Xanadu - Zen waterfront retreat on Upper Rideau

Peaceful retreat for a family vacation.

I booked this space for close friends and family to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed the comfortable spaces, beds, the hot tub, pool table, camp/stove fires, and the BBQ. The space was immaculate when we arrived and our hosts had everything ready and available for us. It’s the most pleasant experience I have had with a property rental and I am so grateful. On top of everything else, the highlight of the property is how nestled in nature it feels, surrounded by deer, birds and other small wildlife who made the trip even better. Thank you!

A magnificent property that fully delivers on the promise in the listing. Our hosts were attentive and gracious – we loved the fluffy robes included in every room, and the welcome note and chocolates are a nice touch. The property is stunning and quiet with birdhouses and feeders in abundance to create a near constant show of blue jays, cardinals, and various other species. Daily visits from the family of deer were a highlight for sure. The cottage is beautiful – high end furnishings, very clean, and with everything we needed to cook all our meals. The wood burning fireplace is great for ambiance as well as heat, and the pool table got plenty of use! We were able to visit several great hiking trails within a short drive. This was a perfect spot for a family retreat and lasting memories.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Morning or afternoon, there is a lovely shaded place to sit and relax. The deer that roam through the property in the morning and evening were very entertaining. The kids loved the pool table. The lake front is clean and clear, great to swim off the dock. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The hosts responded quickly to our questions and were very helpful in ensuring we had a great stay. It was one of our best cottage vacations.

Our family of 5 adults and an infant thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. There are many options to choose from to either just relax or be entertained with yard games, the hot tub, the lake and the beautiful gardens. We hope to return again!

Had a wonderful week at Xanadu with my husband and our little dog Skye. Perfect house with everything you could wish for for a relaxing getaway. The lake is beautiful and the friendly deer that visited each day was a real treat, there were also beautiful birds daily at all the bird feeders around the grounds. Westport itself has some lovely gift shops and restaurants. Booking was made very easy and any questions answered immediately and great experience all round.

We were delighted with our experience at Xanadu! From the beautiful location, lovely comfortable home with such a welcoming feeling! It was obvious this is a well cared for home and all the attention to details was impressive… we also appreciated the extras everywhere, from treats to firewood and bathrobes!!! It was wonderful Would definitely recommend this location!

Overall your getting exactly what is being advertised. Its an unbelievable piece of property. Two items that we think should be addressed, there's a semi-public boat launch right next to the private dock and we weren't made aware so you will have people driving through the property and launching their boats... all day while your trying to chill. Also they are still using the wire brush type cleaners for the BBQ which these days is a big no-no.
