Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.

NOTE – This listing is for the Lupin Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Sage Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 815550. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically.

Our cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. There is also a foldout sofa bed that is the size of a full mattress.
The cabin has a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue

When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.

Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.

Unfortunately no pets or dogs are allowed. Yosemite is not very dog friendly. You won't be able to take your dog with you on hikes.

Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.
The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.
The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have evaporative coolers that work great to keep the cabins cool during the summer..
Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.
There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

Current Yosemite road and weather conditions can be found by calling Yosemite National Park at 209-372-0200. Current road conditions in the State of California can be found by calling Caltrans at 800-427-7623.

Grocery Stores/Markets near cabins – Crane Flat Gas Station/Market (8 miles), Yosemite Village Market (13 miles), El Portal Market on Hwy 140 (14 miles).

Hilltop Cabins practices good neighbor policies. A signed rental agreement and ID verification are required.

Very nice cabin in perfect location for Half Dome, El Capitan, Sentinel Dome, Yosemite Valley, several waterfalls, hiking, you name it . Perfect size for a couple. Couple things would make it better: Suggest internet that you can use for streaming video on those days weather does not permit outings, a larger TV and a basic satellite TV subscription. Thanks!

The cabin was perfect for our stay; while other cabins are near there was a sense of privacy and seclusion that we were looking for. A nice way to really disconnect. The best part is the location. Yosemite is a big park and depending on where you want to go, it maybe a long drive. However, being so close to the valley really helps with being able to explore the highlights of the park with minimal drive time. Steve was a wonderful host. Extremely communicative and filled with helpful Yosemite knowledge. It’s clear he really cares about his cabins and ensuring you will want to come back. 10/10!

The cabin is clean, comfortable, well appointed and perfectly located. We had a wonderful stay, cooked all our meals on-site, slept well in the comfy bed. Our host was amazing, spending several hours at the cabin while we were out for the day, eliminating a yellowjacket issue. Only 20 minutes from the valley, but we headed up to Hetch Hetchy one day and to Tuolumne Meadows another day. It is so peaceful at the cabin after a hectic day in the Park. Highly recommend the Lupin cabin and would definitely stay again.

The bed was very comfortable, the Weber grill was outstanding, and the automatic ice maker was much appreciated! Communication with the host was great. We would absolutely stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to Yosemite. Thanks for a great stay!

Remote quiet place. Could use some updating. Tight quarters but you are in Yosemite to be outside. Could not fit more than 3 adults. Basic accommodations but appreciate the big fridge with ice maker and ability to make breakfast in the morning. Smells a little musty including sheets. Convenient to be inside the park. Good communication with Steve.

A beautiful, well-equipped cabin; the perfect base for our family’s stay in Yosemite. A short drive to many of the must-sees in the park. Excellent communication from the owner ahead of our trip - everything was really well explained. The only area for improvement would have been some more pillow cases for the sofa bed (there was only one). Everything else was perfect and my husband and kids all said how comfortable the beds were!

The Lupin Hilltop Cabin is in Foresta, CA which is a small community located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Only about 6 miles from the busy Yosemite Valley, the cabin is surrounded by quiet forested land and other privately owned cabins. Lupin Cabin is a two-room cabin with a bathroom separating the living/kitchen room and the bedroom. There is one relatively high step up onto the porch but everything else is on one floor except for the alcove with a ladder, which is probably fine for older kids. My husband is mobility challenged with a walker but was able to step up to the porch with assistance. You can park the car very close to the porch as well. The king bed was greatly appreciated and was very comfortable. We brought our own shower chair and that worked for getting in and out of the tub/shower. We ate most meals on the porch and enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife. During our week’s stay we saw deer, jackrabbits, and even a bobcat. There is no dishwasher and no washer and dryer, but the location is wonderful. The other Hilltop cabin is directly behind the Lupin cabin. The owner was very welcoming and responded immediately when we had a small problem with the ceiling fans. The cabin was very clean and was stocked with books about Yosemite including nature guides and bird guides. The wifi was usually pretty good for checking emails and even for some zoom meetings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and can’t wait to return.

This was our first trip to Yosemite and only staying 3 days so ideally wanted somewhere inside the gates to save time and avoid queues. Most accommodation in the valley was out of budget or already booked up, so this place was perfect! It was clean and had everything we needed. In a very quiet neighbourhood away from tourist areas and yet only a 25min drive to the valley which is great!

It was conveniently located to the valley and also to tioga pass. The WiFi was pretty good and we enjoyed the dvd’s. The host was really helpful and communicative. The only minor things were some bugs/dead spiders. However I’d absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Yosemite.

Perfect accommodations and conveniently located near Yosemite Valley. We ended up staying at Hilltop Cabins because our reservation at the Wawona Hotel was abruptly canceled for renovations. This was a blessing in disguise as the hotel was inconveniently located on south entrance road which would have required excessive driving to get to Yosemite Valley attractions. Hilltop cabins was a short scenic drive to the valley which was pleasurable not stressful. The cabin itself

The cabin is about a 20-30 minute drive from the Yosemite village center. The cabin is situated in a very secluded area of the park. it is a Lovely location. The cabin itself is quite small but perfect for 2 people. The furnishings need more care as they all appeared to be worn out a bit and could use some cleaning (sofa). The bathroom had fresh towels but the tub needed a cleaning. The dvd player in the living room was not functioning when we arrived. We contacted the owner who was extremely accommodating and very nice and apologetic about the bathroom and dvd player. We did manage to make the DVD player work. Overall, it's an ok place to stay for a short visit but needs some freshening up.

We had a great time at the Lupin Cabin. It may not be right in the middle at Yosemite village, but it was only a short and picturesque 20 min drive down the hill. On most days we drove down into the valley, hiked the morning, drove back for a break around lunchtime, and the back again for a shorter hike, and to catch the amazing late afternoon light on the mountains. The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. Our 13 yo daughter stayed upstairs. Foresta itself was lovely and quiet with the scent from the trees everywhere. It was a great escape from the rest of the tourists in the valley. Finally, Steve our host was perfect. Easy to contact, and always responded promptly. My husband & I chose this rental based on its location & amenities. We loved the location INSIDE the park. No car lines for us! The quiet residential area allowed us to retire early so we could get up at 3:30am and complete our hikes before the unusually hot temperatures could impact us. Returning to the cabin cooled by a swamp cooler made sleeping comfortable. The bed & pillows were super comfy. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to make all our meals in the cabin. We would eat our evening meals on the front deck with lizards, squirrels, and a variety of birds including a covey of quail entertaining us. Our drive to/from the residential area afforded encounters with a herd of 5 young bucks as well as 2 does. The cabin was well-maintained, well stocked and very clean. The owners kept in contact with us and we even got to meet Kathy in person.

Exactly as pictured in a peaceful environment & provided a needed escape from the populated valley to unwind at the end of a long day of hiking. Appreciated the CLEANLINESS & attention to detail. BBQ grill & well stocked kitchen were assets to cook our own meals. Cooling unit put out cold air & kept the cabin quite comfortable. The bed & pillows were quite comfortable. Sofa was huge & perfect for those midday naps. Plenty of storage for clothes & closet for suitcases. Appreciate the full length mirror in the bedroom. Great water pressure & temperature for a shower. Detailed instructions of how to work everything was handy. Our visit (Summer of July 2024) required a park reservation; however, since we had this reservation all we did was provide VRBO booking at the entry gate & we were good to go-no stress of getting a new reservation every 3 days! Steve was very sweet & informative about the area-be sure to make it out to Tenaya Lake on Tioga Road for a beach picnic. So beautiful! The road leading to the cabin is the original road of the park-so much history in the neighborhood so be sure to check out the barn, firehouse & signage around leading to the cabin. WiFi was not premium fast but enough to keep us connected to family. The cabin is a true gem & appreciate Steve’s hospitality & attentiveness. Even saw wildlife every morning: one morning a pregnant doe & two days later the same doe with her fawn! Could not have enjoyed our stay more! Thank you Steve!
