I stayed at this rental for 1 night - we got rebooked for the reminder of our stay. The kitchen/living room has significant water damage from the kitchen sink: the floor is lifted off all over + grease all over the floor from the garbage disposal leaking out (so on top of the hills on the floor, it’s also super slippery). Kitchen sink is basically unusable and disgusting. The living room table is missing screws and can’t be used because of lifted off floorboards. We couldn’t use the gas fireplace because there was real wood in there and charcoal all over the floor about 3 min after starting it (and closing the protecting metal curtain) when I realized that the wood was starting to catch on fire and turned off the whole thing. With 1 of the 2 heaters out of order, it basically leaves you with 1 small electric heater to heat the whole place so it was pretty cold overnight, so much so that one of my friends didn’t sleep until 3am. We got rebooked to another apartment the next day but had to spend 1-2hours over the phone to convince the property manager that we needed to be rebooked. They obviously know what’s going on with the unit and that it needs renovation but still renting it out. VRBO wouldn’t help because the People unit is managed by another rental company. At the end of the day, we got rebooked in a nice place but it’s just a lot of hassle for a weekend trip to the snow.
This condo is in a prime location, minutes from Kings Beach & NorthStar. If you don’t mind no WiFi, no heating, no dishwasher, oh and the worst cleaning service I’ve experienced, this place is for you. When we went to sleep the 1st evening & turned down the sheets, it was a surprise to see them covered in strands of human hair. Slept on the couch the 1st night which it’s supposed to pull out to a full size but the pullout is broken & collapses when you even sit on it. Several messages to the property manager did not provide good responses. When we came back from the mountain the next day, there was a garbage bag filled with clean sheets outside the door. When I went to change the sheets, got super grossed out because one of the pillows was so dirty & stained. When we had coffee the next morning, the mugs we pulled out of the cabinet weren’t clean…still had coffee residue in them. I can get over the soap dispenser in the bathroom being almost empty. I can’t get over the hot water being gone after two showers & my 9 yo having to deal w a cold water shower. I also had a hard time wondering what else wasn’t clean (like the blankets or duvet cover) if the sheets & pillows weren’t. I would never stay here again. This place could be very nice with some updates & a new cleaning service. Hope the owners are aware.
There was a very long walk with 3 sets of stair cases to get to our Condo. The master was a loft up 2 more flights of stairs. Accessibility was not for us. The location, cleanliness and communication with the VRBO team was excellent! I would definitely suggest this Condo for younger folks!
Spacious, well equipped, condo. It was clean and comfortable. I've stayed here several times in the last 4 years and I have only TWO items that should have your attention. 1) If it gets really cold, you may need to plug in the portable heaters as the fireplace might not generate enough heat. Vacassa has been wonderful in providing extra heating units on request. 2) keep in mind that the location is over a pass requiring SNOW TIRES or CHAINS when conditions warrant. CALTRAN is very strict about allowing only cars with snow tires or chains on CA-267 so if you don't have them, you will not be able to get up or back to the condo and may (as I did) have to hire a hard-to-get taxi. That said, I will be coming back again and again.
Nice place. Things are hidden in closets (ie microwave) so look around if you don't find anything. Not a bad location skiing and towns aren't too far away.
Was kind of tricky to find but got situated easily! Would stay again.
We found the setting of this property to be very nice, but it had some major drawbacks. The lack of any central heating system was a problem. The gas fireplace was inadequate as a heating device, and only one of two electric wall heaters was working. That left electric space heaters, which are notoriously dangerous. It was 29 overnight and we couldn't get the temperature to 65, and felt uncomfortable leaving the fireplace or space heaters on while we slept. No extra blankets either. The bedspread and matching pillow covers were heavily soiled. Kitchen had decent utensils and coffee maker. We never had to ask about a rental having central heat in cold climates but we will after this.
This was exactly what we were looking for! A nice little apartment in a beautiful setting! We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon!
This location was great! It was a decent size for our family of 4. The biggest and only complaint was that there wasn’t wifi or cable - a huge bummer when you want to unwind for the day. I hope that they can add it to the amenities! There also isn’t a dishwasher - not a big deal, but something to mention. Overall, we would stay again :)
The location is great, just a few min to the beach, biking hiking etc. you can see the owner has made updates inside but could use a few more. Overall nice for the 2 of us…. Would be extremely tight for more than 2 people.
