We really enjoy traveling as a couple and like to pick a base camp that we can venture out from day by day. We wanted to provide something similar for our guests. We had a lot of fun setting up Happy Honu Oasis (HHO) with this thought in mind. We hope you will settle in and feel comfortable there.

Stayed Oct 16, 2025We had a glitch with the lock but the owner was quick to respond to my phone call to give us the combo for the manual key, which I appreciated very much. The second bed was very small, the removable shower head line was leaking badly. The stove top and oven were dirty and the fan was also dirty. There was no complimentary coffee.

Stayed Dec 28, 2024This was the worst place we stayed in Hawaii. Dust, mold and even rotten food were found in the accommodation. The swimming pool is not heated as advertised. Any compensation was refused by the apartment manager. Avoid at all costs!

Stayed Feb 21, 2025Stayed Friday to Friday. Host was very responsive and helpful during the whole stay. Location is great with a vehicle- seems like you’re 7-10 minutes away from everything. Place was older but decorated well. It also had a small cooler, boogie board and snorkeling gear. Would recommend if staying in Hilo area.

Stayed Oct 29, 2024I enjoyed staying here and would stay there again. Had a little problem getting the lock on the door to open but it was rapidly corrected. The information regarding the wifi also needs to be updated. Other than that my stay was very pleasant.

Stayed Sep 14, 2024This property is in a good location in Hilo. Very convenient to visit nearby attractions. Also a good place to go to Volcano, Akaka falls and other attractions on the eastern side of the Big Island.

Stayed Jun 22, 2024The Happy Honu Oasis was in the perfect location: close to all of the things we wanted to do and removed enough to get the peace and quiet we needed. Our hosts communicated quickly. The apartment was really well thought-out from the binder of suggestions to the snorkeling equipment on the lanai. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed Feb 29, 2024This location was perfect for our stay in Hilo. Easy parking and close to a lot of amenities. Happy Honu Oasis had everything we needed and things we didn’t know we needed! So thankful for the cooler! The bed was very comfortable. While it is a bit dated, it is decorated adorably and very clean. Highly recommend.
