This rental fit our needs to the tee. This beautiful house is in the heart of Boston. Great location to everything, with ease of access to food, fun and transit. The back patio was the cherry on top, a great place to sit and relax after a fun filled day.
The location, the home and the host were fantastic! Newbury street with its hustle & bustle, little shops and restaurants are just a block away. Do not miss La voile with its truly French cuisine or the salmon bagels at the thinking cup. After coming back in the evening from a long day out you can relax in the patio of the house and enjoy the serenity of the evening. In the morning get yourself some juice or coffee around the house or jog in the park that starts at your doorstep. Everything is near, museums, metro stations, Beacon hill, the freedom trail...We highly recommend!
Loved our stay here during the Boston Marathon. Centrally located for an easy walk downtown or to enjoy shopping and restaurants a block away. Therese met us the night we arrived. The stairs down to the bedroom were well designed and always felt safe when holding onto the railing to make it up and down. Also loved utilizing the kitchen for some meals.
The process was easy and the owner met us on site to show us around.
A great pleasure to stay in this clean, spacious, quiet apartment on a storied street in Boston. Fully stocked with linens and kitchen supplies. Repair to downstairs toilet needed and noted by owner. Her warm welcome and patience with our late arrival (due to heavy traffic) are much appreciated. Every reason to recommend.
So happy I found this place! The location was great - Boston Public Garden and Boston Commons were a short stroll down the pretty promenade in the middle of the street, plenty of dining options, T station, and even a 7-Eleven close by. Very quiet at night, although things seemed to get an early start in the mornings. The lodging itself was quite comfortable. Much more flexible than staying in a hotel. We even rescheduled delivery of a meal prep box so we could cook a few times, instead of eating out every night. Therese, our host, was very pleasant, helpful, and easy to communicate with. I wish we could have heard the stories behind the pictures in her home. (but maybe that's just my own curiosity...) All in all, I would absolutely stay here again. I only wish it could accommodate two couples, since our next trip will likely be for four.
This is a very nice apartment that occupies part of the ground level and the first level above ground. The front of the building is beautiful and bustling Commonwealth Ave., just a block off of the attractions of Newbury St. This apartment is in the back of the building, overlooking a classic Boston public alley that's absolutely silent at night. The apartment is as pictured here, larger than we expected, with everything you need -- full kitchen, washer/dryer, 1.5 baths, lots of seating, and a nice dining area in the bay window. There's access to either floor from outside. Once inside the apartment, there's a circular staircase that connects the two floors, which could be an issue for someone with limited mobility. There is a standard (non-circular) staircase that can get you to either floor, which requires going into the common area. The hostess was excellent, meeting us at check-in and showing us around, and was available by phone for the one minor issue we had (burned out bulb that left the bathroom dark, promptly remedied by me once she told me where the spare bulbs were). I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Boston for a week.
This is a beautiful , old and historic townhouse (brownstone) in the heart of the Back Bay of Boston. It is located on Commonwealth Avenue..a few blocks from Boston Commons. You can walk just about everywhere....and it is a mere few blocks to a T station. Just 1 block away is Newbury Street...packed with coffee shops, great restaurants, as well as a lot of variety in shopping..to fit most budgets! Therese met us at the door, as promised. She did a quick tour of her home, pointing things out and explaining how to operate the TV, etc. She was responsive to our texts with our questions as to how to do this or that....A suggestion would be to have more detail in the House Rules: how to turn on the power for the dishwasher, directions to operate the stove burners (the markings for HI, Med, simmer, etc. were worn off!! It worked, but a guessing game ! None of it a big deal...just save some questions for her. Also , Therese mentioned a few restaurants and grocery stores...which was great! However, it would have been really really helpful to have had the information written in the House Rules with names and addresses for a reference. STAR market is stellar!! A good walk away , but worth it. Trader Joes is nearby. There is a spiral staircase to the ground floor , which is the bedroom. It is narrow and steep...depending on your agility and width ....it could present a problem.
Perfect location for the luxury of selling off the car, living somewhere you can walk to anything and everything. The house is beautiful, clean and comfortable, and the host is welcoming, respectful and extremely helpful.
Boston’s engaging Back Bay was made even more special by being able to enjoy it from 116 Comm Ave. Not only a lovely private and quiet space, but accessible to all the Back Bay has to offer. Highly recommended.
