Welcome to your home away from home! We hope you enjoy your stay in our newly remodeled basement apartment. It has tons of natural light, fully stocked kitchen and space to relax or get work done w/ fast internet. We are located within steps of the rapid ride bus line that takes you downtown, as well as a handful of exquisite coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and ice cream! About 5 short blocks from groceries & gas and a nice stroll to Sunset Hill Park to overlook the Olympic Mountain Range!

This is the basement unit of our very first home. It’s recently renovated and fully modernized. We hope you enjoy it!

We have a keyless entry lock to make it easy for you to check in at whatever hour you arrive.

The larger bedroom has a king-sized bed and a small walk-in closet. The smaller bedroom has a desk, chair, and twin bed. This bed can be converted to a king-sized bed, for which we provide linens. When fully extended, the room can be a little bit snug. We also have a portable crib and crib mattress, if needed.

The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and cookware. We do not have additional ingredients, so plan to bring your own. The living room is equipped with a SmartTV with access to all the streaming apps.

Additionally, there is a shared laundry room in the basement. The laundry space is shared with the upper unit, Lady Mary Cottage. Each unit has secure locks to their private spaces.

Please note this unit does not have air conditioning; we do provide two box fans. There are heaters in every room with individual thermostats.

We will gladly offer any recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, or other activities.

We ask that guests not throw parties, play loud music, or bring animals into the space.

Rosellini's : a quick walk from our home and has some of the best coffee and pastries!

The Fat Hen: walking distance. Has a delicious breakfast.

Delancey: walking distance and has wood-fired pizza.

Essex: walking distance and has great drinks and burgers

Frankie and Joe's: walking distance and has plant-based ice cream (we know it sounds weird... but it will rock your world if you give it a try!)

A bus line that goes directly downtown is located just a half block from our house. Street parking is available and free.

Henry’s Hideaway is the lower unit of an older home. We’ve done our best with thicker drywall and noise-dampening insulation, but footsteps can be heard when the upper unit is booked.
We are a shoes off home. With the Seattle weather we greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping your shoes off at all times inside.

There is no smoking of any kind allowed (i.e. cigarettes, vaping or marijuana) and no drugs allowed on the property.

No eating or drinking (other than water) on the beds. If you are eating while sitting on the living room furniture please be mindful.

No parties or gatherings are allowed. We ask that you if you have visitors other than those claimed in your booking that the total number of people does not exceed 5.

Quiet hours are from 9pm - 7am, because there are two rentals on this property we ask you be considerate of volume at all hours but especially between 9pm and 7am.

Be sure to lock all the doors when coming and going.

Breaking these rules can result in the termination of your booking.

    Great location for getting around west side North Seatttle and short drive to University District, Lake Union and Downtown.Unit is in good condition and clean, and easy access to Washer and dryer.

    Very clean. Just some minor things that i did not mention to the owner while I was there. Smelled a little musty because it is a basement but no big deal. Hairdryer did not work but I left them a note and I went without using one. I would prefer a regular coffee pot over a coffee press but we managed. The mattress seemed like it should be replaced because we kept being pulled to the middle due to being old, I think. The area was safe and very walkable. Cute basement apartment. Nice owners. I would stay again.

    We were in Seattle for our son’s graduation from UW. Henry’s Hideaway was the perfect place for our family of 4 adults. The location was near our son’s home so we were able to easily get back and forth between the two places during our celebratory weekend. Would certainly stay there again.

    Wonderful location! So convenient to great eateries, and a quick drive to everything Ballard has to offer. The bed was very comfy, plenty of space to spread out and relax in the whole space, including morning tea outside. The space is well appointed and had everything to meet our needs. One of the highlights was taking daily walks around this great neighborhood. We were always able to find a close parking spot on the road, as well. Loved walking to Delancey's!

    Perfect location for our family Christmas visit. Henry’s was just blocks from my daughter’s home- ideal for early Christmas morning ‘drop in’s’ and mid afternoon naps!The unit was cozy and clean.     The suite was perfect. It was very convenient to take D line downtown to Lumen. It was a bit tricky to figure out how to secure bus tickets but we managed. The local recommendations were spot on. We found the entryway to be overgrown and weedy which lacked an inviting vibe. This oversight could be easily addressed with some minor attention.The suite was great but we did hear every footstep upstairs.Thank you for being available when we forgot the entry code.

    This is a lovely unit tucked into a beautiful old Seattle neighborhood. It was so wonderful to walk around in the evening and see the old bungalows and gardens. In the morning, a short walk to a bustling coffee shop allowed for friendly small talk with locals. We stayed for two nights and originally had planned to go out for dinner on both nights (good restaurants within walking distance, by the way), but we were so comfortable that we decided to stay in on the 2nd night with take-out and a bottle of wine. As described, the unit is situated below a larger, upper unit. If the upper unit is occupied, you will hear footsteps and sometimes voices overhead. We introduced ourselves to those guests and found them to be gracious and glad to be mindful of noise. We would choose Henry's Hideaway again and highly recommend it to others!

    The owner renovations of this 2-bed apartment (former garage and basement) resulted in a really nice, amazingly light place to stay. The decor and furnishings are very nice. Very comfortable bed. Definitely would stay again!
