Stayed Jul 22, 2022This was a beautiful place to stay and had more parking than we expected. The only hiccups we had was that the check in code we were given was one digit off from what it actually was so we had a little trouble getting into the house. Also there is an outlet that was uncovered in the bedroom and we had a child touch it. Luckily the child wasn’t harmed but this should definitely be addressed if there’s any little ones staying on the property. The houses were very clean and the only reason I gave it a low rating was because of the outlet cover

Stayed Aug 31, 2019Pros: The property was available on short notice. Vacasa, the management company, is very fast to reply and thorough with all communication (more on this in Cons) Property was clean and organized, smelled nice and overall inviting. This is perfect for a two-family getaway, who desire separate spaces to relax, eat or sleep. Cons: No place for kids to run around and play. This was important for us because of our young family, so we ended up having a lot of on the edge oversite to make sure nobody went running into the street. The rocks behind the property are COVERED in poison ivy (typical for Coastal Maine, but perhaps get this controlled?) The condition of the property is a bit unkept. Some of the siding is rotted, the door sill thresholds wobble, there's a fair amount of mildew on the garage, the primary cottage kitchen sink faucet has a faulty sprayer. The mattresses are without a doubt the most firm mattresses I have ever slept on. Think camping firmness like when you sleep on an egg crate pad. Vacasa.... oh, what can I say. We had an issue with Vacasa during check in, where it flagged me as unverified and I was emailed to say that my reservation would be cancelled. This was cleared up quickly with a phone call, but it was a bother. Also of note, we are now getting emails from Vacasa (as a service provider that is in DIRECT competition with VRBO) to book directly through them. A little shady, seeking to undermine the site that gives you business and all.. WiFi is poor quality. Like another reviewer wrote, it keeps dropping signal, and can't sustain a connection to the secondary building. Yes, we only had ONE device connected, too. Perhaps an upgrade is in order? There's a few closed off areas of the buildings, I suspect it's a matter of safety, as they are balcony/loft areas, so this isn't so much a Con as it is an FYI. Overall, it was decent value. I probably won't be renting this location again because it certainly paled in comparison to other rentals we have had, where we found the value to be impressive. This was a last-minute trip, so we are thankful it was available, but the value in the stay itself was less than expected overall.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This home is great for a family with multiple kids or two families traveling together. The main house has a split bedroom plan with small kitchen and great living room perfect for two couples. The amazing deck connects the main house with the garage apartment. The garage apartment has two bedrooms, one downstairs with two double beds, then upstairs another kitchen and living room with a smaller bedroom with bunk beds - Perfect space for the kids! We had two families and three teenagers, it was the perfect fit. We enjoyed the dock nearby and the deck and grill! Perfect location, easy to ride bikes to town.

Stayed Jul 28, 2018The location is nice and convenient enough, but the accommodation is fairly rustic; there is a quite strong smell of mold (inevitable in this climate, I guess); and the kitchens are poorly equipped (we never did find a corkscrew...). Wi-fi (stemming from the house across the road) does not extend to the separate cottage with the garage--unless the wind is blowing in the right direction--and both it and the internet kept cutting out in the main cottage as well, which was hugely annoying: there seems to be a significant problem both with the relay signal and with the bandwidth. After three emails and a phone call, the (nice) property manager tried to help, but with not much success. The TV streams from the internet, it seems (so it hardly worked), but so far as we could tell it only had access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. (if you have your own subscription). The DVD player was a bonus, but we couldn't find the remote control that operates it. The road directly in front of the house (separating it from the bay) has some traffic (to the Linekin Bay resort), but not enough to be annoying save at check-in/-out times and a few late-night revelers returning from Boothbay Harbor. There seems to be a disconnect between the HomeAway website and the one mounted by Vacasa (which runs the rental): we never did get access to the property guide that one expects to find, with information on the house, the local area, etc., although we were told that one existed somewhere. The very large deck is pleasant. But the indoor space would be cramped at full occupancy for communal eating, movie-watching, or whatever. However, the two-cottage configuration will no doubt appeal to some and is probably be best feature of the property. Nothing here was truly awful (apart from the internet). But not much was great.

Stayed Jul 28, 2018A more detailed review has been placed on the www.homeaway.com site for this property. But in brief: a somewhat rustic property in a decent location; a poorly equipped kitchen; severe problems with wi-fi connectivity...
