The host contacted me a week before our trip saying that there was a scheduling overlap and it ended up pushing our trip back a day. I had scheduled this a month prior and that issue being detected last minute was frustrating. The driveway is an absolute nightmare, it needs to be evened out to ensure safety. Other than that, the house and location are great. My friends and I enjoyed our time and the memories that we made here.
The cabin was very nice, fully equipped, with everything one would typically need. The location was remote, but that’s part of the experience in a positive way. Not too far from Boone & Johnson City if you want to venture out. The North Carolina Highlands are beautiful and while we go up there to vacation. The only problem was the driveway to the cabin off the highway. I discussed this with VRBO and the owner. it’s doable with a 2 Wheel Dr., but would recommend a four-wheel-drive. The driveway needs to be improved as with any type of weather, it’s very slick with several deep ruts going up to the cabin. To say it was scary and dangerous would not be an overstatement. I’m not a novice to this type of terrain, but I was very concerned about getting to the cabin and incurring any damage to my vehicle, which is a fairly large SUV. The owner was responsive to my concerns, but obviously there’s not much he could do without a major overhaul to the driveway. I communicated with Vrbo about this and quite frankly it was a waste of time as best I could tell. I spoke with someone with a very heavy accent. She did not seem very concerned about my situation and gave cookie cutter suggestions that even I could have provided. I may consider other avenues in the future for vacation rentals.
This is our second time at the hilltop hideaway. We love it. It’s comfortable, has everything you need, spacious, clean, great porch and beautiful area. Love the corner store up the road. Will forsure go back.
Great place, very cozy! And has everything needed for a stay
Everything was as stated, with a few things more than what we expected.
This place is great! Very clean and a spacious yet cozy layout. Perfect for families. It is remote enough to get away from it all, but close enough to nearby towns to explore. I will definitely stay here again.
We had a great time at Hilltop Hideaway! Will definitely be back soon!
Our experience was absolutely wonderful, the cabin was beautiful and homie! Can’t wait to come back!
We had such an amazing weekend at the Hilltop Hideaway. The house was very clean and offered everything we needed. I appreciated how well stocked it was and the decor was modern and nice. The wifi worked well and while not a giant cabin, it was the perfect size for our 4 adults and 2 kids. The back porch is so lovely and peaceful. We had a great fall weekend apple picking and pumpkin patching. The listing is correct that the driveway is a bit tricky but we managed with our trucks with no issues.
The cabin was great!!! Very clean and had everything we needed. Beautiful location
