Beautiful private family home, formerly the winter residence of Baroness Ilia van Harinxma thoe Slooten, is situated on the very edge of Crans-Montana. Its special warm atmosphere, combined with luxury, open log fires, stripped wooden floors, oil paintings and antiques bring character and warmth to rival any Alpine chalet. It will without doubt, leave you with a lasting impression: modern comfort and amenities combined with classic furnishings render this chalet into a truly unique place. Over the years many famous personalities have enjoyed the chalet and its gorgeous views over the Rhone Valley with over fifteen 4000 meters + mountains, including the Weisshorn (4505), the Matterhorn / Cervin (4477), the Mont Blanc (4807), the Dent Blanche (4357).
About the location: Crans-Montana has so much to offer: High mountains (with a glacier on 3,000 metres), for summer and winter skiing, cross country skiing. Authentic places like Sion and Vale d’Anniviers will make your holiday very enjoyable. Taste the real Valaisan atmosphere in the local restaurants and pubs. There is a very adequate choice of some 80 restaurants, some 20 bars, there is a casino, cinema's etc. And don't forget the après ski.
The chalet is located in Bluche, a small village which is situated next to Crans-Montana. Bluche has four restaurants and a small supermarket.
Golf: There are three 18 hole golf courses are found in the region, day tickets can be bought for about 40 EUR :
in Crans, in Sierre (15 kiometres) and Sion (20 kilometres). For further details, please ask us.
Ski: Below the 3000m high glacier Plaine Morte one finds a skiing area which leaves nothing to be desired. Skiers and snowboarders from beginners to experts will all find a vast choice of suitable slopes. Besides skiing and snowboarding you can have a go at ski bobbing or, if you favour a less adrenaline pumping pastime, langlauf.
As it lies well above the snow line you can ski year round on Plaine Morte.
The lower pistes have a very good track record regarding snow cover. In addition there are more then 150 snow machines which help in keeping the pistes in first class condition. The Crans -Montana-Aminona area is served by a large number of modern ski-lifts. Ques are therefore virtually unkown.
An attractive feature of the Crans -Montana- Aminona resort is that you can cover the entire area, from Crans Cry'd Erre in the west until Aminona in the east, skiing. Bus or car transfers to reach certain lifts are not necessary.

We love this mansion chalet in the mountains. A sturdy and enduring well built old house, with splendid art and antiques for which Ralph Lauren, Valentino, and Wes Anderson would all crawl naked through broken glass. Plenty of lovely south facing bedrooms, with splendid views. Vraiment la Suisse de notre jeunesse.
Fabulous chalet with excellent views, great location and superb hosts Highly recommend this venue. A real home from home. We will be back.
Everything has been absolutely perfect ! The Chalet is astonishing, the views, the spaces, the quality of the the welcome, you feel at the hotel with a total privacy ! Tiago has been so professional and kind, I definitely recommend !!
It was a wonderful traditional chalet. Each bedroom had its own character and all were in perfect condition. The layout of the house was perfect, had a beautiful front living room with a fire place and piano for after meal chats and games. Had a TV room downstairs which we used as a den for the kids who all played their board games down there which was perfect. The chef that was suggested was fantastic and very friendly plus the assistant that was provided was extremely helpful and was always there to attend to my big families every need. The villa had hardly any neighbours and the view was just incredible, nothing blocking the view and the sunrises and sunsets were truly magical. On top of this the sauna was a great addition as well as the well positioned hot tub to watch the sunrise and sunset. I would truly recommend this villa as it was a perfect stay!!
We have recently returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful property. Perfect location in private grounds, yet close to all amenities. The wonderful views of the mountains and valleys from every room will stay with us forever! Excellent for large family gatherings ( we were 13 in total) - so much space ! And unique history. The owner, Tiago, was most helpful, responding to any requests, and giving suggestions for places to visit. So thank you again for a memorable stay.
This magnificent, spacious chalet was perfect for a family reunion where 15 of us (4 generations) gathered to celebrate a 90th birthday. Lots of beautiful, large bedrooms with ensuites and a huge, comfortable living room where we could all be together, as well as a dining room with a long table and enough chairs for the whole group. Spectacular views from virtually every room and a lovely garden. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. Cleaners came twice during our 11 day stay and the host was very pleasant - easy to communicate with and responding quickly to queries. Loved our stay here and hope to be back one day.
Great chalet, we had a fantastic holiday.
The photos do not portray the fantastic panoramic views from the property.Anna came in on a daily basis and was superb - thank you Anna. A trip that will live in our memories for a long time
We love the chalet!!! It is fabulous and cosy lovely. Definitely recommend!!!!
We stayed at La Grande Baronne in Feb 2015 for a family ski week (two families - 4 adults and 5 kids in total). We were looking for a place where we could spend some quality time together, while also enjoying the views and activities of the Swiss Alps. And, this place was perfect for both. The accommodations were perfect (with room for another family or two). Most all the bedrooms (except the basement) had porch access with mountain views and their own bathrooms. And, as an added touch, bathrobes, slippers and water (still and sparkling) were provided in every room. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need, including enough coffee (Nespresso pods) for several coffee-addicts. The dining area sat all of us comfortably (with room for many more). And, the living room was very comfortable, especially by a warm fire. The piano was an extra nice benefit as one of our friends is a great piano player who provided extra entertainment (he doesn't come with the place, but I'm sure he'd consider joining you if you paid his way...). After a full day of skiing, we also enjoyed the hot tub, just steps from the kitchen door. From a location perspective, it is very well located (although not ski in/out). It was just a 5 minute drive to Crans Montana (I believe the Violette ski lift is the closes one). And, of course, of same distance to the main areas of Crans and Montana where there are plenty of shops and restaurants - although, we spent most of our time in the comfort of the chalet, and only ventured out to eat once (great fondue at Petit Paradis, which was a 5-minute walk from the chalet.) While a few of us ski'd every day, others ventured to Gruyere and other places for day trips, which were also fairly close by (an hour drive or so). Tiago was also great in helping us with anything we needed. From ordering bread delivery in the morning (great bread and croissants) to helping with all the questions we had before our visit. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. We cant wait to go back - and are considering adding another family to the mix next time.
