Marriott's Monarch at Sea Pines in Hilton Head- 2 bedroom villa!

Everything was as described. Communication was great and helped guide us throughout the week. Was a great family vacation will be back very soon.

This VRBO listing is essentially a sublet of a timeshare. That being so, my group enjoyed the same amenities as any regular guest at this Marriott Vacation Club which was very nice. The property is meticulously maintained and on a prime stretch of HHI beach. Everything in the unit was in good working order and very clean.

Wonderful space and great time.

This unit is on the ground floor next to the children's splash pad. The unit has no view of anything other than the kids pool and the adult pool. Based on the pricing and the comments about ocean front we thought we would have some type of view and a better location. Unit is in a timeshare facility and when we checked in they kept asking if we were some other person's name, I assume the person who had the week to sell. Other than the close proximity to the beach and the beach club, not much else going for this unit. Very disappointing.

Beautiful grounds. A little pricey. But overall a nice place.

I was pleasantly surprised by the unit and the property. The apartment was modern and spotless. The resort had two pools and the biggest hot tub I have ever seen. These were situated in a beautifully landscaped property. All of this is directly adjacent to the beautiful HHI beach. We all enjoyed the stay. I don't normally write reviews, but, I felt this place deserved one.

Great place to vacation.

Last year I wrote a glowing review for this property. While my family and I enjoyed our stay at this property again this year, I cannot write that same glowing review. Many things were the same, great location, well laid out, most of the staff was caring and helpful, activities were well planned, room was well equipped, easy walk to beach, pools were nice. BUT, my biggest complaint this year was parking. Several days we had to circle the lot for up to 30 minutes waiting for someone to leave. over 120 units, over 140 parking spaces, construction workers, employees, guests with multiple vehicles made finding a parking place a lottery. They have a pass system (yellow for a primary car, green for secondary cars and they must goes in the overflow lot), but employees, construction workers, and other contractors didn't apply, and took primary spaces. So 2nd vehicles filled the overflow, and there were not enough primary spaces for all units. We were asked to report when we couldn't park, and at those times some staff were sympathetic, while others were a bit arrogant (Yes, we know parking is at a premium). The alternative is the trolley, parking your vehicle over a mile away and riding essentially public transport to the expensive resort. We've vacationed here 3 times now, and this was the first time we've had this problem. Also, many facilities were broken, the sun deck was closed, the water rinsing station by the main beach entrance didn't work, trash chute was closed so you set the trash out in the hall by the door for pickup, and there was enough construction at our building that if you wanted to sleep in or enjoy a quiet day, well, too bad. I could see the wonderful resort vacation spot I remembered, overlaid with a sheen of decay and inconvenience. I might try here again, as I am completely a creature of habit, but this experience might push me to try a different resort next time.

We had stayed at the Monarch about 13 years ago, so there was a bit of fear that the property may not have aged well. However, everything was perfect, the room was very well maintained, and the grounds looked wonderful! The appliances appeared new, the walk-in shower was a nice replacement for the whirlpool tubs. Resort activities were frequent, relatively inexpensive, and everyone was very accommodating. The staff was friendly and professional. One comment to improve your stay: when you open the shower door the towel bar is behind it, so have your towels ready before you get in! One comment to help improve the resort: The master bathroom carried a constant mild odor of septic gas, may want to check the shower drains. If you left the bathroom door open, you can smell it in the bedroom.
