Luray, Virginia
Our beautiful A-frame cabin opens up to the Shenandoah River. Cabin is perfectly suited for couples or small families looking for the perfect mountain getaway with a view that can't be beat. Take in the sights from the rooftop deck, screened porch, or by the fire pit in this year-round riverfront retreat. Relax in the hot tub facing the river -
Our cabin is located on a beautiful bend on the Shenandoah river, complete with a picturesque view of the mountains in the background. There is much to explore outdoors, but the indoor space will keep you cozy when you want to kick your feet up.
The open concept floor plan allows for plenty of mingling and family time, but when it's time to turn down for the night, everyone will enjoy their own private areas.
The loft hideaway area is accessible by a ladder, which is perfect for small children to sneak away for their own movie time, but only under the supervision of an adult.
Prime location for canoeing, fishing, hiking & biking - the perfect escape to relax in the woods, on the water and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Shenandoah.
Some other things to note about The Perch:
- Early check-in or late check-out may be available, ask us!
-There is no trash service in this area. We ask that you please take your trash with you- there is information in the cabin on where to go to take it so that you don't have to take it all the way home with you!
Alternatively, housekeeping can remove it for you for a tip of $5 per bag.
- The Perch has a security camera located on the property, pointed toward the driveway.

Perfect sized house with adorable loft areas and rooftop porch. Nice fire pit and river access! Make sure the water is high enough before booking a stay that you plan on kayaking
Amidst all the noise of life, the cacophony we all live with, which for me includes cancer treatment and 3 deaths in the past 9 months, the hammock of The Perch was exactly what my soul needed. Upon arrival, we parked ourselves at the rivers' edge to watch the osprey hunt. You have your choice of seats. Although you really wouldn't have to leave the hammock, we did the Hazel Waterfall hike in Shenandoah in the morning, ate a a great southern cooking diner in New Hope (I think?) then came back to the hammock for the rest of the day. I wish everyone had the opportunity to visit this oasis in the desert times of life. Thank you so much. amy
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the perch. The location next to the river is great and the weather was wonderful. It’s only 30 min. from Shenandoah NP. However, the house is not as nice as it appears online. It’s old, with sulfur smelling water that turns everything yellow. In the fall, stink bugs swarm and baseball size fruit falls from 30 ft high all around. It’s a cute unique cabin though and we liked it, but I did feel it was overpriced for the condition it is in.
We had a great time at the cabin. We canoed and waded in the river (bring water shoes!). We went to Luray Caverns, had nice bbq at Triple Crown BBQ. We utilized the fire pit both nights of our stay. 5/5 would stay again
Cabin was super clean when we arrived. The river was absolutely beautiful and relaxing to sit and watch. We went to Luray Caverns which was an easy 20 min drive. As folks who enjoy learning about the Civil War, we took a 40 min drive to New Market Battlefield. I currently am fighting a serious illness so hiking wasnt on our itinerary but there are trails galore in the national park nearby. We spent 5 full days there including our wedding anniversary and because im sick, the stress kind of melted away as I didnt think much about chemo or anything while there. Im a fisherman as well and did manage to catch a bass from shore right at our cabin. Fishing was tough for me as im not used to fishing rivers and there was a pile of logs directly downstream from where i was casting. All good though. Im not complaining. If you want to fish i recommend waders. No cell service if that is important to you but the cabin had Wi-Fi. Personally i liked being disconnected. We loved it there and most likely will return.
The location was awesome. The house had many amenities, was comfortable and inviting. Sitting on the back deck watching the sunrise in the morning and having a glass of wine in the evening. Attractions are close and supermarkets are nearby.
Relaxing great getaway
Property definitely needs some work. The set up at the river is nice just old and not well maintained. We could have overlooked that but there was major road contraction right out side the property so we could not enjoy any quite time from early morning till 430 pm . Communication with property manager was very unprofessional and not understanding at all that we had paid to stay in nature and not a construction zone.
We loved our stay in The Perch! The property is right on the water so the view is lovely right off the screened in porch. We had cold weather and snow (!) during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the canoe or sit outside, but the view as still beautiful. The kitchen is a good size with items you would need to cook simple meals. Upstairs loft bed was comfortable and we loved the cute alcove over the screened in porch. Our stay here was very peaceful. Just what we wanted!
Adorable little place on the water. Perfect for giving my soul a rest from this crazy world.
My husband and I wanted a couple of days getaway, after the holidays. House was easy to find, it had enough for us to get by for a couple of days. Had a problem with the tv and we made a phone call and Jessica was so helpful. She came right over to help us out. She is a very nice and personable woman. We were very thankful for her. The phone service isn’t the greatest but we were in the woods. As far as the cleaning, we moved some things and you seen the dust. Paying for the house cleaning I’m sorry the people before me should have gotten their money back. This is not my first time renting homes. My family and I have been doing this for over 30 years so I’m very familiar with it. But, over all, the house was nice owners were awesome, as far as getting back to you promptly. I would stay again. Thanks for a nice quiet getaway weekend. ?
The cabin is right on the water with a gorgeous view and great canoeing opportunities. It’s a cute A-frame structure that is lovingly maintained. The only reasons I would give it a 4.5 instead of a 5 is that the appliances and bathroom are somewhat dated and the cabin is far from most of the local attractions.
We loved our stay at The Perch. It is in a wonderfully quiet and remote area! Being right on the awesome Shenandoah River made it easy to watch the beautiful sunsets. Spending time in Luray and at the Shenandoah River State Park are favorite activities of ours, and The Perch was an ideal place to come home to. We definitely hope to stay here again!
Very clean had more kitchen gadgets than expected. There's a Food lion grocery store near, no need to pack up everything just shop there. Plenty of fire wood. Couldn't find instructions for gas fire place in living room, bummer. Canoeing was a blast, had to clean up leaves in backyard, a blower before guests show up would be great. Wifi works perfectly. Overall, had a great time.
