Do yourself a favor and pick a different place. Heed all other reviews. I didn't read the reviews before I hastily booked due to last minute accomodation needs. While ithe rental has potential, this place shouldn't even be allowed on VRBO in its current condition. The owner completely denies the unhealthy and unclean conditions despite our correspondence (and all other reviews).
Perfect place to lay low. There are 5 beds upstairs so this place would be excellent if you have a ton of kids.
Quiet neighborhood, easy to get to Mt Rainier.
Miss communication with owner, but she was very rude to my elderly GMA for no reason she was snappy.
A quite Place!!
The cleanliness of the place was appalling, with blood-stained, unwashed sheets and towels that were clearly neglected. The white pillows were discolored with yellow stains, and the entire place emitted an unbearable odor. However, the most disturbing aspect was the presence of explicit sexual decorations that were completely inappropriate for children. I strongly advise against staying here if you value cleanliness, comfort, and a family-friendly environment.
Truthfully... It's time for NEW towels, pillows and beds. The cobb webbs on the rafters and some walls were just a small sign of a need for better cleaning. If someone has allergies....the dust is going to make your guests miserable. Ok! Bitter pill over. The cabin has great potential for a quality stay. It has great bones for a small family or two couples. The lawn space is large enough to keep the neighbors from your windows....nice! It's also in a quiet location close to town. The living room furniture is in quality condition and comfortable. The kitchen is well designed and easy to use. We spend most of our time outdoors seeing the sites. Thank you for your hospitality. This is our third or fourth visit
I will start with the good... because there isn't much-- Pros: - location is great - lots of parking - nice porch with chairs to relax - lots of beds to accommodate people - washer/dryer Now for the bad... and this is just the main things my group wanted me to highlight-- Cons: - kitchen was dirty including walls, utensils, drawers, etc. - stairs into house are loose and a safety hazard - stair railing going upstairs is also loose and a safety hazard - the periodic table of sex poster in the downstairs bedroom is inappropriate for a rental... along with several decor items throughout the house (if you have kiddos - DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE) - rugs on the main floor are ready to trip anyone and cause injury - there's a weird stale smell throughout the house - BBQ grill was extremely dirty - bathroom door has to be slammed shut to get to close all the way - outside doors to enter house are hollow doors used typically for bedrooms/closets - bed sheets and towels had stains - lack of communication/expectations when the fire broke out. The owner didn't answer any of my concerns or questions when I was trying to be proactive since I was hosting a group overnight. Instead, I received a response of, fires aren't anything new around here. Not all reports are accurate. I'm a PNW native and live in WA. I understand fires are normal. However, at the time, the east side of Packwood was on a level 3 evacuation (get out now) and we didn't know what was going to happen to Packwood. Also, after sending the current reports from the first service, I was still brushed off. I was NOT impressed at all. I stay in several rentals a year and this is one I will definitely not be going back to or recommending. My group was extremely thankful we only stayed one night. You're better off booking a hotel or a different house. The group I was hosting is from a community of 125K women hikers. I usually send out the link from each rental I book for events because ladies typically rebook for their families or other events. This rental will not be shared.
We had a beautiful weekend with stunning fall color at Mt. Rainer. Love the Packwood area. Brewery is excellent; worth the short trip into town if staying here.
We had a comfy stay. Just right for two people. This wonderful place would would work great for a honeymoon or anniversary trip
Very quiet setting and enjoyed the front porch every night! Loved having the fire pit and plenty of room to park. Beautiful views and surrounded trees. Comfortable couches!
Overall, good place with functional kitchen and BBQ, great after a long day. Its about 1 hour away from paradise. We came here in the middle of the night after a long day's hike. The place definitely gave off a haunted cabin vibe. The furniture inside is definitely grandma's attic old but the place was clean. There were dolls, kiss action figures, and posters throughout the house which definitely was creepy at night. The sex periodic table above the master suite topped it off.
What a cute a fun place to stay. The decor was fun to explore and it took us all back to our childhoods with the Kiss dolls, Bionic man, GI Joe's etc. The rock memorabilia was impressive as well. It was perfect for our stay and I would definitely return!
That place was really run down, smelled weird, dirty and had weird stuff all over. We almost just booked a hotel room
The location is pretty good. The view isn't anything special, but it is close to Mt. Rainer NP and the neighborhood is quiet. Like others have said, not really a place for young kids because of the toy decorations. And some of the artwork is definitely for adult eyes only. I would rate it as average because we felt it wasn't cleaned well, there were a number of things in disrepair, and the upstairs, where most of the beds were, was like a furnace. Most places in this area do not have air conditioners, so just know that if the temps outside are going to be high (80 +), this place is going to be like an oven inside. They really need an a/c unit up there in the hot months. If not that, an attic fan on the second level would work wonders. What we did like: It does have a washer and dryer, which was nice, and price per night is not that much higher than one of the motels in Packwood (at least in July). Plenty of room for us, lot's of beds, and everything we needed (dishes, towels, etc.). And the host was very responsive, which we also appreciate.
Nice
Fun, very eclectic décor (bigtime 70's Classic Rock Band kitsch). Quiet sleepy neighborhood, which is nice. It's a place to sleep and has the basic amenities. A bit spendy for what it is, but I guess everything there is. Owners seem like fun and nice people.
Although I had seen some negative feedback - We were very satisfied with our experience. This is not the Grand Hilton but it was a mountain cabin, close to town and able to accommodate our large group. The yard is LRG and had room for our RV. the teens played Frisby in the front yard, we had a big fire in the firepit at night and there were lots of beds for sleeping. We will definitely use rent this again in the future. If you are looking for the Hilton this is not your kind of place - but the price was great and owners were super easy to work with.
Accurate to the listing and a lovely weekend getaway!
