Lake Lure, North Carolina
Wish the owners would provide a short summary (book) for notes and local information. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay. Spent Thanksgiving with family here (4 nights). Very relaxing and clean.
Very enjoyable.
Once we found the house and were able to get inside, we wanted to get unpacked and go check out all of the amenities. It was a bit frustrating not being able to find where they were located. A map from the house or at least directions from the house to the clubhouse/pool would have been helpful. After texting I was able to get directions. The first night we had some unexpected guests. Momma bear and 3 cubs were very interested in the trashcan chained to the tree. Not really sure why the trashcan is there honestly. It was neat to see the babies playing around while mom was getting frustrated trying to get in the can. We enjoyed the pool and the property. Would recommend to others.
Enjoyed our time. Would stay again with a few minor tweaks!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the home. Thanks so much for the great hospitality. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
We stayed at Rumbling Retreat for Spring Break and loved it! The only inconvenience we had was no water for a few days due to a water main break. The Property management company took care of us by providing drinking water and gallon jugs for flushing. Luckily, we were able to utilize the spa/gym facilities for more than working out. I even met the neighbor beside me by chance at the gym due to the water issue. The home is in a great location. A quick drive to Chimney Rock. My boys enjoyed playing golf at Rumbling Bald, Zip lining and fly Fishing. We did enjoy nice family time sitting around the fire pit and making s’mores. I would definitely look to staying here again!
Overall a very nice place for a getaway. Very quiet location, charming cabin. Only a few recommendations for improvement: glassware seems unclean and dishwasher doesn’t do the job, gas fireplace didn’t work - pilot went out, was able to relight once, but couldn’t get it back on for most of the stay, and couldn’t lock the front sliding door upon departure - from outside or inside (called, emailed and texted management company on this but never got a response). Kind of creepy having cameras record you every time you step outside or approach the front door, but I guess there’s an issue with security and trusting the guests. We do appreciate the owner making an exception and allowing us to bring our two small dogs. They really enjoyed the stay.
I struggle with articulating our experience. Yes, the home is stunning. Grounds were beautiful. Cozy yet immense. Spacious. All what should be the perfect makings for an amazing stay which is why I struggle with the fact it wasn’t. To put it plainly, it was evident that the owner is not familiar nor comfortable with renting. Having stayed in countless rental properties both in the US & abroad, as well as being a rental owner myself, this stay lacks the characteristics of hospitality or a general standard of expectations for renters. To explain my reasoning further: I received at least 12 LENGTHY emails from initial booking to departure- the lists of rules, requirements, needed documentation & information, was overwhelming to put nicely. The arduousness didn’t stop. The owners have physical cameras at the front of the properly and actively watch you as you come and go; as a rental owner myself, I understand the desire to protect your property, but I’ve never experienced this in any rental & found it a bit unnerving. The property management company showed up unannounced to drop off passes for the resort, which would have been nice/fine if not for the fact that we were already aware we were monitored. Felt like double duty. Home is peppered with reprimanding notes (and monetary fine threats)- “don’t use makeup on the towels or you will be fined”, demands about what color trash bags to use, the exact way towels should be folded / placed on shelves, etc; it was out of touch. Renting a home only on rigid terms is just not really how hospitality works when you rent a property daily- sorry to say it! I think this home would be best suited for a passive couple or 2- by no means a moderately sized family, which is a shame considering there are 4 beds + baths in the mere 2500 square feet of living space which can home one very comfortably. They threaten to evict you/ keep your payment if there are more than 8 people on the property; again a shame considering the size/splendor of the home. Why have a fire pit, pool table, and game room if you don’t want a family to maximize the amenities? It all just felt like a contradiction. Pains me to say. I’m sure owners will see this & disagree as it is their property / right, however, the overall experience was sadly not inclusive or relaxing due to the overbearing, omnipresence. Hopefully they will learn to relax & that not all renters are out to overtly disrespect or ruin their homes!
This home was perfect for 3 couples. We spent 3 nights here for our nieces wedding. The home was super clean with plenty of room and the beds were comfortable. Each bedroom having it’s own bathroom made all of us getting ready at the same time a breeze. Would definitely recommend especially since we were able to bring our small dog with us,
Excellent value. Home was well equipped. Quality of furniture was wonderful.
