Caroga Lake, New York
This is a Seasonal CAMP, Rental comes with use of 4 kayaks and 2 paddle boats, nice water front area for swimming There is a picnic table and fire pit by the lake. Dogs have to be kept on a leash, as there is a leash law here. Close to the Nick Stoner Golf course. Hike near by Kane Mountain, only a short drive to Johnstown, Gloversville, or Saratoga. You can rent a boat from the Canada Lake Store & Marina.. Great place for families up to 6 people. Not open during the winter months.
It was a great experience and id definitely reccomend the place if in the area.
We had a great 3 night stay in this camp/cabin as a family of 5 with three young kids. Loved the location - directly on the lake with great included amenities and a nice view from enclosed porch area. We used the rowboat to row to stoner island and enjoyed using the kayaks and paddleboats. The fire pit was great for fires and s’mores. We hiked both Kane mountain and nine corner lake trails- both within ten minutes of house. David went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed including dry firewood and supplies and house is well stocked including some snacks and cooking supplies. House is a little bit musty and damp. This was only a downside because it was difficult to dry our towels and wet clothes (wish we packed more for the kids who loved to jump in the lake multiple times a day! ) but there is a clothes line outside for hanging items if it isn’t raining. Thanks for allowing us to stay here!
A well loved family camp in the Adirondacks! David, the host was one of the most helpful and friendly hosts I have ever dealt with - explaining the cabin and the area and checking in on us via text during our stay. The cabin is cozy and comfortable! My son and grandson loved the paddleboats and I loved the kayak on the beautiful lake. It rained a LOT during our stay, but we were comfortable, warm and dry and loved reading and playing games on the enclosed porch overlooking the water. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are steep and might be a consideration for a young family (there is a large bedroom on the main floor as well), but the cabin was perfect for our needs - adults and 9 year old. Very quiet area, peaceful and nice road for walking our dogs and seeing all the other lake properties. Thank you!
Everything was great. No complaints. Very accommodating and relaxing getaway. Kayaked, had a fire, grilled, and had a nice time overall.
Great communication with owner even when we locked ourselves out of the cabin?. Across from the lake with beautiful views a nice weekend away.
My wife and I stayed here and the camp met our expectations. We wanted a camp on a lake to rest our bodies, reasonably priced, close to hiking, and close to other amenities. When you are here hike Kane Mountain, go to the Canada lake store & marina, eat at Nick Stoners or Vroomans all within 5 miles from camp.
Loved the history of the camp. Absolutely beautiful area. My husband got to back to his old stomping grounds for his 80th birthday. Highly recommend!
David's camp was very clean and organized and he was a great host. He left our family crackers and cheese as a welcome gift and all the fixins for 'smores for the kids. He Facetimed with me for a quick tutorial on the electric heater (we arrived when it was cool and rainy) and extremely helpful with 'things to do'. Things to note: there is a dirt road between the camp and the lake. There's only a few houses beyond David's and we probably saw 10 cars our entire stay but it's worth mentioning for kids/pets. Kayaks were great and even took the paddle boat (not paddle boards sadly) out for a spin. The water in the house is technically potable but David suggested buying water (and left one jug for us). We took several thermoses of water and our Britta picture for drinking water and additionally made the short drive to an artesian well (the kids couldn't believe how delicious and cold the water was coming out of the ground). Google maps location FOR THE WELL: 965 N Bush Rd, Johnstown, NY 12095. I've been coming to the 'dacks for years and we've always drank from this natural spring (you may be waiting in line a bit since folks fill up water jugs from there all the time). Wish list: details on recycling, wine bottle opener (perhaps there was one but I couldn't find it), brighter LED light bulbs. If you're there awhile a 2 hour trip to Woodstock, Opus 40, Overlook Mountain hike (read reviews online first to see if this is for you) was worth the trip. Would also suggest hiking Kane Mt
Rained the whole time! That's ok. We visited with friends and family. Very quiet and peaceful. Lakeview right across the street was beautiful. Very pet friendly.
Amazing host, very clean and comfortable house, beautiful lake, nice and relaxing stay
We were looking for a rustic cabin with lake access. This property worked out to be a perfect fit for us. Two adults and three children ranging from 6 to 12. The cabin was spacious and very clean! Had all the comforts of home that we wanted yet rustic at the same time. The lake access was great because it was shallow for the kids to get in and out of with no problem. We all loved the kayaks! Such a great experience for us all. We also took the rowboat out, as a family, to a tiny Island not too far away. My husband truly did get a workout but it was lots of fun! If we ever come back to Canada lake, this would be our spot! Thanks David for being such a great host and answering all of my questions! The smores for the kids and snacks for the adults was a great touch. We really appreciate them!
Great time. It was great to be able to use the kayaks and paddle boats.
We had a great extended weekend at the lake! Everything is exactly as described in the listing, and the host is fantastic! The booking process was easy, as was check-in, and the host was extremely helpful, checked in during our stay, and quickly responded to any questions that we had. The camp is a charming lakefront property, complete with everything that you need.. We really loved the expansive sunroom which overlooks Canada Lake, use of the gas grill, and the provided kayaks and paddle boats! We highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a lakefront getaway!
Wonderful location on Canada Lake. Nothing blocking access to the lake or the view of the lake. Nice amount of shoreline. Very comfortable. A 'family camp' in all the best sense. Often camps around the lake are very close together...this one has lots of space around it. You don't feel crowded at all. Already planning to stay there again next year. Host is very nice and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. Kayaks available for use. Upgraded bathroom and kitchen appliances. Comfortable beds. Very nice 'sunroom' overlooking the lake. Picnic table and seating at lakeside. And the loons seem to like to hang around that area of the lake! You should turn your devices off and go outside...but wifi worked great.
We had a wonderful weekend! Host was extremely helpful and easy to get ahold of. The cabin was perfect for a lake getaway. And the lake was just perfect. We could have swam and hung out in the lake all day!
This is our second time staying at this camp and had a great time again. The grill was in great working order and we cooked most of our meals on the grill and ate down at the picnic table by the water. Even though it was a bit too cold for extending swimming (50s and 60s) the kids had a blast. The camp is a good size and we were comfortable with two adults, two kids, and two grandparents.
