NOTE
THIS IS A NON-SMOKING/VAPING HOME.
No grill at this home.
This property is 1.3 miles from the heart of downtown but we would recommend transportation since it's not walk-friendly.
ALL mountain roads can be steep and dark at times. They may be daunting to an inexperienced mountain driver. The Matterhorn Chalet is located in a quiet mountain subdivision on a circular one-lane road. Although it's a short road with street lights, it is tight, steep, and curvy. Please try to plan your arrival during the daytime if you are intimidated by mountain roads.
WINTER
Please note that we do experience snow on occasion. The HOA does a great job of keeping the roads scraped but they only scrape after the snow ends. So, please be aware of the weather and know that there is the potential for snowy weather. Please plan accordingly.
PARKING AND MOUNTAIN ROADS
Parking space is scarce so please be aware of this. We are having our parking space redone so temporary parking is being utilized. If you have a smaller vehicle please bring it. Two small spaces.
The mountain roads are sometimes steep and sometimes curvy. The neighborhood roads are narrow and curvy so please use extra precaution when driving through there.
No smoking, vaping, or candles.
Must be at least 25 years old to reserve this property.

It was fine
We stayed here with a couple friends for the weekend and it was perfect! Short Uber or Lyft to downtown and dog friendly. We would definitely stay again!
Excellent property. Comfortable and convenient. 2 extremely small points. Refrigerator doesn’t have an ice maker, so if you are going to need very much ice, bring a bag of ice. The washer and dryer are in a building across the street (20 feet away). Would definitely stay there again!
The property was clean and well equipped, however it is not the easiest location to get to. Narrow winding road that is 2 way traffic with only room for one vehicle. I had to back up to a wider portion of the road twice because I met an oncoming car coming downhill. Certainly arrive in daylight, not darkness. Previous renter had left a small bag of trash in container outside front door and there are definitely bears in the area. We live in the mountains and are very accustomed to wild bears, but these have been acclimated to humans and do not leave easily. Trash dump is about 100 ft. from house and they were there every night. Be cautious and carry a spotlight at night if walking your dog. Luckily I spotted the trash outside of the front door when we first arrived, but according to a neighbor, that happens quite often so check it when arriving. Would not stay here again.
Overall the Matterhorn Chalet is a wonderful place for a couple, family with 1-2 children, or two friends (possibly even two couples). The home is very cozy with a working fireplace and nice views from its perch on the hillside. The internet is OK in terms of speed, though we had trouble with the cable (we didn't exactly need it so we didn't call). The home itself is conveniently located near groceries, attractions and the like; and it has everything you need for your stay. Please note it is a bit tricky getting into the house/subdivision, so pay close attention as you head uphill. As a final note: while the house is dog friendly, finding space to walk dogs is challenging, and would be difficult for picky pups. However, this is VERY common with many rentals in Asheville. If you dogs needs a yard or green space consider something on flat land. Otherwise, Haw Creek Park is very close a great for letting your dogs stretch their legs.
the house was almost exactly as stated. although ways and google map had a hard time pinpointing the exact location we found it after the second pass. the house shows as maroon colored when actually it has a gray exterior. comfy, clean and interior exactly as shown. we had a wonderful stay and downtown is so very close. two thumbs up.
We loved our stay. The location is incredibly convenient. You’re up on top of a mountain but 5 minutes to downtown. Lots of trees and wildlife (yes, we did see the bears - a mama and 3 cubs!) Also good wifi and enough space to spread out. I would definitely choose this house again. It was a great fit for our family.
Super clean property. Loved the setting, trees and birds. A lovely respite!
Gr8 restaurants with eelcoming staff for dogs& humans
Everything was exactly as represented with a responsive property manager. On the side of a mountain yet mere minutes from downtown. 5 stars!
Very nice accomodations… clean, welcoming. Would recommend to others.
This was perfect for what we wanted! Rustic, but very clean. My husband and dog and I were very comfortable there! It’s nestled in the the trees up a windy skinny road. There are other chalets around, but it still felt very secluded. I definitely recommend this spot! Thank you
The chalet is conveniently located in Asheville, but feels like you’re in the country! The home was clean and all amenities were provided. The appliances are updated and we had everything we needed. The roads leading up to the home are one lane with tight curves - I’d definitely recommend arriving in daylight. We had a great time and would stay here again!
We loved the location of the chalet. We could hear traffic but loved being close to town. It made access easy.
Loved this place. Great view. Clean and spacious. Easy drive to everything.
Property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Only disappointment we didn’t see any bears.
The Matterhorn did not disappoint! Cleanliness is number one for us and it was very clean! Updated very nicely and had all the little touches we liked … plenty of TP, soap, dishwasher liquid and tissues! Nicely stocked kitchen: good coffee, both basic grounds and pods were provided for the Keurig. The beds were very comfortable and the living room furniture comfy. Three TVs in the house! The gas fireplace was also a nice amenity. Only thing we did not use was the washer/dryer that was located in the house across from the property. There was a nice dog walk trail that lead to another road and community that helped us get our pup a good walk in each day. Asheville is did not disappoint either.. foodie city, history and hiking.
We were very comfortable with this little home in the treetops. It was clean, well equipped, and well organized - clear directions for the tvs, fluffy towels, everything you would need in the kitchen etc. Communication with the house manager was prompt and easy with clear directions about check in and check out sent in advance. The home is one of 12 delightful chalets located on a short loop carved out of a steep mountainside, but just a short drive to downtown Asheville . If you have a big car, navigating the narrow, steep loop will be challenging. It is a is quiet, secluded getaway and very dog friendly with a place mat and two bowls waiting for our Havanese when we walked in the door.
We loved the Matterhorn Chalet! Beautiful view, comfortable porch with rocking chairs, and so close to everything!
We had a very pleasant stay at the Matterhorn. The weather was wonderful, and the cabin was close to all of Asheville's areas of interest. We gave Ron our suggestion for areas of improvement.
The cabin was a very nice place to stay for the week.
The area was beautiful and check in and out process was very easy.
