Great
Great location! The cabin is very dated. Basic supplies were limited. Half rolls of toilet paper and no extra garbage bags. If you plan on staying for more than a day, remember to bring your own.
Family friendly
The pool was never open even though it was the middle of summer. Restaurants in the area are closed in the early afternoons. A rat ate into our bread when it was sitting on the counter. Property management did respond and set some traps. A massive spider the size of a tennis ball ran into the vent on the floor so my kids were scared to sleep one night. Overall a good area for scenery, weather, and hiking though.
Great location close to FDR State Prk & Callaway Gardens. Lovely pool, fire pit, and pavilion on property. Cabin was clean-ish but dated. No dishwasher. Bathroom tub leaked. Very rustic but overall we enjoyed the weekend.
I was emailed after scheduling the stay with everything confirmed, that I would receive more information from the owner HOWEVER as of 7:45 pm the night of arrival- no other information had been sent. This other information included how to gain access to the property. I had to go online, contact VRBO, wait for the property management company to call me, ALL TO FIND OUT HOW I WAS GOING TO ACCESS THE CABIN. Then once I receive a call from the owner’s representative, I explained to the her that I was at the Medieval Times dinner show with my family and asked if she could just send me the information via text or email (I was missing the show and could barely hear her). Well, instead of making this a quick process- I miss half the show as she explains that even though I had a zero balance- she needed a credit card on file (this was the first I had heard of this) and when I asked if I could call, text, or email this information- she explained that she would be leaving the office at 8:00 pm (less than 15 minutes later). My first thought was, what would have happened if I never took the initiative to call at that time (and would have made the mistake and called a little later). My second thought and as I explained to her- I NEVER RECEIVED the additional information as promised from the owner including this request. The details of the check-in process were not given until I picked up my key later that night in an envelope (there was a pamphlet/letter enclosed), she took over 30 minutes to explain the process and how this would be left for me at the office door. This was most upsetting because I cannot understand where the logic was in the non-communication with a scheduled/ paid guest. Finally, as far as the cabin itself goes: it definitely could have been cleaner.. Dead roaches on the floor were just some of the issues. I will not be visiting nor recommending this resort to anyone.
The check in/check out process was easy. Better directions (more straight forward) would have been nice. We relied on Google Maps for directions and that was a mistake! The pool was nice and view was amazing. The cabin was comfortable, hot water and cold AC were fantastic. The upstairs bathtub would have been better with a shower addition and a lock on the door. Couple of additions in the kitchen would be helpful...corkscrew, more forks, pitcher, sharper and stronger knives. The light above the stove and the one on the kitchen ceiling fan were not working either. Overall though, it was a nice cabin and we enjoyed our stay.
