Oceanfront Condo - See Whales in Season Right From the Balcony!

Papakea offers a nice family atmosphere, daily activities, and close to shopping and restaurants. Our unit was clean, spacious, well appointed. We spent many hours watching whales and turtles off the lanai… dreamy. Robin (property owner) was awesome, responding to a last minute request for an additional night! Thank you so much!

We found the resort difficult to find and our GPS kept taking us a block past the entrance making it a challenge to locate in the dark, late in the evening. The condo has a beautiful view facing the ocean and we were able to sit on the deck watching whales every single day! That was amazing. The beds were comfortable and the washer and dryer very handy. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. Restaurants and amenities within easy walking distance and the award winning cinnamon roll place just right at the resort entrance. Amazon will deliver to the front office where you can pick up any package which is handy as well. The air conditioning was broken but when I called the property manager immediately contacted the owner and it was repaired while we were there. I found the management company to be very responsive to any request or concern. I would be very happy to stay here again in the future. Lovely place!

Room is well stocked.

This condo was so great for our family. It had enough space, a very well stocked kitchen (always nice to not have to buy coffee filters for example). It was very clean. The best parts of it IMO are: This is ocean front - not beach front - the views are spectacular and sitting on the balcony at sunset, sunrise, just watching the whales - it was amazing. I will say the ocean is LOUD - maybe the only downside is you will 100% hear it in the master bedroom at night even if you close the windows - it takes some getting used to just how loud it is. So if you are a light sleeper maybe bring ear plugs. Secondly, the grounds and amenities were great. Third, there were so many things we could walk to that made the trip easy - the food trucks (we would often just get food for dinner there and then eat on the balcony watching the sunset, slappy cakes, a grocery store, etc. We loved staying here as did our kids. It was just all very easy. Thank you for the great stay!

We had a lovely time. Unit has a spectacular view… the whale watching was phenomenal!!! The area is perfect for morning walks and eating establishments! I would recommend this unit for a relaxing and invigorating stay. We ourselves are returning in 2025!!

We were not excited about the kitchen pests or the smell in the kitchen when we first got there. We cleaned the counters and by the next day, the odd smell was gone. The pests were a recurrent thing. I think it’s to be expected in Hawaii. We ended up keeping our dry goods stored in the oven and microwave for piece of mind. The other issue was the loud noise in the master bedroom from the slatted windows. I read the reviews from previous vacationers so I knew there would be noise from the waves. Just didn’t expect it to be as loud as a freight train. It might not be as bad in summer or on less windy/rainy nights. The condo itself was a great location. The furniture was comfortable. And that view. Breathtaking every morning! We saw so many whales. I could have sat on the lanai all day whale watching. Can’t rave enough about the view. If your priority is whale watching, this is the condo for you. If you prefer a good nights rest or are a sensitive sleeper, you might think twice.

Beautiful and as advertised

Perfect location for whale watching in January. One morning while we were having breakfast on the lanai we saw one slap its tail 21 times. The apartment is just as advertised. Everything was easy.

We had a lovely stay and couldn’t have asked for a better appointed condo, it has everything you could possibly need or want. Gorgeous view in a quiet location.

This is our 3rd time staying here and we love it. The ocean view is awesome and we saw whales every day. Great location (walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants). The grounds at the Papakea Resort (where the condo is located) are very well kept.
