The Playful Bear is a beautifully decorated 3-bedroom, 3 bathroom cabin just a mile from the parkway in Pigeon Forge, and only five miles from Dollywood. This cabin has been lovingly reimagined and decorated in earthy tones and textures like stacked stone, hardwood floors, and rustic barn wood walls to create a modern rustic mountain lodge, with a few fun (and playful!) surprises. Every piece of furniture and décor is new, including many one-of-a-kind items handmade by local craftsmen. With beds for twelve, and a dedicated game room and theater space, there is something for everyone.

Just inside the door of The Playful Bear you will find a completely new kitchen with hickory cabinets, leathered granite countertops, a large farmhouse sink, a stacked stone island and backsplash, new appliances, and everything you need to whip up something good to eat. The kitchen opens to the dining area with a vaulted ceiling featuring rustic rough sawn beams and a large table that seats 8+ people. With four swivel stools at the counter, everyone has a spot to sit and gather for meals, conversation, and games. Beyond the dining area the vaulted ceiling and beams continue through the main living room which offers a gas fireplace, custom tables crafted from 100-year-old barn wood and logs, a large TV, plenty of seating options, and a cabinet filled with games and books for all ages. Walk through the living space and out onto the open deck with peekaboo mountain views, a beautiful spot to enjoy a mug of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening as you watch the sun set on the horizon.

The Playful Bear offers three king bedrooms plus another fun sleeping area. The two spacious bedrooms on this level are each furnished with new mattresses, cozy cotton quilts, nightstands, a large dresser and mirror, a TV, and each has their own attached bathroom with a handmade log vanity. One offers a double jetted tub and the other offers direct access to the back deck. The third bedroom is on the lower level, offers a king bed and new mattress topped with a cozy quilt, two handmade log nightstands, a TV, a large dresser, and a brand new bathroom just down the hall.

Another sleeping space on the lower level is the Bear's Den, which is sure to capture the hearts of your little ones! The Bear’s Den is accessed through a barn door in the lower-level king bedroom and has two sets of triple bunks on each side. Each bunk has its own reading light as well as a wooden shelf and charging outlet right next to it. This might well be the best place to sleep in the cabin, but remember…don’t wake the bear!!

On the lower level the rustic vibe of The Playful Bear continues but becomes a bit more colorful as you enter the phenomenal game room and theater space. It’s this space that inspired the cabin’s name! It will be Game On as you go head-to-head on the shuffleboard table, giant size wall mounted Connect Four game, PacMan cocktail arcade table, or play a game of Tempest, Astroids, or another challenge at the Atari Multi-cade. Keep track of your team on the wall mounted TV or try a game of checkers at the table.

Just beyond the game room is the theater space where you can use the projector to stream your favorite movie. Settle in to authentic movie theater seating, relax in a bean bag chair, or perch on a stool at the bar top as you enjoy popcorn or a drink from the snack bar. You can close the room darkening curtains for a true movie theater experience or keep them open to the game room – it’s up to you! The covered porch can be accessed from either the game room or theater space, and its string lights, porch swing for two, bistro table, TV, and inviting hot tub can even be enjoyed in the rain since there is a metal roof above it.

Would you like to go fishing while you are in town or go swimming The Playful Bear has access to Honeysuckle Meadows seasonal outdoor swimming pool, deli, and year round outdoor fishing access. The cabin is located about 10.3 miles from the pool. The Playful Bear not only has access to one fishing pond, but two. You do not have to have a fishing license to fish at this private catch and release fishing area. This Honeysuckle Meadows outdoor recreation area features beautiful Wears Valley area Views of the surrounding Mountain Area. Parking for up to 3 vehicles. Sleeps 12. Pet free. Smoke free.

The house was great for what we needed it for. The kids enjoyed the games and the hot tub and the theater. Instructions on using each of the TVs would’ve been helpful. One TV was very hard to get into because it wanted a checkout date and didn’t like the checkout date that we were putting in so it was probably a 30 minute process to use the TV in the downstairs bedroom. I think it had a guest restriction or something on it. The theater was so fun. One movie we tried to watch was hard to hear. Not sure why. We played all the games, enjoyed the hot tub while watching part of a movie. It was quiet. Wish we had a view off the porch but the privacy was nice. The bathroom in the master upstairs kept locking me in.

The good:We really enjoyed our stay! The house was clean, cozy, and in a great location. The kids loved the bunk beds, games, and hot tub, and the kitchen had all the appliances we needed.Cons:A few small things could be better: the house is stocked more like a model home — no salt or sugar, and only a small amount of dish soap. The popcorn machine needs a little maintenance since popcorn gets stuck and the small bottom door is broken. Only one bathroom had 1 liquid soap, 1 shampoo, and 1 conditioner; the others only had a single bar soap for hands. My biggest issues:1.The remotes — even after emailing the host, the problem wasn’t resolved. They really need to label the remotes, check all the Rokus, and provide a short guide for the projector.2.The beds in the upstairs room (closest to the living room) and the downstairs room by the inlets both need their screws tightened — they creak with every move.

Check-in was easy. Wi-Fi was fine. The dishwasher did not work. I had to buy dish soap and a sponge to do the dishes. They only provided a tiny little bottle of dish soap. The kitchen was well stocked, but could use a few plastic cups for the kids.

Our only complaint was the “community pool” and lake was about a 20 minute drive from the cabin. The cabin itself was perfect and as advertised.

My 'framily' and I recently stayed at the Playful Bear and had a great experience. The property is well-suited for families and friends with children and teenagers, given its close proximity to numerous attractions.

We enjoyed our stay, the cabin was beautiful, clean, spacious, had everything we needed. The only drawback was the back deck with the hot tub, my son in law did not feel it was sturdy enough, therefore, the kids only used it once. The other drawback was the neighborhood, for us, it was not private enough. The houses are very close together. Loved the house and the office people we talked to were fantastic, always ready to answer a question. We would use the company again, maybe just not in that area.

The property was as advertised, and shown in the pictures. We have a family of 10, plus 2 boyfriends, with most of us being adult sized. We utilized everything in this cabin, and i can say i was thankful for the variety of things people were able to involve themselves in. We cooked meals, played games, watched movies, etc. We were grateful for the washer and dryer, and ran about 2 loads a day every day, with the size of our crew. I would have liked to play the shuffleboard table more, as it was fun. However, we found that with the cover over it (this was very helpful to have considering the sand) the table made a good trough to spread out the laundry in. So it was covered much of the time. The movie area was my personal favorite, to close the curtain and have a little bit of seclusion from the activity was nice. The bedrooms were very nice, and overall, the cabin was very nicely finished and maintained. With that said, i do have a suggestion for the owner, and maybe a heads up to other users. The downstairs room with 6 bunks is good for accomodatting a larger crew, like ours. However, everyone has to go into the one downstairs bath to change...and shower...and use the restroom. This creates quite a bottleneck. With 2 beds and 2 baths upstairs, and 7 beds and 1 bath dowstairs, it doesn't work well. I would recommend a remodel downstairs to add a half bath if possible. This would be immensely helpful. Overall, we loved our stay though. Great cabin!

This is a good house. The interior is clean and great for kids. The game room / theatre in the basement is really cool and our kids loved it. The exterior decks were a bit dirty and in the summer time there is literally zero view of the mountains. Nonetheless, the house is in a great location and a very good value for the money.
