Updated third-floor condo with WiFi, shared pool, balcony, W/D, & central AC

Great place. Very quiet beach.

Super clean, neat, and perfect size for our family - you cannot beat the view and beach access! Quick response from Vacasa when we couldn't figure out the door lock. :)

The view and amenities were fantastic. Great area for those who want to fish maybe golf or just swim in the ocean. If you’re looking for relaxation and quiet, this beach is perfect. If you’re after the nightlife, this is not the beach for you

Hi there, We loved the pool and general layout/ somewhat modern feel of the home. The elevator is such a plus! The kitchen is fairly well stocked and we spent a great amount of time around the enormous island area. The beds are comfortable. However, we’ve stayed at Thomas Cottage for the past two years and unfortunately, for the price increase and mediocre quality of our stay, we will not be returning next year. The coffee table was broken and pushed against the wall when we got there (a leg was dangling), posing a hazard to our kids. Some of the walls are filthy, as are ALL of the baseboards. I am not just talking about the normal wear and tear scuff marks, but literal dirt/stains on the walls that I wiped off myself. The vent at the top of the steps in front of the elevator had a thick layer of dust all over it; how a cleaning person doesn’t see that is beyond me! I had to wipe down the baseboards in my kids’ bunk bed room, as well as clear as day boogers off the walls next to their beds. Half of our sheets were put on inside out. If you opened any of the closet doors, dust balls flew out at you. I tried to sweep around as some rugs were still covered in sand, but the sweeper is so jammed/brush roll indicator light is on, it was impossible to even use (no wonder there was still sand on the rugs). In terms of outdoors, the weeds by the pool are out of control. This is basic landscaping/upkeep. Almost every door was so rusted you couldn’t open them. We had to have maintenance come to replace knobs on two doors in particular that we used most often. To pay this amount of money and not have a 5 star stay, is simply ludicrous. Please do better housekeeping. You, alone, will put these homeowners out of business. This is not my intention with this review, but I do want to make renters aware of the kinds of issues they are facing for the price they pay, as well as to gain Vacasa’s attention on the housekeeping situation. I realize the cleaning companies only have so much time before the new renters come through, each week, but even so, the condition of the home was unacceptable. Yes, I cleaned what I could and just rolled with it, as I am on vacation, but I will not be accepting this moving forward. We are hoping our stay next year, elsewhere, is better. We’ve been coming to Holden for 20 years and this year, we truly felt taken advantage of (again, the cleanliness of the home nearly ruined our stay). Thanks.

We stayed at this condo for two weeks this summer and it became our home away from home. We always stay at OIBV, and this is one of our fave places to stay! Amazing view, updated appliances, plenty of space. Definitely recommend!

The NUMBER ONE THING that was the reason for staying at this property was the view from the balcony. As has been reported by other renters, the sliding door is VERY hard to open and close. After I called a second time to report it and tell them that I hurt my back trying to open it, Vacasa sent someone out and used some WD40 on it and said one of the rollers needed replaced. They would contact the homeowner for approval to repair it. So my husband and I were able to spend very little time out there and just had to look through the glass!! I also agree with other people's comments about needing some window coverings to block out the early sun and also for privacy reasons.

We loved everything about this place. The balcony along would have been enough but the furniture in the living area was very comfortable. The mattress in the main bedroom was superb. We slept very well during our stay. It is quiet and private. The kitchen had everything we needed. We will be back.

The place was very clean and quiet. Great ocean views. The only thing I would change is to have blinds or shades on the windows because the sun is bright and gets you up early. It would also be nice to have an iron and ironing board. Overall, I was very satisfied.

We have stayed at the property before and made a return trip. We enjoyed our stay once again and look forward to another trip in the future.

Great VIEWS - right on the beach, unobstructed views, The kitchen was very well equipped and the decor was cute. This is where I stop with the accolades, however. Cons: 1) there are no curtains or shades so the main bedroom gets full sunlight at 6am 2) the beds - the main bed was small and covered in a plastic crunchy sheet - the bunk beds were lumpy and uncomfortable 3) the patio door needs serious arm muscle to open it. It needs some lubrication and maintenance 4) when we arrived, the bathroom was quite dirty (hairs on the floor, glass shower door was smudged and there was quite a bit of dust on the light fixtures and ceiling fan). The stove was also streaky 5) when we opened the dryer, we found a musty wet bathroom carpet - perhaps the cleaning staff forgot to start the dryer? 6) on the first night, while looking for a toaster, we found a sizeable cockroach in the pantry 7) it was impossible to find the parking pass and pool pass. a note on the fridge would help, as would a map to the property 8) most importantly, what I absolutely did not appreciate is the unauthorized access to our unit - not once, but twice (that I know of). The first time, we went down to the beach and left our teenager to sleep in. He woke up to two middle aged men in the living room. They said 'pest control' but he was so freaked out that he came running down to find us. A message (text, email, etc) would have been a good idea to send to me, if you were sending over staff that were going to access

This property is in an amazing location...right on the beach and so close to pretty much anything you would ever want to do (golf, dining and bars). It's perfect for a couple and maybe ok for a couple with two children (there is only one bathroom). As long as you are in good enough shape to walk up three flights of stairs, you will enjoy this property immensely!

The Thomas Cottage was amazing! Great location, very clean and easy access to food and recreation.The gas grill did need a good cleaning, which we did. Others this was very noice place to stay. Would stay there again.

We loved pretty much everything about this condo. It had everything we needed. Everything worked great! Would definitely come back but just a few cosmetic things could be worked on and needs blinds or curtains over the windows to prevent light from coming in during the day as we have a small child the needs to nap around lunch and it was too bright in the small room and the sun came in very early each morning. Overall fantastic experience.

We’ve been renting beach homes for 30 years and this home was the absolute best! Really loved the neutral colors inside which accentuated God’s beauty outside. Highly recommend!

The condo description and photos are accurate. Very nice quiet location close to both Oak Island and Southport. Please note that the beds are not very comfortable. That was the only big negative we found. A few hours of deep cleaning and better beds would take this rental to the next level. Cleanliness wouldn’t keep me from renting again, but unfortunately the beds are a deal breaker.
