You can't get much closer to the beach than this two-bedroom, two-bathroom oceanfront cottage at Kepuhi Beach Resort. The private lanai is covered for shade, allowing you to relax, watch the sunset over the channel, and fill the cottage with delightfully cool ocean breezes. You'll be very close to the property's oceanfront pool and a short walk from the barbecue area, with breaching whales visible out front in the wintertime. Enjoy the convenience of a fully appointed kitchen, a flatscreen TV with cable, and free WiFi. On the ground floor, you'll find one bedroom with a queen-size bed, a sleeper sofa in the living room, a bathroom with a tub/shower, and a private washer/dryer. The upper-level bedroom has two twin beds and a bathroom with a shower.
What's nearby:
Kepuhi Beach Resort is an oceanfront property on the west end of the island of Molokai, with grounds that include an oceanfront swimming pool, gas grills with picnic tables, and a sundry shop with trinkets and food to purchase. Right out front, on both sides of the old hotel, is Kepuhi Beach, which is great for surfing in the winter months, ideal for swimming and snorkeling come summer, and the site of many paddle races to Oahu. You'll also be a short stroll across the old golf course from Papohaku Beach, one of the longest beaches in the state of Hawaii with waters that are rough in the winter but calmer for ocean swimming in summer. Kepuhi Beach Resort is less than a mile from Make Horse and its many tidepools, seven miles northwest of the town of Maunaloa (the only town on the west end), and 20 miles west of Kaunakakai, where most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and equipment rentals are located.
This arid west side of Molokai, just 12 miles from the airport, is known for having less rain than the east side of the island. And the island-wide evening quiet hours make Molokai perfect for romance, families, solitude, and experiencing a glimpse of the real Hawaii away from the tourist crowds. Molokai is about entertaining yourselves, although Hotel Molokai on a Friday night is entertaining itself!

Property location was great - ocean front and very quiet. The interior was not well maintain - found a dead centipde on the kitchen floor. Many of the buildings in the complex were boarded up.
This unit has the best view of and proximity to the beach and surf. However, it needs serious refurbishment--paint is flaking off the walls, the finish is wearing off the floor, and the electrical system is failing. None of the electrical outlets in the kitchen work. We had to plug in the coffee maker by the bathroom sink and the toaster on the floor in the dining area. The lamp by the bed doesn't work: the switch is missing. Someone from the resort management had to come turn on the TV connection. However, we had a great time exploring on foot and by car--got plenty of exercise hiking around.
Incredible atmosphere with the constant roar of the Pacific! Really appreciate the constant attention to detail, care, and hospitality provided by Tammy from the main office on Maui! She’s amazing!
I’ve stayed here before and you cannot beat the view and location. I give it one star because as it used to be funky and dated, now it is neglected and run down. Management is distant, polite and useless. As the price has gone up and the quality tanks, I can not recommend staying in this unit.
Location was great - very good views easy walking distance to beachh
This is our second time staying at the oceanfront cottage (we frequently visit Kepuhi, but it's always booked). The west end isn't for everyone, but if you know, you know, and you can't get any closer to the water. Great setup for a family or 2 couples.
We loved the property The cottage itself needs maintenance attention; We could not fully secure our place because 1 of the sliding locks to the bedroom doors was frozen from the salt air. (that was a bit unsettling whenever we left the place to go to the beach or town) Also the upstairs shower curtain was very corroded with mold & because it was too long for the fit of the shower it always was wet adding to mosquitos gathering in the bathroom. All in all we loved the stay & I hope to rent this & the next door cottage for my family in the future
If you love three beaches to choose from and breaking ocean waves with your morning coffee yet don’t mind an older place with some hiccups then this is an affordable, gritty paradise. A 3-mile beach is to the left and two other beaches to the right by foot. The place could use some care. Some buildings are boarded up and abandoned yet gardeners and others are still tending the plumeria and flora. The washer works only if the dryer is on. Bring detergent. 4 beach towels are here. The Friendly Market 20 minutes away is your only market other than snack store. Your feet may be red from the blown in sand. Doors don’t lock but seems like an ultra friendly old resort with seniors from the US, Canada, England. Friendly crowd. The pool is nice under the palms.
Being so near the ocean
We arrived in the evening trying to get the key from the keypad. No such luck - the code didn't work! So, we call the associated phone # and had to answer 10 questions before they would even help. They gave us the same code! It still didn't work, and they finally had to give us a fail safe code to get the key to open the door. We stood outside for 15 minutes before we could get in. The large screen ( 8' x 2') were blown away from the winder and leaning against the dining table. Tried to put them back up, but the window screen latches were broken or missing. The next day, the electricity went out - which included the internet - which was needed for me to work. Everyone else had electricity -- power was only affected in our unit. The next day, power was on for the most part, but the garbage disposal backed up and would not drain. So, we called Vacasa -- on hold, on hold, on hold. We tried again later, on hold, on hold, on hold. So, we called next day and waiting for someone to answer -- 30 minutes later we got someone and explained the power was back on everywhere -- but the kitchen outlets along the counter still did not work. We had to plug the coffee pot in the living room. Same thing for the remainder of our stay. Then on the final evening there, while lounging on one of the lounge chairs on the porch, the leg broke! I enjoyed my time on the island because we had many families and church folks to visit. The condo location is the best. I just feel the condo is old and in need of repair.
We loved it here!! A perfect getaway spot; with an ocean view and easy beach access. So quiet and beautiful!!
Excellent
The view is outstanding Needs a lot of maintenance but it was a lot of fun The staff was outstanding
The location is spectacular but the surrounding resort is literally falling apart. We couldn't get internet and had a huge ant attack in our food. A local Vacassa rep never contacted us to help with either. You told us the washing machine was broken, but there was no sign of washer or dryer. No dishwasher, outside lights on Patio needed. Screen doors need alot of help letting in bugs. You get the point.
Place was great, the grounds are a little run down/deserted and the apartment is old, we wish the beds were a little more comfortable, but we were island hopping for a quick trip and overall we had a great time. The location is fantastic, right on the beach. Can’t beat the sunsets
We return every year because we love and appreciate everything about the townhome. Location is perfect, close to beach and views are endless. We had a problem this year but the problem was fixed in a timely manner. We will definately continue to rent this unit every year. See you next year.
Very convenient and close to beach and pool! Unfortunately there’s no air conditioning but doesn’t get hot enough to need one.
Molokai is an exceptional destination for those looking to learn and understand their culture. This is not a luxury resort, this is a relatively clean, safe place to rest after exploring.
The owners need to update the insides with new lighter drapes, new shower curtains, new paint and new living room furniture. I spent two days getting kitchen switches fixed and learning how to use the shower. Great location but owners need to fix this property to justify rent!
