Stayed Aug 4, 2016We loved our very private three bedroom + three bath, two story apartment in this historic castle. It is spacious, beautifully furnished. And it has its own tower. The patio with arbor and view was a great place to dine. Staying here was a highlight of our trip. A good base from which to make day trips (Siena, Florence, Montepulciano). We were made to feel welcome.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I cannot express how much we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Castle di Montalto . It is truly a magical place. To celebrate my wife’s birthday and our tenthly wedding anniversary we couldn’t have picked a better place. We traveled with our daughter (6) and two of our closes friends. We stayed in the Two Towers which combines Torre del Vescovo with San Martino. Both places were nicely appointed with everything we needed. It was amazing having a private court yard and a terrace with a million dollar view. My daughter and I started our days at Montalto on one of the beautiful hikes through the country side. She truly found the place magical, she dubbed the monks room as the princess room, and entertained herself on the fantasy of being a Princess, which I guess she was. It was great fun seeing the wonder and amazement of a six year old exploring a real Castle. During the day we would explore Siena or one of the interesting villages around Chianti. One of the days we toured with Tuscany Scooter Rentals, what a great perspective seeing Chianti on a Vespa. Most evenings started by enjoying wine on the terrace while enjoying a beautiful sunset. Then it was off to one the great local restaurant recommended by our gracious concierge Melanie , a true friend for life, her in-depth knowledge of the area is amazing . She was “spot on” on all of her recommendations. You have to try L'Orciaia a small family restaurant with world class food and it’s just a few minute drive from Montalto. After dinner most nights we concluded our evening enjoying a fire in the main salon while recounting the day’s activates. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon we spent with Giovanna and Diana, the owners of Montalto, they opened their private residence to all the guest and shared their story and the history of the Castle. Montalto is a true historical treasure, we will be back. beautiful Chianti region of Tuscany

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We rented out the entire castle for a week to serve as a wedding location/vacation post for 41 of our closest family and friends. For the castle, everyone had an amazing time. It is centrally located in tuscany and our group enjoyed being able to do quick day trips to surrounding cities and towns. At the castle, we enjoyed hiking around the area, bike riding, playing tennis and swimming in the pool. We loved having our own private rooms if folks wanted to retreat and also loved the big open spaces for group dinners, etc. All of our friends and family say that the week at the castle was the best vacation they have ever been on, and we quite agree!! We had our wedding ceremony in the main courtyard, with appetizers under the Linden tree and dinner in the main hall. The venue was absolutely perfect and Diana and Alessandro were so very helpful in the planning process. Our wedding was magical and to be quite honest, there is nothing that I would change about it (food, flowers, etc. were all perfect!!). It was great having everything in one location and even better that no one had to drive after the drinking and dancing late night. Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about the Castello and I really do hope to visit again. Our group loved it so much that we are hoping to try to organize a reunion here in a few years, it was magical and amazing and exceeded all of my expectations.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband and I wanted a small wedding in Tuscany, and when we found Castello di Montalto, we thought it fit the bill. We had no idea how wonderful it actually would be. Diana and Giovanni were gracious hosts. Diana was incredibly helpful in advising us with our arrangements as we tried to coordinate a wedding overseas. When we arrived, we couldn't have asked for a better welcome. Diana and Alexander had everything ready for us and our guests, and they were very accommodating. The castle grounds are spectacular. We enjoyed morning walks during which we admired the wild flowers, spotted deer, found porcupine quills and leftovers from the wild boars. The apartments were clean and comfortable, with everything we needed to entertain ourselves. The huge linden tree was the perfect backdrop for our wedding, and the granaio was a great space for dining and dancing. The location was a great launching point for wine tasting in Tuscany. The towns nearby are charming and offer lovely restaurants and more views of the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, and we hope to be back soon. Thank you, Diana and Giovanni!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We recently returned from a short stay at the castle and what a great experience!! We certainly wish we could have stayed longer! The pictures I took of the castle and surrounding area are truly amazing! Our accomodations were extremely nice and clean with very good amenties. The owners and staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, and an evening tea with the owners was truly a highlight of our stay as we learned a little history of Montalto and the area. What a treat!! We hope to make a return trip to the castle in the very near future!
