Welcome to Elk Knob Cabin!
Elk Knob Cabin is a secluded retreat located in a wonderfully scenic setting. Despite its remote location, it is only 15 minutes away from Boone. Located at the end of a mile-long drive up through private, wooded acreage, the cabin rests at an elevation of 4,200 feet, making it a great fit for those who appreciate serene mountain surroundings, privacy, and time away from a fast-paced life.
The home is equipped with fundamental amenities like HDTVs and a hot tub but truly focuses on removing oneself from a technological setting and enjoying the view and serenity of the location.
Just a few minutes away is Elk Knob State Park, featuring one of the park system's finest trails to the spectacular views from the 5,520 feet summit. Tweetsie Railroad, ski slopes, Grandfather Mountain, High Gravity Adventures, river rafting, and many other attractions are available to visit during your stay.
Property Access
- This home is accessed by a long and steep gravel driveway. We strongly recommend 4WD and vehicles with high clearance in ALL SEASONS. In Winter, 4-wheel drive with tire chains is necessary for safe access.
Must be at least 25 years of age to book.
Cabin had everything we needed! If you like a secluded place to get away from it all, this is it!
Needs more detailed cleaning (i.e. under couches, window sills). Great view. The driveway was definitely a challenge but well worth the hassle.
Beautiful home. Very secluded with amazing view. Would highly recommend.
This is one property where the pictures actually represent the house. Great cabin, bedrooms had lots of space. Bathrooms were great. Super cozy. All around perfect spot for a mountain getaway.
This property was beautiful. The view was breathtaking. Plenty of space for a party of six people. My wife and I had more than enough space for just the two of us. It was a little over a mile up a very steep incline, so just be prepared for that.
This property is beautiful with stunning views. The cabin was very clean and well appointed. For those visiting App State kids in Boone, be warned that it is a dark stressful drive back to this place! It’s more like 25 minutes to Boone. WiFi was intermittent. Overall a nice place but not if traveling back and forth to Boone… I had to meet my son at the bottom of the mountain as it would’ve torn his BMW apart!
This cabin is well appointed and well kept. It is close to Boone and other areas, while feeling that you are extremely rural. The hot tub was a great perk, with scenic views of beautiful sunset from the hot tub and fire pit area. The view is breathtaking. You are pretty isolated, and there are deer (and BEARS) in the area. The driveway is DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE. I cannot stress this enough. As a Floridian, we do not drive on mountains, but reading the guest book, this appears to be a common issue. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE recommended (although our trusty Tahoe did make it up and down multiple times). We came in the summer... I CANNOT IMAGINE how difficult that drive would be to navigate in the winter. Overall , this was one of my family's best vacations in years, I highly recommend if you are brave enough to venture on the one mile long uphill driveway.
The view was wonderful. Need to clean the front porch, gives a bad first impression to a wonderful cabin. Plenty of kitchen amenities for cooking. Driveway a bit steep, but no issues. Enjoy f our visit.
This property was just as pictured. The kitchen was very well stocked. The hot tub was perfect and the view was wonderful. The driveway was long and on an incline. We had no issues getting up and down but wouldn’t recommend driving up in winter weather. We also enjoyed the fire pit and grill every night. Great property!
The code they gave us did not work. I called they were very helpful and we got right in. View is absolutely beautiful!
