Georgetown, Texas
Join the evolution in vacation stays! Looking for the perfect romantic getaway cabin Look no further - our setting will capture your attention and inspire you.
Cozy up in front of the fireplace, or enjoy the great outdoor fire pit/dining area, or take a nap together in the hammock.
We have many guests at Scurlock Farms from the larger cities and are told they truly enjoy the peace and quiet in our country setting while visiting the area.
Others are thinking of buying property and moving to the country and wanted to "test drive" staying in a rural setting.
The "Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas" with its many shops and dining opportunities is only 10 minutes away.
Some choose to stay on the farm and enjoy the activities here, while others tour the wineries in the area, try out a different restaurant each evening (several farm-to-table), enjoy the live music available almost every night in Georgetown, go into Austin or shop the outlet malls in Round Rock. You get the idea...each one can have a unique experience.
Simply watch the horses, cows and goats as they graze in the pastures, watch and listen to the bird activity from the beautiful outdoor seating area with beautiful Texas Hill Country terrain, or stroll down to the river bottom and hike along the river.
Want to fish or learn how to fish, but don't want to bring all the equipment No problem! Just let me know and I will give you our local fishing guide, John's, contact information. John will come to the farm and bring the bait and all the equipment, then give you a lesson!
Or, if you are more adventurous, help us feed and hold the baby goats - two more born today, feed apples to Ginger and Duster, our two horses; help gather eggs in the evenings from our free-range chickens; "drive" a tractor; pick something for dinner from the in-season garden; or if your little ones have a green thumb, they can help plant in the spring or fall; have a bonfire down on the wide river banks; or gather your own pecans from the 20 acre orchard in November.
Let me know if you would like a tour in a Polaris. I can show you around the farm, the river, hiking areas, and the animals.
Deep in the heart of Texas in the Texas Hill Country, this was the art studio of well known Texas landscape artist, C. P. Montague, one of President Lyndon B. Johnson's favorites. It was designed around centuries-old live oak trees. It is constructed of river rock picked up at the river on the property. Beautifully and comfortably furnished. New queen bed and quality linens.
Georgetown is only a 10 minute drive away and you can stroll around "The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas", eat in one of the many fine restaurants (several farm-to-table), or attend one of the many festivals held on the vibrant Georgetown Square throughout the year.
Check out a bike at the Georgetown Visitor Center at 103 W. 7th Street on the Georgetown Square. Explore beautiful downtown Georgetown or the amazing hike and bike trails! Rentals are free!
If you prefer to walk, pick up a brochure from the Visitor's Center on the Square and go on a self-guided walking tour of the historic home and business section of Georgetown and see many beautifully restored Victorian homes and read the stories behind them.
Austin is a 30 minute drive away, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds staying at Scurlock Farms.
This place was perfect for my work on a writing project. Great muffins at check in, a river to wander along, a wood burning stove for heat, everything was what I needed. The host was attentive and responsive. Highly recommend for a rustic, beautiful getaway.
Beautiful property, excellent hosts, perfect location as a country get-a-way yet convienent to town. Getting to feed the animals was a plus.
We enjoyed the Palette Pad. It was a lovely, quiet weekend. We saw deer!
Just a perfect hillcountry getaway.
My wife and I and our Yorkie really enjoyed our 3 nights at the Palette Pad on Scurlock Farms. Sheron provided a thorough and informative drive-around tour of their entire property including the pecan orchard and San Gabriel River frontage. We visited and fed the goats and got up close to the 2 baby goats just born 1 day before our arrival. My wife got inside the fence with 8 Black Angus cows and fed them some treats. Just a little shake of the bucket had them coming up to her for more. The farm is located a short 10-25 minute drive from downtown Georgetown, which we visited each night to enjoy some great food and drinks and even took in a well-done, very funny performance of Leading Ladies at the Palace Theatre. The whole experience was somewhat magical and a bit too short. We plan to visit again with our family of 9 and stay in the Palette Pad and the Rocky Overlook house next door…just as soon as a booking is possible. Thanks so much, Sheron, gif your hospitality. Jim and Sue and Gracie.
We loved seeing/feeding/petting the animals and exploring the property with the owner Sheron and by ourselves. The pecan orchard, wooded areas, and river front and bluffs were beautiful. The history of the family and property is so unique!
We had a short stay at the Palette Pad since we were there for just the weekend, however, the house was very cute and cozy. The landscaping was beautiful, especially looking out the full length windows out the back! We will be back!
Host was accessible, responsive, friendly, or intrusive. Comfortable little cottage. Private, yet close to town.
We just loved it! Sheron is really sweet and welcoming, responsive, easy to talk to, has great stories to tell... she's simply a great host! The palette pad is the perfect size for a couple (with pets like us). The location is amazing, surrounded by friendly farm animals, but far enough for your dogs to not interact with them if not used to, like ours. And you are 45 mins from Austin and 15 mins from Georgetown. The very best for us was the tour of the farm with Sheron, you can feed the cows, the goats, the horses, and you learn about birds, trees (pecan farm), the river nearby (San Gabriel), and the history of the family and the 2 pads... It's so quiet at night, our dogs didn't bark once and slept like a log after our multiple walks to the river nearby. We rested, enjoyed the peaceful day with a view from inside the pad or from under the shade of the beautiful oak trees, and the evenings by the firepit or by the fireplace. And Sheron spoiled us with homemade banana pecans muffins! We adored this location and we will be back during the 3 other seasons for sure! We cannot wait...
We loved our recent stay at Scurlock Farms, and definitely plan return. Sheron was the perfect host; both gracious and attentive she gave us a farm tour, and the green light to explore the fields and river that runs through the farm on our own. We loved walking the path through the pecan orchard to dip our feet in the cool river waters. Our pup loved getting to meet the horses, goats and cows, and running in the pasture right across from the front door of the Palette. The farm is only a 10-12 minute drive to the Georgetown square, so when we weren't exploring the farm, we took the quick trip into town to the lovely town square. All in all a great weekend!
I grew up and live in Dallas, but I have never spent time in this area of Texas. It is so gorgeous, I know I will be back. It was almost impossible to get our 1 year old golden retriever out of the river. The location is perfect since it is a quick drive into Georgetown. And the muffins are amazing! Sheron is a great host and made sure to take care of any questions or requests!
We will definitely be back!
Pros: Great Location on a family-owned Farm. Owner was extremely friendly and courteous. Beautiful stretch of river near location. Peaceful and quite. Dog friendly Perfect size for 2 people and a dog. Details, Sheron Scurlock provided such a unique and enjoyable rental that we are looking forward to going back to. The location is relatively close to many fun attractions in south Texas. However, the farm itself is well worth the trip to visit. There is a beautiful stretch of the San Gabriel within short walking distance. Sheron provided an extensive tour of the property. We were able to feed and interact with some of the different live stock they have on the farm. Sheron also provided fresh baked muffins and fruit for our mornings. When we arrived home from our enjoyable stay we received a hand written note from Sheron in which she expressed her gratitude that we came to visit and even made references to things we did during our visit. Sheron and the property were so welcoming, courteous, and enjoyable. We have been to many neat rentals over our trips, and this is the first one we are planning to make a repeat visit to. It just takes one visit to feel like you're a part of the Scurlock family. One visit and you'll be hooked and wanting to come back.
Beautiful and peaceful property! We enjoyed our stay for our 10 yr wedding anniversary, reading about the history of the Pallet Pad, and nearby Georgetown. Sheron is a wonderful host; she showed us around the property and baked us delicious banana muffins. We are planning to return back and book the bigger house with our kids one day.
It was fabulous. The location is perfect, out in the country but still close enough to do all the things. The host was wonderful. Home made muffins and a tour of the property and critters.
We loved it! Super cute and perfect size for me and my fiancé. Definitely recommend
Great place to unwind. The 5 minute walk to the river through the pecan grove was fun for our dogs. We will be back.
We had a very enjoyable stay. The hosts were very much on top of things and very sweet. Sheron even brought us some muffins - which were GREAT! Beautiful location.
