Scenic View Retreat is a two bedroom brick cabin located at the edge of the Hocking Hills, with a beautiful fishing pond just outside your door.
This cabin offers all the comforts of home with satellite TV and a reclining leather sofa where you can relax in front of the wood burning fire place. If nature is what you crave this cabin is in the middle of nowhere, no wi-fi or cell service to interrupt nature. You can relax in the hot tub with a view of the pond or have a picnic lunch around the fire pit. There are also trails through the woods where you can take a nature hike. Close to many area attractions we're sure you will find everything you need to enjoy a tranquil, relaxing vacation in the beautiful Hocking Hills ( There’s no Wi-Fi and very Limited cell service.)
The first night there we had to call the office about the fireplace. The description said it had a wood burning fireplace but there were no tools for it and it was heaped with old ashes. After an hour a guy showed up with a dust pan and garbage bag and cleaned it out. He told us he would rather people not use the fireplace and if the wood we brought isn’t at least 4 years old we can’t burn it. I again asked about the tools for it and he said you might find them outside after the snow melts. They weren’t outside either. Day 2 my husband and I decided to try the hot tub. Again we had to call because the jets weren’t working properly. I was told to go up the hill to the other cabin and talk to another person. She did come down and she turned on some of the other jets however only about half the jets worked properly. So my husband and I get in the hot tub and after about 5 minutes we noticed a sludge coming up and the smell was horrible. Of course we got right out and got showered and never went back in. Also be careful in the bathroom it is a very small space. The only good thing we found was they did have a decent DVD collection. All in all the cabin was a disappointment for the money I spent.
This property was very clean! It was an excellent getaway as there is no WiFi or cell reception. They had a nice collection of dvd’s and satellite tv. The only thing I didn’t like was the lighting inside. It was dark.
Everything was great
The cabin is a little dated and could use some repairs. It was fine as we suspected it from the pictures. The bad: satellite tv was out a lot of the time because it rained most of the time we were there. Not unexpected. There is a small hole in one window to the big bedroom. Almost looks like a bb hit it. We had problems with 1 of the storm doors staying closed. I tightened up the handle and it was fine after that. The lighting is very poor. Some brighter bulbs would be great. The good: the beds are pretty comfortable. The whole place was spotless and there were no odors at all. The view is amazing! The hot tub is great but the cover has seen better days. If you need a cell signal, forget it. I had one (att) in certain places in the yard but only for a minute or 2. If darkness and being in the wilderness scares you, dont go. But we are planning our next visit and hopefully in better weather. If we could have stayed longer, we would have. Highly recommended!
Negative: beds are bad, lighting is crazy bad - dark
It's a hidden gem. If u r scared of country don't go but to me it was just short of paradise
I had a nice stay. We must have caught 100 bluegill in 4 days.
I took my son and his friends there for a fishing weekend they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Enjoyed very much our family will be back ?
We enjoyed a moms weekend away in the quiet cabin with nearby hiking in Hocking Hills.
My daughter and I stayed there. It was a very nice weekend for us. The place is beautiful and has everything we need. I will be taking my boyfriend there to enjoy fishing in the lake.
Very clean, easy check in process, hot tub was wonderful after hiking all day. Had a fabulous little get away.
This is a VERY nice very SECLUDED place. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
An extremely beautiful place. We loved the quaintness and unpretentious atmosphere of the place. A perfect place to get away, unwind, and unplug. It was very clean and well run.
Everything went smoothly. Very clean and secluded. Would consider staying again in the future.
My family and i enjoyed this vacation so much we was sad that we had to leave. It was like home away from home. Very secluded. It was nice not to have service on our cell phone and really got to spend alot of family time together. We will definitely be renting this cabin again in the near future. This place is all that we talk about.
Very nice secluded cabin. Was what we were looking for. We were amazed at how there were no bugs even though we sat by the fire close to the pond both nights. Very close to hocking hills. Would recommend. Thanks for sharing
Great location and very clean. It was close enough to hocking hills for us to go to cedar falls and the train ride in Nelsonville. Would stay here again highly recommend.
Stayed 2 days and it was perfect to disconnect from everything but nature .
An amazing, wooded secluded brick cabin! We loved walking out the front door right to the pond. We caught tons of sunfish and bluegill, all sizes! The fire pit was perfect with the swing cooking grate. The property inside and out is clean and has everything you need. The bathroom was perfect and water pressure/cleanliness was great! We can't wait to come back!
All good. Would stay again
What a wonderful place to stay. Close to Hocking Hills attractions. The hot tub was great after a long day of hiking! We loved sitting next to the pond in the evenings and watching all of the turtles.
So peaceful will definitely stay again
