It provides easy access to hiking trails and even closer is the Boise river to float or fish or take a walk along the greenbelt. Perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts.
Surprise Valley is located adjacent to the famous Oregon Trail. Across the street you can access a public trail that runs along the base of the basalt cliff. Walk up the Kelton Ramp, a rocky old two-track where Oregon Trail wagons descended into the Boise Valley. Once on top of the rim, you can follow a trail that stays close to the rim, or several others on the flat portion of the Oregon Trail Reserve Park. On top of the rim, Boise Parks & Recreation has put up a number of interpretive signs that explain the history of the Oregon Trail, early gold-mining activity in Idaho City, and more.

When we first got there we were unable to get the code to work on the door. Called and got the information we needed to get into the apartment. Once we got into the apartment we found the electricity wasn't working on the north wall of the apartment. No big issue, but when we called to report the problem we were told the repairman would be there within the next hour. We waited for the repair man for the hour, he took another hour to complete his work and at this point we missed the opportunity to see our new granddaughter that evening.
Nice clean place. Nice deck out back to sit and enjoy the views. Beds were comfortable and having bathrooms attached to each bedroom was great when traveling with coworkers
Our stay was fabulous! From the reserving to check in, to the cleanliness, to being well stocked from kitchen to laundry, to the comfy beds, to the fab million-dollar sunrise and views, to all of the activities that are so close by, our stay was wonderful. Lots to do close to this wonderful condo. Nice friendly neighbors too! We were so lucky to be able to stay so close to our son's home who we were visiting! Did lots during his working hours, as well as his free time - 102 rim trail at Oregon Trail Historic Reserve (highly recommend this informative easy trail), Greenway trail in Bown plus pizza at Lucky 13 and yummy, creamy ice cream at The STIL and Fresh sushi at The Shack! Flatbread Boise is a great place for lunch too! We hiked to Lucky Peak, then went to the archery range and practice trail near lucky peak - we could see from our balcony, with the binoculars provided for guests, the ram on the practice trail!! Sunsets at Table Rock, wildlife galore including eagles, vultures, rabbits, quail, deer, and the coyotes at night, plus a dinner to remember at Cottonwood Grile for our 37th anniversary celebration! Golfing at Quail Hollow was tremendous with lots of challenges and fab views! Thank you to Ryan and Julie for being so available to us with quick responses to any questions we had. Can't wait to return!
Perfect spot for an overnight stay.
Great place to stay that feels like it is away from things but still close to everything you'd need. The property managers are easy to work with and go the extra mile. I happened to have a broken foot when we stayed and though the condo is up some stairs, it was nice to have a shower that is very accessible and large. You can sit on the included bench with plenty of room. King size bed with adjustable memory foam was also a very nice touch. This was out second stay and we will return.
The views from this place were amazing! Having a small pond nearby meant we could see some ducks and hawk that definitely hangs out in the area. Across the way into the field there were deer as well as even further into the mountains. Binoculars were present which made viewing even easier. Very quiet area with nothing but the sounds of nature. A very easy half hour drive to downtown Boise. The place was very clean. Would 10/10 stay here again!
