Summary:
Stunning, newly renovated condos nestled at the base of the sand dunes, offering the perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm. With the nearest public beach access just 0.8 miles down the street, enjoying the shoreline couldn’t be easier. Step inside to a fully equipped kitchen, then unwind on the front, rear, or side decks while your family explores the nearby dunes. Conveniently located near Pirate’s, the island’s favorite restaurant, and just a short drive to Dauphin Island’s best beaches!

The Space:
Enjoy your private balcony complete with patio furniture, perfect for relaxing outdoors. A stackable washer and dryer is conveniently located in a closet on the deck for easy access. Just half a mile away (about a 15-minute walk), you'll find Pirates Beach, a great restaurant, and a pool—everything you need for the perfect island getaway!

Guest Access:
You can take a scenic walk over the dunes to reach the water, though it's a bit far for carrying beach gear. The nearest public beach access is just 0.8 miles down the street for easy shoreline access. This unit is part of a four-plex building, offering a comfortable and convenient stay on the island!

The Neighborhood:
The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just down the road. The sanctuary is a well-known destination for birdwatchers in search of one of the hundreds of species that live in and migrate through the sanctuary year-round, such as herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour though the palmetto palms where they can experience the birds in the lush native flora and fauna of the island.

The Mobile Bay Ferry is located just a short drive away. The ferry, which departs every hour and a half during the day, transports passengers to the historic Fort Morgan located in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Just past the ferry is a popular boat launch on the island, where anglers launch their boats sunrise to sundown. Boat trailer parking for the boat launch can be tricky, especially during summer months, so Alvarado’s close proximity to the launch makes it an ideal location for anglers because of the extended boat parking offered to guests. Each unit can accommodate one boat trailer in addition to their parking.

The Dauphin Island Estuarium, an aquarium that is home to more than 100 different species of native Alabama marine life, and the historic Fort Gaines, where you can find guided tours of the 1821 fort that protected Mobile Bay during the Civil War, are both located within one mile of the property as well. There are three public beaches on Dauphin Island — the East End Public Beach, Bienville Beach and the West End Public Beach.

With the almost dozen restaurants and snack bars on the island, there’s no shortage of local fare and fresh seafood. Almost every menu on the island serves up the freshest seafood in the South, including freshly caught snapper, grouper, oysters and crab. During the summer there are outdoor movies shown on the West End of the island, and the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.

Even though the island is small (it’s only 14 miles long and less than 2 miles wide or less, in some areas), it offers an endless amount of activities for vacationers, including an 18-hole golf course and endless water activities. Boat, jet ski, stand-up-paddleboard and kayak rentals are available, as well as sunset cruises and beach access to most of the 17 miles of powder, white sand beaches that wrap around the island. These offerings, in addition to deep-sea fishing and diving, make this Gulf Coast sanctuary one of the top destinations for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Gulf.

We hope you enjoy your stay and enjoy exploring the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast during your visit!

Getting Around:
Because of the ideal location of this property, guests can take a quick drive or easily bike or walk to nearby attractions and restaurants. Although there is no public transportation, there are miles of walking and biking trails around the island that makes getting around a breeze. Bikes and golf carts are available to rent on the island! The Dauphin Island website is a great resources to stay up to date with events on Dauphin Island.

Other Things to Note:
This ground-floor unit is part of a four-unit house. There are approximately five steps to enter, with hand railings provided for added convenience. Pet-friendly with a $100 fee per dog, per stay (75lb max). Sorry, no cats! Dogs who are categorized as dangerous or aggressive according the ASPCA are not allowed. We love this rental! Have stayed here now 2 times! Convenient to everything! One little thing to be aware of is the water pressure. It's lacking. Other than that, 5/5

We had to change our stay a few times and Shane and the staff worked hard to find a solution and a time that would work for us. The onsite free washer and dryer, just for our unit (bring your own detergent) was such a wonderful addition to take advantage of.

This property is surprisingly cute --- so neat and tidy, equipped with everything a family needs. We especially appreciated the full sized washer and dryer as our fellas were there for fishing. Our son scaled the dune behind the condo and daily fished the cove and on around to the Gulf. It's a bit of a hike for beachgoers to take that route but just down the road are lots of pretty beaches. Dauphin Island never disappoints! And, by the way, this management team is A!!! I left an entire kitchen drawer full of things and they talked me thru getting it all back ... Even responding at 10:30 p.m. the night we departed!!! I'm sure had it been a real emergency while we were at the condo, they would have shown up at the door to help--- they are that quick! Totally amazed us how helpful they were. Great stay!

The property is older but updated. We had very little water pressure and some palmetto bugs around the back door. Property manager was quick to respond.

The condo was newly renovated in a great location and fully stocked. The owners communicated throughout when we had a few issues. The few things I noticed were that the back light was not working and the bed is broken, and there is a slight scratch musky odor that did not go away. Finally, we had to wash all the towels upon arrival as they did not smell clean.

The good: kitchen was clean and modern with everything we needed for our 6 day stay. Beds were comfortable. Smart TVs kept us entertained when we were in the apartment. The bad: Water pressure was atrocious - washing sunscreen and bug spray off took ages. (Good hot water though). A bit noisy when the people above us were walking around (not a huge deal and if you've lived in an apartment before you know the drill, but still worth mentioning)My main beef is with a management process: we were messaged that mgmt would change air filters on June 5 and to have our dog put away. Annoying they couldn't wait 3 days til we were gone but whatever, we left for the day with our dog and assumed it was done while we were out. However the next morning they showed up at about 830am to change the air filters. Thankfully we were home and could put our dog away (anyone who has a dog knows what a nightmare it would be for your dog to get loose while in an unfamiliar place). The ugly: bed spreads and throw blankets had a couple obvious stains that showed they were unwashed. One looked like muddy paw prints (I hope it was just mud) and another looked like a drop of mustard. Additionally, no warning about the fact that was no toilet paper. I know this is not uncommon for VRBOs but I've never stayed in one that didn't supply at least 1 roll. Overall, I would probably not stay here again.

Centrally located with restaurants within walking distance (under half mile or 4 long blocks) and beaches minutes away this is an ideal location. Beats a hotel room. We found shrimp off the boat 25 minutes away and plenty to do while we were there. Place was clean and adequately stocked with dishes, cook ware and utensils. Great for a couple or a couple with 2 childrenThanks for great visit!

Wonderfully clean and remodeled. Fully equipped kitchen, Great location; easy access to public beach accesses.Trundle bed was missing, ceiling fan controls need repair. Check in procedures are not sent until less than 24 hours prior to check in (vs. 3 day standard). Messaging on VRBO required 24 hours for response.

Excellent property! Exactly as listed. Perfect for a small family! Positives: Well-stocked kitchen. Plenty of space. Comfortable beds. Pet friendly! Excellent location on the Island! Negatives: (not under the property’s control) So many mosquitoes! Bring bug spray! Water pressure kinda stinks! You can hear everything above/below you. Would book again in a heart beat!

Our family stayed in 101. It was conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood. Property was mostly as described. We didn’t spend much time at the property because we were out and about sightseeing. We found the lack of luggage racks or dressers in the bedrooms to be an inconvenience when trying to get to your things. The bathroom had pink-colored mold around the tub tiles closest to the faucet, along with some long hair from a previous guest. We did not ask for attention to this as it would’ve been more of an inconvenience to deal with. We overlooked it. The floors are also unlevel and prevent the bedroom door from closing from the main living area for privacy. The hinge is almost off from past use trying to close the door. Overall, it was a good value and we would consider staying again.

Everything in the reviews was accurate. The sand dunes were really cool but be careful of the stickers. Don't take the dog in the dunes because of the stickers. The beaches were a very convenient drive from the condo. I appreciated the quick responses from the property manager. Yes, we would stay there again.

We had a 4 day 3 night stay in the unit above this. The day of our arrival, the property manager called to say that the unit were had booked, had a broken couch and would be willing to go to the unit above. After assuring us it was very similar we agreed. It was turned out great. The condo was clean and well appointed. There were smart TV’s that we were able to use logged into our own Netflix, Hulu, etc… The central location of the condo left us with easy access to wherever we wanted to go. The only cons, but not that big of a deal, were the bean bags in the 2nd bedroom were missing a lot of of filling and there was no garbage disposal. Again, those were not deal breakers. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and plan to be back! dunes above weee beautiful.
