** We have great news!
Our C Building is almost finished and receiving the final touches. It will be completed soon, giving you a peaceful and more quiet stay.
Our D Building has begun construction. We are excited for this next phase of expansion at Playa Azul!
The drive up was a bit of a shock as it does appear to be under heavy construction and not open, but as we went inside and saw the beachside of the building it was a really nice looking place. The room itself was really nice and clean. The biggest downfall for my family was that there was a horrendous dead fish smell that would not go away. We called for maintenance and we were sent the cleaning people. The cleaning people confirmed that they had submitted a concern about the smell to maintenance before we took possession of the room for weekend. Maintenance deferred the issue back to the cleaning people as their problem and not maintenance. We had maintenance come up while the cleaning people were there and tried to get someone to resolve the issue. All they could do was give us this cleaning chemical spray bottle to spray into the duct, to mask the smell and it would work for about 5 mins but then would stink again. We ended up having to deal with it all weekend since there were no other available room to move into. I hope they get this fixed as this smell was bad, like a fish was rotting in the AC ducts. We did leave complaint with the front desk and they said they would “review” the concern. No credit was given.
We have a little two year old so this was perfect as there is not any fragile decor anywhere. The only negative was on our last night (early morning), there was a bad sewage smell coming from both bathrooms. Otherwise we definitely stay here again.
First time at this location. It was very scary getting there and seeing the entrance. It is still highly under construction and the view when you arrived was horrible. But then we walked into the lobby and walked to the other side and it was a total different place. There was such a beautiful beach view. Loved the balcony and the beach view from there as well. Our 10 and 5 year old children loved the beach and slides. The restaurant food was ok. But not too much variety. The staff were great. The condo was really nice. We were missing towels when we got there, but made sure to let the staff know. We didn't want to get charged if they thought we had them and they were missing. They did make arrangements and gave us the missing towels. We liked the fact that it had a washer and dryer inside the unit. The beds were very comfortable. Probably the most comfortable beds we've had when traveling. There was a septic smell as we walked into the condo. That was not pleasant. But we were mainly in the beach and pool so only had to deal with the smell at night. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed. Otherwise the stay was pleasant. We would probably return.
rst things first! This place is still under heavy construction so don't be scared when you pull up! The front is much nicer! When you park you can go to front desk to check in and get a cart to help bring your stuff in. They only currently have 8 carts so you might have to wait or just bring it up yourself. The room felt brand new! The mismatched walls and furniture really works well.. and the AC works great! Each room had its own which was nice. Every room had a TV but don't expect many channels. There's only a handful to choose from including one with 60s shows which we ended up watching a lot. You can't beat the view from the room and the large balcony! Right when you walk in and see the ocean through the back patio your initial concern driving up will be gone. The hotel has a lot of amenities including a game room. Please note.. the lobby has no AC. So that meant the game room had no AC and we sweated off our dinner playing ping pong. All things are held at the front desk including the air hockey game pieces, Foosball balls and even towels for the pools. You will need to leave an ID. The restaurant was pleasantly surprising! You couldn't beat the quick and friendly service! Aron served us all weekend and he was great. It does have a somewhat limited menu and closes at 8 on weekdays and 9 on the weekends. We found ourselves wishing it was open later... especially since the pool is open until 10. The highlights were the coconut shrimp and the chimichangas and least favorite of the weekend was the hamburger. Pizza is decent too! Has a Peter Piper Pizza vibe to it. One of THE BEST highlights for my family was when the tide went out all these sandbars came out and you can walk out really far and look for shells, crabs and sand dollars. My family and I would stay again.
