The Neighborhood:

Poipu Kai is a 70-acre resort community in Poipu. The community consists of seven condo developments with their own swimming pools, an 8-court Poipu Kai Tennis Club, a community pool and hot tub, and the beautiful Green Belt, garden paths connecting the areas of the resort. The resort is between the Hyatt and Shipwreck`s Beach to Brennecke`s and Poipu beaches. Restaurants to walk to are the Grand Hyatt Kauai, the Poipu Bay Golf Course, Kalapaki Joe`s, and Brennecke`s Restaurant.



Getting Around:

When visiting Kauai, we highly recommend renting a car to enhance your experience and give you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace. While there are other transportation options available, such as the Kauai Bus, it's important to note that the bus service may not run as frequently as you might expect.



Having a rental car allows you to easily access all the incredible sights and attractions that Kauai has to offer. From the stunning Na Pali Coast to the breathtaking Waimea Canyon, having your own transportation gives you the flexibility to visit these iconic locations on your own schedule.

    Very nice location, unit, and grounds. Appreciated all the kitchen supplies for food prep and the supplies (toiletries, dish soap, etc). Unit is unpleasantly hot for large portions of the daytime whether plantation shudders and small windows are open or closed. The upstairs AC unit was blowing warm air until we discovered a vent on its backside needed adjusting (it was 93 degrees upstairs until 11:30 at night our first night). Overall inefficient cooling of the bedrooms due slatted bedroom doors, and older portable (and noisy) AC units. The place would benefit immensely from central air or at least updated ductless wall units (needed in the living room also). Ran fans continuously, saw at least 2 work trucks installing AC in nearby units during our stay, construction in the adjacent unit daily but they waited until 9 a.m. to start so this did not impact sleep. Would suggest a folding drying rack to allow swimsuits and rash guards to air dry. We skipped the pool after our first dip...it feels heated and not refreshing in summer weather, but the pool area is overall well maintained and empty of people.

    The location was fantastic. Having the two swimming pools was wonderful and being so close to the beach made it a great holiday. Our issue was with the living room. Am extra armchair would have enabled our family of 5 to sit comfortably together and having some air-conditioning in the living room would’ve helped a lot.

    Bring your groceries and everything else is right there. Beach and a few stores walking distance under 10 min. Of course you can explore elsewhere but this is a great place for families

    The property itself is beautiful and walking distance to the beach. The condo is just ok. The good: close to the beach. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had the appliances and dishes we needed. It served its purpose as a place to sleep and eat breakfast. We were able to do laundry which was nice too. The not so good: It had to be 90 degrees inside when we arrived. The air conditioners hose upstairs was damaged ( torn off & cracked ) therefore could not be used. We reached out and were told maintenance was working at another property and couldn’t come out until the following day leaving us 24 hours without the ability to use it. Thankfully we found several other fans and toughed it out and kept windows opened which helped. The shower in the master and hallway does not drain properly. Had to turn off shower 1/2 way thru to let it drain. There were 3 cockroaches in the kitchen during our 5 day stay. The master bathroom’s air conditioner leaks and sounds like a heavy rainfall or shower running. Hopefully that will be fixed before next party rents. The toilet does not shut off and the window can not be closed in the bathroom as the outside latch is broken off. Not enough towels. Thankful for the washer as we washed towels 3x. Towels are not expensive so not sure why they were limited. I personally would not stay here again but our options were limited since we needed more space. If you are just there to sleep and eat it is ok. Not a place to entertain guest.

    Our family of 5 stayed for 9 days. The location was amazing! A very short walk to the beach and food. The condo was very clean and had everything it advertised. We did have an issue with the main bedroom shower being clogged but we called and they sent someone out that same day to address it! The 3rd bedroom upstairs gets pretty warm in late afternoon even with the air conditioner but not enough to be a huge deal. All 3 bedrooms had air conditioning which was nice. The beds were all comfortable and the pillows were great! We loved using the beach umbrellas, chairs, beach towels and boogie boards available! We would definitely recommend this condo and we would for sure visit again!
