This property was perfect for our vacation. Other reviews mention the busy highway. This house is very soundproof and the main road near the cabin is really not that busy. The property was very clean and stocked with anything you might need inside. We had a snow storm during our stay which is what we were wishing would happen for the kids and the layout of the property is perfect for sledding and building snowmen. If you are traveling from anywhere with low elevation, I highly recommend getting oxygen boost before you arrive. The cabin is just shy of 9,000' in elevation and coming from FL, it was in fact difficult to breath just moving our luggage around or walking up the steps. If we ever plan a trip back to the area, I will definitely be trying to book this property again.
We enjoyed a stay with our young granddaughter at this property. She loved exploring the woods complete with paths and a swing set on the large lot. The large kitchen and on deck BBQ made for some tasty meals. Star gazing on the deck was fabulous! Saw the Milky Way and a shooting star! Being able to park in the garage was nice. Having bedrooms on separate floors was problematic with a young one. Being grandparents, the first floor bedroom was more convenient for our not so young knees but made sleeping arrangements tough for our granddaughter. Having a couch on the main floor would have been helpful. Other than that it was a wonderful stay. Highly recommend the Hidee Mine tour with Mr. Jim as well!
What a fun weekend! Two couples - one from Florida and one from Mississippi - met up for a long weekend of visiting. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we rode, we cheered, we ate some more, we drank some more, and had t The. best. Time. The cabin felt like we were visiting old friends who just happened not to be there. So homie, well stocked, comfortable, and beautiful. Definite five stars!
Cute and cozy two story cabin in a quiet area of the mountains. I will be coming back! Thank You!
We ended our 10 day Colorado trip with our last 3 nights here. We had a wonderful time. The area is beautiful and the cabin was perfect. The host has some very beautiful extra touches, like the paths through the yard and down to the fire table. We enjoyed using the outdoors very much and even played horseshoes. One note - if you are used to sleeping with a fan, bring one. The house is very quiet and there is only a ceiling fan in the living room. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Absolutely beautiful! The cabin was beautiful and had some pretty amazing sites!
My wife and I recently stayed here for 4 nights, and we were both very satisfied with the cabin. You can tell a lot of time and money were put into it. Even down to the little decorative details, we couldn't think of a single thing we would change. We didn't need to contact Evolve or any of the other help even once. Everything was in perfect working order. Very clean and tidy. There are a couple of things to note though that aren't specific to the cabin itself. It is located on a lot that is right up against a fairly busy highway. When you are inside, you cannot hear the traffic, but being outside during the day, it is definitely noticeable. It wasn't a huge deal for us, but it definitely takes away from the secluded cabin in the mountains feel when you are outdoors. Another thing to note. If you are staying here, do yourself a favor and make sure you arrive during the day. We made the mistake of staying out at Red Rock for the day and coming here at night, and the drive through the mountains in pitch darkness was terrifying. So many winding roads and couldn't see 10ft in front of us and it even started hailing at one point (in May). During the day though, the driving wasn't as bad, but still a lot of twist and turns and steep grades. Rent yourself a vehicle with 4WD for sure. In Blackhawk itself, there isn't much to do besides outdoorsy things like hiking or going to the casino in town. We originally planned on maybe going to Boulder on a day trip, or down to a hot spring, but honestly, getting up and down out of the mountain was daunting enough to keep us in Blackhawk and the immediate surrounding area. All in all, this is a fantastic cabin that is in immaculate condition. The only gripes we had were more with the location and proximity/accessibility to other things/places we wanted to do. This was more than enough cabin for the two of us, but would be perfect for two couples or a family getaway.
