Running Bears Den- Chalet Village’s Perfect Retreat in the Mountains

Beautiful home,

My family booked this cabin for a 4-day Thanksgiving stay. Three of the six guests had never been to Gatlinburg, and after comparing several options, we chose this cabin because of its size and location. The host did offer a 200 discount, and the cabin itself is beautiful and very spacious. There is not much of a view other than looking down at surrounding properties. Also, future guests should note that an AWD vehicle is needed to get up the driveway. On Saturday we took an Uber to town. When leaving, my nephew accidentally left the bottom-floor door ajar. That was our mistake. When we returned around 10:30 PM, we found the truck door open (no food inside) and the cabin door was open. Naturally, we were concerned. It took four attempts to reach the host, and when we finally did, she said she thought a bear opened the truck door and stuck its head inside the cabin. For our own peace of mind we requested a picture or video from the security cameras. She questioned why we needed it. She sent us video of my nephew leaving the cabin door ajar, but refused to send any proof of the bear. Throughout this situation, the host was not helpful in giving us any peace of mind about whether this was wildlife or a possible attempted robbery. With food on all three floors and nothing disturbed inside, and considering the truck was parked on an incline, we are still unsure what actually occurred.The cabin itself is nice, but our experience dealing with the host during a concerning situation.

Great family friendly home

Everything was wonderful. Close to gatlinburg and the park. Quiet location. Plenty of room for our family if 6. We love the pool table and basement entertainment area. There are a couple little stores near by for pizza and if you forgot anything. Host was very responsive with any questions we had. Highly recommend.

Cabin was beautiful and nestled amoungst the trees upon the mountainside. The cabin is centrally located to Ober and Downtown Gatlinburg. The rooms were comfortable as well as spacious and the large kitchen was used for all of our meals for 4 and half days. The laundrey room was a plus. The addition to 3 local pools was nice for the kids. We had read where a few past renters had seen bears and was hoping to see at least one. We actually saw 8 on the property. We made sure to keep our vehicle doors locked and free from food ,as we had a bear attempt entry into my vehicle twice. One time we actually saw it and the second must have been through the night. Lock ypur doors and that of the cabin doors...The adults and kids really liked the game room pool table and arcade. This will be#1 on our list for any future vacations to Gatlinburg. Highly recommend. There was only one small CON to the property .Upon arriving to the beautiful cabin we did have a bit of a tight squeeze with parking with one 1 minivan, 1 Ford Escape & 1 Buick Enclave. Just note the last vehicle to drive up the uphill drive way, will be the first one to back out of the downhill drive. Note we were here from the 29th of June to July 5th. So it is clear that we left and returned back to the cabin multiple times without incident, we just planned who was parking first in case they had plans . The cabin is large, with a nice kitchen and several spaces around it to enjoy time with family and friends. The host was responsive and good to work with. My only complaint is that the cleanliness could be better, and there are a few areas in the lower-level bathroom that could use some TLC. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We had an amazing time while staying at the house. The rooms were all very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the game room playing pool and the video games. My girls loved the hot tub. The house was perfect. Our host had it all decorated for Christmas. It was so beautiful. I highly recommend this poroperty.

NAME OF CABIN SAYS IT ALL....WE HAD A BLAST AT THIS CABIN AND THE HOST WAS VERY RESPONSIVE. OVERALL AN AWESOME PLACE TO STAY. WE HAD BEARS EVERY SINGLE DAY. LOCK YOUR CARS AND HOUSE DOORS!!!! THE DRIVEWAY IS STEEP BUT MANAGABLE. BEARS BEARS BEARS EVERYWHERE. THE CABIN WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND WE HAD A LOT OF FUN IN THE GAME ROOM.

Carrie was responsive to calls and texts, however I did have to ask the day we arrived what the passcode for the door was as it was not given prior and we were locked out of the house two days prior to the date we were to check out. House was lovely, however cleaning crew could do a better job on toilets and floors.

Pictures do not do this cabin justice. Its perfect down to every last detail. Great location and close to all the fun activities. We will definately be booking again for our next trip to TN!!!
