Kamaole Sands #5-103 Inner Courtyard! A/C! Great Location, Near Beach!

This was our second time booking this apartment complex. We loved that the apartment was within walking distance to the beach. It was quiet, clean, and the pullout bed was even very comfortable. Great location, near restaurants in Kihei and close to the highway to get to other parts of the island.

Home was clean. Kitchen was equipped with basic appliances like rice cooker, coffee maker, Tupperware ,ice packs ,small cooler bags ect. It had boogie boards for all family members,some sand toys, beach chairs,umbrellas as well as some fins for snorkeling. I would have expected 1-2 extra blankets so we don't have to share with other people. We prefer individual blankets. Overall We enjoyed our 1 week long stay here.

We did have a pluming issue with the tub not draining in the main bedroom. we would, we said it did not need immediate attention because we had another bath room, however it was never taken care of the 12 days that we were there.

This particular rental was the worst of them. Bathrooms had had up dates but the kitchen was awful. The whole place just felt a little dark and dreary. The kitchen cabinets were quite dirty and I wiped down outsides. The glass on all the living room and dining room furniture was streaky and looked like it had not been cleaned. Luckily we had come as a family and my daughters rental was much better so spent all of our family time there. Also on last day it was no problem getting a late check out on my place which was probably the one high light of this rental.

Being on the ground floor allowed us to just walk off our patio to access the beautiful grounds and pool area. The walk to the beach across the street from the property was about 10 mins. from our unit. The reception stafff were great and all instructions on how to access the condo were clear.

Would stay again.

One thing to consider is building 5 directly faces west, so starting in the afternoon the sun starts beating in and makes the lanai and front area of condo hot and very sunny! Kamaole sands resort itself is absolutely beautiful, we’ve stayed in many different units throughout the years but this one definitely left us underwhelmed. VERY dated unit: popcorn ceiling, yellow/brown sponge paint throughout the unit made it feel dark/dingy, kitchen cabinets are sticky/tacky like they’ve been painted too many times, all furniture except the new sofa is all very worn, the cushions on the wicker dining chairs and the bedroom mattress desperately need replacement, very poor/dim lighting throughout the condo. There is a 2 hour timer on the AC unit which becomes inconvenient. We came home one afternoon to the unit being 86 degrees and takes about 30 minutes to cool down. You need to continuously turn the dial on the timer to make sure the unit stays comfortable. Other small inconveniences: the plastic handle on the outside of the lanai door is cracked so there’s really no handle to easily open it, the WiFi signal is very poor and doesn’t reach the bedroom and all the soap containers are refilled with mostly water. Check in process was great and Rentals Maui was kind enough to text us when the unit was ready 2 hours early. Check out process ended up being a bit more complicated than expected, but Cassandra was helpful in resolving the issues. Be advised although the check out instructions are somewhat vague, the cleaning crew expected the unit to be pretty much spotless. Also they keep an EXACT inventory list down to every fork and spoon, so be sure to replace everything exactly where you found it. Although we love Kamaole Sands, we would not stay in this particular unit again.
