The condo's bedroom, bathroom and kitchen had been cleaned. The shower, bathroom sink and kitchen appliances are updated. However, cobwebs were at the front entrance, and inside the windows and behind the tv. Old stale smell in the home, old furniture may have had something to do with that. Had to buy air fresher spray in order to get rid of the smell in order to stay there. Mold was in the shower and in the kitchen ceiling. This mold definitely needs to be addressed to avoid health issues. Recieved a headache while there, not sure if it was the smell of the condo or the mold. Who knows, but I felt better when i left the house. Old furniture, from the 70s maybe; dresser in the bedroom (extremely dusty),and the kitchen table and chair set that had been painted over. A kitchen chair was broken, handle to the sliding glass door for the deck was broken & could not be opened. Front glass door handle was broken, and could not lock it. All items were already broken when i got there. It was cold the 2nd night, and the heat did not work. Extremely old thermostats, i tried turning on all of the thermostats and nothing happened, no heat or air kicked on. A lamp in the bedroom flickered. Another person mentioned this in a Jan. 2022 post review and it's still flickering over a year and a half later. This seems to be a shortage and may need to be replaced to avoid a fire.
Liked the big shower and washer/dryer in the unit. The wifi username/password was conveniently posted on a chalkboard. However, the unit did not have sofa bed as advertised and the heavy couch blocked access to the deck. Outside lights (deck and front door) did not work and no bulbs were provided even after notification. Bring your own snow shovel-none provided and renter has to shovel steps (this was not made clear at booking). Extra blanket was dirty and there were no pillowcases for extra bed pillows. Poor maintenance-vinyl cap on steps came off when first entered the unit, handle to sliding door not attached properly, living room floor lamp did not work (not a bulb issue). Kitchen chair broke when husband sat down on it to put on boots. Main walkways of the unit were clean, but there were crumbs on the coffee table, junk in the corner behind a chair, cobwebs between the side of the dresser and the wall, lots of dust bunnies and some junk under the bed. The front door overhang did not have a gutter directing water to the ground so melting snow dripped and froze on the steps railing and steps. No instructions for the TVs. Could not use the dresser-had stuff on shelves-no drawers.
On the positive side, the location is perfect for skiing Sugar Mountain. You can easily walk to the mountain. The apartment is cute with a nice patio and a pretty nice view. However, there were a few issues the facilities. Firstly, the glasses, plates and dishes were pretty gross. There was literally pieces of cheese stuck to plates and lettuce on bowls. The toilet was leaking, so we had to stuff towels around the base so it didn't leak into the hall. WIFI was pretty bad and disconnected every 30 minutes or so, so you have to keep logging in if you want to stay connected. Also, the baseboard heating didn't really kick in for about 10 hours, although we had cranked the heat to the maximum. So the first night, we had to go out and buy firewood for the fireplace so we didn't freeze. I'm not exaggerating. It was probably 55 degrees until we started the fire. Day two and three it was totally fine. Not sure why it didn't get going the first night. Lastly, the build quality of the complex is pretty cheap, so you can also hear every creak and footstep in the above apartment, so we lost quite a bit of sleep with neighbors walking around at 3 a.m. I think 3/5 stars is fair, perhaps generous. With a lot more effort on Vacasa's end, this place could be a 4/5.
Location was great!
I am very happy of my selection to spend time alone in the mountains. This apartment had everything I needed, peace, quietness, cleanness, appliances, close to Granddfather Mountain, stores and everything else that made my stay a great time. The price was so affordable and a great deal. I will definetely return to this apartment.
The property is in a great location! You can be in Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, etc. in about 30 minutes. Great places to eat in Beach Mountain. Loved our trip to Grandfather Mountain and Linville Caverns. We would stay here again and defiantly recommend this property.
The bedroom is a basement, no air circulation, resulting in a musty smell. Two of the dinette chairs were falling apart. No barbecue grill. All balcony chairs were uncomfortable. The commode leaked onto the floor. The wax seal appears to have broken, and there was an occasional smell of septic gas. The place has such potential, and it is such a shame the owners have neglected to give it the attention it deserves.
It’s a wonderful place to say! It was very clean, cozy & a convenient location!
Nice property for a comfortable mountain getaway.
The listing states that the condo sleeps 4 however the sofa bed was broken an no effort was made to repair or replace. We were told to just use the air mattress from the closet which was also crappy and leaked air continuously and had to be re-inflated multiple times in the night. The floors were also dirty, the house is cluttered with oversized furniture, and several lamps that don’t work. Spend your money on something nicer. I will never stay there again.
Nice cozy spot, we stayed for a weekend and it was perfect. Clean, well kept, big enough for 2-4 people depending on how packed in you’re ok with, and a great spot literally a couple minutes from the base of sugar. Would definitely stay again!
Functionally perfect except for one flickering lightbulb. Internet worked surprisingly well. Could stream easily. Having a washer and dryer is really cool. Very neat renovated bathroom. May stay again next time. Some critique/requests: the floor could use an extra sweep (esp. corners), maybe an additional wash. Also please don't put washer pods into the machine's dispenser - it's moist there and they start dissolving and sticking together. Maybe just leave them in a plastic bag somewhere. Thanks!
