Great for a larger family or a trip with multiple families as there is an upstairs play room for the kids. Only 5-10 minute drive from Tahoe Donner Ski Report and 10 minutes to downtown Trukee.

Vicki's property is perfect for a large family reunion or 2-3 families. It comfortably accommodated our 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids), with space for more on sofa foldouts. The cabin has an updated kitchen with a huge island/bar and is incredibly well stocked with everything you could possibly need including crockpots, basic supplies, etc. The master bath has a jacuzzi tub which the kids enjoyed one night, and there is a second shower upstairs. The huge recreation room is a great place for the kids to play and hang out! We enjoyed snowball fights and lots of play in the huge driveway. Vicki was an amazing host, checking in frequently even while on holiday in Mexico, and making sure we had everything we needed. There was a huge storm before we left home to drive up and she checked in and offered to change our dates by one day on each side if we had to go a day later because of the road conditions. Warm, friendly, considerate, and overall a lovely person! She also spends time at the cabin with her grandkids so the house is truly kid-friendly, not the sort of place where you constantly have to say, Don't touch this or Be careful of that. It has exactly the right balance of being clean, well cared for and comfortable but not so pristine that you're stepping on eggshells when your kids run around. A couple of things to note: hot water does run out after 3 showers or so, even quick ones, so if you are a large group, you'll have to stagger showers and wait about an hour after 2-3 folks have had showers. This wasn't a problem once we knew we had to do so and it's also something I've experienced in other Tahoe cabins. Secondly, as noted in the description, the upstairs gets cold but there are space heaters provided and it didn't affect our enjoyment of the place. I would definitely return! This is a great holiday rental!

We spent 3 nights in the home with 7 people and had a wonderful stay. The house is spacious, well kept and very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and basics like cooking oil and spices. The living room was comfy and lots of options were available on the television. The upstairs rec room was fun and provided space for the group to spread out for different activities in the evening. Vicki was prompt and clear in all her communications and made sure everything was okay during our stay. Best of all though was as we were leaving at the end of our stay, a winter storm rolled in that closed the 80 out of Truckee. Vicki called us to make sure we knew and proactively made her home available to us past our reserved time so that we had a warm and safe place to wait out the storm. What a wonderful person she is. We look forward to coming back to stay again!

This is a truly home away from home kind of place. The cabin is welcoming and you feel the owners care for it. The Beds were comfortable, cabin was clean, the kitchen is so well equipped! Our Thanksgiving turkey came out just perfect. Vicki was in touch with us prior to arriving and during our stay making sure we have everything we need. Great location to spend time with family.

I would like to recommend this cabin. Vicky is very nice, gave us all the information about the house and Truckee. The house is just like the pictures, very spacious and comfortable .... warm and the beds very comfortable as well! We loved it and would go back again!

Vicki's house is a true gem in Tahoe - the level of care and thoughtfulness in the house is visible everywhere, from her communication before we arrived to all of the small details (like extra blankets in each of the bedrooms) throughout the house. 8 friends stayed in the house over Thanksgiving, and the table was perfectly sized for us all to share a big communal meal. The photographs of the kitchen looked great, but in person it's even better - they have every single kitchen utensil you could need, and a fantastic gas stove. And the massive granite countertop really pulls the whole thing together. We were able to have 4 people cook at the same time without crowding one another. The only 'downside' to the house we found is that heat doesn't spread evenly - the downstairs kitchen/living room was usually really warm, while the upstairs bedrooms were cooler. Vicki thoughtfully provides space heaters to help with this. The upstairs 'game room' is a great contrast to the downstairs living room - we were able to retreat up there after meals to enjoy a different setting and take advantage of the many games and puzzles. The card table was a particular hit for our group, as was the bar. For activities, we went on a 'tunnel hike' through an old railroad tunnel up near the donner pass. It was a bit difficult to get to the start of the tunnel in the snow, but the views of the lake + graffiti + history of that railroad were interesting enough to make that absolutely worth it. There are also lots of trails for walking or xc skiing within just a few minutes drive. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to any friends interested in staying in Donner.

My family and I had great time at this spacious cabin. We stayed the weekend with my brother's family, so there was a total of 10 of us. There was so much space, our kids could hang out in one part of the house (teenagers!!), while the adults hung out in another. The bar/game room was awesome, we played cards at the poker table. The cabin is far enough from Donner Lake that we were able to avoid the crowds, yet still be lake front in 5 minutes. I'm definitely recommending this cabin to family, and friends visiting the area.

We had a wonderful time at this spacious Tahoe retreat. The house was fully stocked with everything- plenty of pots & pans, spices, games, sleds. The game room was lots of fun with a poker table, Wii and several pull-out couches. Very convenient location and great layout. Would highly recommend to others. We are a family of 5, but it could easily accommodate 2 families.
