On a quiet lane leading only to the cliffs, they have been very tastefully converted from a spacious Victorian house and are stunningly set in several acres of shared natural grounds; home to a wonderful variety of wildlife which can easily be seen from the steep, private beach path and the cottages themselves. Free beach gear is available to borrow (surfboards, buckets and spades, windbreaks, plus some wetsuits) and there is private storage for visitors’ own equipment. The beach at Whitesand is magnificent and offers a splendid mile of sand which has been awarded Blue Flag status and is excellent for surfing (lifeguards operate throughout the summer). There is a ban on dogs from 1st May to 30th September but dogs are permitted year round on nearby Gwenver Beach, the next beach along the coast path. Sennen Cove, ½ mile, is a picturesque little fishing village looking out over the bay. It offers shops, pub, restaurants, even a lifeboat station, all within walking distance. There are some beautiful walks along the coast towards Cape Cornwall in one direction, and beyond Land’s End in the other.

The famous outdoor Minack Theatre is only 3 miles away and Penzance, 7 miles, boasts a mainline station, shops, inns, swimming-pool, sailing and tennis. There is a golf course at St Just, 4 miles, and facilities for squash and badminton are available locally. Picturesque St Ives (a renowned haunt of artists) is 15 miles away along the spectacular north coast. The Carn Towan cottages are perfectly positioned for enjoying a Cornish holiday – and are cosily heated throughout, making them ideal for all-year-round breaks. Shops ½ mile.

The properties can be booked together to accommodate larger parties.

What a fabulous location. Amazing views, three comfortable rooms and a lovely warm log burner to keep us warm. The owners have thought about what is needed for a great holiday and we appreciated some lovely Cornish Clotted cream on arrival plus some other goodies, alongside a practical storage shed for beach things. We have booked again for the summer. It was fabulous in wild December, so cant imagine how nice it will be in August. Thank you Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Amazing location & view. Good quality bedding & towels. Sofas and some of the wallpaper a bit worn. Electric shower, so always hot water available. Smelt of ‘wet dog’ on arrival, but it is a dog friendly cottage & it had been raining. Overall loved our week here. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Spectacular view of Sennen Cove Very comfortable cottage with all required amenities Only issue we had was with the wood burning stove leaking smoke into the front room. This needs attention as soon as possible. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

I didn’t give full marks all round just because, whilst the cottage was overall well equipped, the utensils really need replacing, and as is so commonplace in holiday cottages, the cooking and preparation knives were blunt. I’ve actually got into the habit of taking my own (sharp) knives with me. Also it was a shame we couldn’t use the log burner. But Nick was very approachable and kept us updated when he needed access to the cottage. Hopefully when we book to go back next year I can give it 100% Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

It totally depends what you look for in a holiday.... If you love the beach, views and are outdoor people this is just amazing! We are a young family with 2 young children, 7 and 4. Hands down this is the best location we've ever stayed at on holiday... A short hilly, but totally manageable walk to one of the best beaches in Cornwall. We were there first thing in the morning and there again in the evening and it was amazing. The beach being so close made our holiday. The hilly walk is definitely not for pushchairs or those who find walking tricky. It's a very clean cottage, with everything you need at a basic level. It's cosy, it's traditional. We loved the touches such as the scones and wine on arrival and the shed with beach things to use. That was so helpful and kind. Towels and bedding were supplied and basic cleaning products. You have to be totally open minded to the fact that it is a traditional cottage with no modern features but then that's the appeal in a way. There is a lovely pub down the road The First and Last Inn... Lovely food! The area is very quiet with nothing around until Newlyn and Penzance, so bear in mind that you will need to travel around if you have young children to visit places, unless you stay on the beach the whole time, which in good weather is ideal! The photographs online are very true to life. A fair representation. I would just say to consider the area more than the cottage... It is a bit more out in the sticks than other places in Cornwall... Which for us wasn't a problem... Just research the area for your interests before booking.

Great cottage, excellent location, dog friendly, nothing major but some aspects a bit tired and could do with a bit of updating, but best location and view I’ve ever had!
