Wonderful place to stay for the whole family. There is a lot to do if you just want to stay in, or Gaylord is a wonderful place for your shopping needs. We spent a day walking downtown, lunch out and picking up a few thinks at Meijers.
We had a great stay. The Bear's Den is clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the kayaks and swimming off the dock. We took some day trips to the U.P. and Petoskey and then enjoyed the hot tub and pool table when the sun went down. Would definitely stay again.
I have to say, this was THE BEST stay we’ve had at a VRBO! It was spotless (shout out to the cleaning crew?), had everything we needed. The views were beautiful, and the setting was so peaceful. Communication was great, and fast. We enjoyed fishing, and the walks around the lake. We were able to visit Petoskey, Charlevoix (recommend the Mushroom Houses tour), Mackinac Island, Leland, Suttons Bay,and Traverse City. We can’t recommend this place enough! We are already trying to coordinate the rest of our grown kids schedules so that we can all come back together next year.
Loved loved the Bears Den would stay again
Dorene was so communicative and sweet. She made settling into our stay fun and easy. The place has everything you need for a nature-packed, activity-filled stay up north! Can’t recommend this place enough.
We are so grateful to Dorene for her flexibility when an unexpected blizzard brought us to the area early. The Bear’s Den was spacious and welcoming, with many lovely touches for Christmas including a small tree! The boys loved the pool table and we all spent hours in the hot tub as the snow fell.
Beautiful views, love the wood burning stove and the hot tub was the cherry on top! We had fun with the pool table, would be nice to have some new board games available. We would stay here again!
I couldn't have asked for a better property for myself and my two coworkers for our weeklong stay working nearby. It was reasonably priced, nice, and clean. Dorene was a fantastic host as well! Kind, communicative, and attentive! If anyone is looking for a rental in this area, I suggest this one!
Fabulous house
The house/property was exactly as we expected. The lake and fall colors where beautiful! We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere - yet we were close to hiking trails and restaurants. Our favorite hike was the Pine Baron Trail system.
This house is quintessential up north Michigan. Great amenities, everything you need to enjoy your quiet house in the woods.
My adult children, my spouse, my dog and I had a fun vacation at the Bear's Den! The property was comfortable and tidy and well-equipped. Bath towels and kitchen supplies were abundant and everything worked. We enjoyed dining and card games at the kitchen table and lounging around the upper and lower decks. Kayaking and swimming on the no power lake was great and we enjoyed the quietude of the no power lake. We enjoyed a fire at the fire pit and went over to the nearby P.O.A. landing area to see if we could catch any meteor showers. (Not the best viewing this year due to the timing of the full moon, but we did get to cast moon shadows along the road to and from the P.O.A. landing.) The bedrooms were on the small side, but that's not where we were spending our time. The public areas on the upper and lower levels were great for talking, hanging out together and watching a bit of television. The location is close enough to town and other activities that we had no trouble filling our time or getting items that we needed. The grill was good to have for cooking dinners, but we did order out one evening from the Iron Pig Smoke House - It's yummy if you're a fan of smoked meats! The roads in the Lake Arrowhead development were well maintained. On our first night there, there was a rain storm that caused some wash out areas on the roads, but they were manicured back into place within a day or two. The other folks we ran into in the neighborhood were all very friendly. Although this was a bit further from home than we wished it were, it has a lot to offer for a great family vacation!
Nice location and conveniently located to all we wanted to do. Well stocked with basic supplies as well.
Perfect for our 4th of July week … Cabin was clean, with a peaceful view and had everything our family needed.
