Soda Springs, California
This is a three bedroom, two bath home that sleeps 8 in quiet Serene Lakes. Home faces the forest with big, sunny deck. Home is perfect for a ski or summer get away. Pet friendly as long as your pet is well behaved. Three miles to Sugar Bowl, one mile to Royal Gorge for cross country skiing, a half mile to swimming beach, 20 feet to x-country ski trail, hiking and biking trail. House is at the end of a cul de sac so great for kids. House is primarily heated by easy to use Vermont cast iron wood stove, so you have to like making fires! Wood provided. No central heat but electric baseboard heaters for backup. WiFi and Netflix but no live TV. Full kitchen. Living room faces forest via big windows and sliding glass doors. Good for one family or two. Bedrooms have 1 king, 1 queen, 1 set of bunks, a twin-sized futon in loft, bonus room in garage in summer. No window in bonus room, no heat. Do not let anyone play on snow banks under roof! Snow sloughs off!
We just came back from 5 nights at this cabin. It’s not fancy, but the location is perfect and the accommodations are comfortable. The woods are in your backyard, we had a blast sledding steps from the cabin. Plus an easy drive to ski resorts. It’s on a court so we felt very safe letting the kids play outside. Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay and plan to visit again!
As returning guests, we enjoy the location and the cozy, well-equipped cabin very much. It’s fabulous to be able to start a hike right out the door with our dog and also to take a short walk to the beautiful lakes.
We had a wonderful stay. Great cabin backing onto open space.
The house backs up to Royal Gorge on a cul de sac so it's very quiet. We made lasagna in the oven and fires in the wood stove. Everything worked nicely.
We stayed for an extended time at Julie's lovely cabin and really, really enjoyed ourselves. It was a perfect set up for a mix of adults and tweens. The wood fireplace kept us warm and cozy, and the beds were extremely comfortable. I think our favorite part of the cabin was the built in benches and big table - perfect for games, puzzles, family meals, and hanging out. And the access to Royal Gorge trails (you need a trail pass) literally right behind the cabin was fantastic too. Highly recommend - we hope to return!
We have rented this house three times and always enjoy it. If you are a gourmet cook and rely on certain kitchen implements, bring what you require. But other than that, kitchen is well-provisioned and house was very comfortable for family of 5.
Stayed here for a weekend with friends. The location was perfect for XC skiing and snowshoeing, which was our reason to be there. Couldn’t ask for better. The space is larger than expected and the kitchen was fully stocked. Located on a quiet cul de sac. Super bonus that it’s a dog friendly house and that we were able to bring. Would definitely stay here again! Ps. if you plan to ski with your dog at royal gorge check their dog policy. They changed it for 2022-2023 which was super disappointing.
Aside from difficulties with check in instructions we had a great time. Location is further from groceries and the actual lakes than one might think, but excellent for dog walks and hiking. Cabin is lovely, simple and comfortable.
Had a great time playing in the snow. What a wonderful place.
House was great and Julie was easy to communicate with! Thank you!
