Canyon, Texas
The Coyote is a small cabin, approximately 12’ x 12’ on the inside, with a covered front porch and an extended side deck with a view east towards Palo Duro Canyon.
Designed for just two guests, it offers more open space inside than our other tiny cabin, the Roadrunner. It is furnished with a queen bed, table and chairs, a bathroom with shower and toilet, a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, coffeemaker, and an outdoor area with gas grill (we provide the propane). There is a Roku TV. It has a window A/C unit and a panel wall heater.

Please note: This is one of multiple vacation rentals on our property. While there are other cabins on the property, each rental is separate with no shared spaces.
This cabin was so nice - not big but big enough for two people. It is surrounded by trees so shady/cool. And it overlooks the prairie of the Palo Duro Canyon. Also right next to our cabin (and fenced off) were several long-horn steers out grazing. So neat to see. Would definitely stay here again. The hosts were very communicative too.
The cabin was tiny and very comfortable. We felt secluded and still close to civilization. Nice getaway!
We enjoyed our stay in the coyote cabin. It was just enough space and had a lovely view of sunrise each morning. It is incredibly close to Palo Duro park and served as the perfect base camp for several long days of hiking. Would definitely recommend.
The Coyote TINY cabin was definitely TINY but perfect for us two who were gone all day to the parks. Cabin was clean and cozy. Had everything you needed with exception of hair dryer, at least I never found one, but that’s okay. So close to entrance of Palo Duro and next to Sad Monkey, perfect place to go afterwards for a drink or light bite.
Absolute best accommodations. Wanted a clean place to stay while visiting Palo Duro & was perfect. Just down the road from the HUMVE tours & small grocery store next door. PERFECT LOCATION!
The Coyote tiny house was very close to the Park and a short drive to Canyon where we found some excellent restaurants. It suited our needs and was very comfortable. We would recommend it to couples who want to be near the park.
Perfect cabin for my trip to Palo Duro Canyon!
It’s a nice cozy cabin.
Our visit coincided with the full moon and the views from the deck of this property were amazing. A great property with a great atmosphere.
Loved how close to Palo Duro Canyon this was. I was pleasantly surprised that the cabin was a part of a little village of cabins, rooms, and RVs. It was really neat. The cabin itself was clean and have everything we needed. It was so peaceful and quiet in the hang out spots outside. We were glad we didn't stay in a cabin inside the canyon, because we heard they are not as clean, and also you cannot leave after 10pm. We were able to drive to Canyon (the town) as needed. Great stay, super affordable, highly recommend! Look up Shepard Family Cabin Rentals to see all the options in the village.
Great for our couples get away. Really enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening. Highly recommend
Just the right size for a quick stay in this area. All that we needed for this trip. Location was also great.
Perfect for the two of us right outside Palo Duro
Amazing how much was crowded into this small cabin. We enjoyed our stay--especially seeing those enormous long horn cattle just outside our cabin.
Great little house! The property owners went well out of their way to ensure our stay was superb.
The cabins are well kept and extremely cute. We loved that each cabin has a backyard of its own. The location of the cabin is amazing for a quick run into either the canyon or town. We felt like we had our own private paradise despite the other cabins close by. The hosts were always quick to answer and flexible with our arrival time. We absolutely cannot wait to book again.
Great location, close to Palo Duro Canyon! A bit small BUT everything we needed. Enjoyed the morning coffee before a short jaunt to the canyon before any crowds, to ride all day, and a short drive back, to grill steaks. Private, as you like it. Host very friendly, personable. Will come again! Thank you!
I cannot say enough about how much I’ve enjoyed not only the tiny cabin I stayed in but also the area. This was the perfect layover for me going out to AZ, and again returning to IA. I couldn’t have asked for a more responsive and respectful host. I’m looking forward to the day I come back to explore more of the canyon and enjoy one of those tiny cabins again.
My husband and I needed a peaceful quiet place to stay after a very trying time. We wanted to be alone and soak in nature. This cabin is perfect for two! It has everything you need. Owners are super friendly and helpful. You get instructions to get in the cabin so easy check in. It is 1.5 miles from Palo Duro canyon! We heard coyotes howling, watched Longhorn cattle grazing, birds came right up to our deck and the sunrises! Oh my! There is a mercantile right down the road and we bought the freshest steak to grill. They have a cute lighted patio and even live music. It isn’t far from the city of Canyon or Amarillo. The owners even leave you snacks. So thoughtful. I mentioned to them that I was enjoying watching the birds since I am a bird watcher and she took the time to bring me a book on birds. There is a nice large deck in front and chairs so you can take in the sounds and the views. You won’t regret staying here but more for a couple, since it is a tiny cabin, but there are more cabins on the property. It was a much needed time to relax for us, and since you are so close to the Grand Canyon of Texas you can do some hiking, horseback riding, jeep touring, and even zip lining. It was perfect..
