This home is set in the upper reaches of a valley on the side of a mountain. With most of the leaves down, we had views of the surrounding mountains in every direction. The house was immaculate when we arrived and well appointed for a lovely stay. We were out and about most of the time visiting Monticello and attending a concert in Charlottesville (about 50 minutes away), but the drive was so scenic we considered it part of the vacation. Everything was as pictured, the beds comfortable and plenty of extra blankets if you wanted them--though they weren't needed--the house was nice and cozy. The supplied hot cocoa cups were definitely a treat on a chilly November evening. There's lots of outdoor space for little ones to roam and run and a fire pit that we didn't have the chance to enjoy because of limited time on our weekend. I concur with other reviewers, you need an all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle to climb the last 1/4 mile to the house. The road/drive isn't rocky or uneven, it's just steep, so a front-wheel drive vehicle would struggle to complete it. The 4-wheel-drive Jeep-owning and frequent off-road driver in our group suggested a front-wheel drive vehicle might be able to make it if you backed up the whole way. But being a little difficult to get to made this secluded mountain home just that much more wonderful to us. Bottom line, come stay here. You won't regret it. Also, don't miss the fresh donuts (on Saturdays only) and breakfast sandwiches at the Dutch Pantry in Ruckersville--simply phenomenal--you would regret missing them.
Really enjoyed our time at this property. We spent most of our time around the fire pit outside. A great place to get away from the city with all the conveniences of home.
If you are looking for a secluded, well kept property in the Shenandoah area, this is it. Property is remote, beautiful, and will defintely require a little extra ground clearance to get to. If your coming at night like we did, this adds to the adventure. House is well kept, clean, and pretty modern given the location. We only stayed two nights to do some hiking in the park but it was a great spot for us. As the ad states, no WiFi but if you have Verizon your good. Only minor gripe was pillows in master bedroom left us a little uncomfortable but thats an incredibly small nit pick. This was a beautiful location and we would love to stay again especially in the Fall. Dont pass this up !
Great house and property!!!
We stayed here to do some fly fishing in the local rivers. It was a great quite place to stay. The place was clean and comfortable. Location is great if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Super quite and relaxing. The drive way is steep and long not a bad thing it was kinda a fun part of the place.
Very nice cabin in the woods. Beautifully quiet setting. Overall nice accommodations.
The cabin was perfect for my family. We were under an hours drive to Lurray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, University of Virginia, and Monticello. We loved exploring. Thank you for a lovely stay - we got to see spring arrive and the red buds all over your property were so beautiful.
My family left the city behind and luxuriated in the VA mountains! We hiked the AT in Shenandoah National Park, toured UVA campus and enjoyed an amazing day at Monticello! I think Monticello was everyone's favorite. There is a Thomas Jefferson actor who speaks for about 45 minutes in the afternoon and he was fantastic.
Property was secluded and had great views. There was a fire pit on the property that we used every night and plenty of firewood available which made for a lot of fun! The mattress in the master bedroom was comfortable and everything looked updated and clean! They had a Keurig machine in the kitchen rather than a coffee pot which I would’ve preferred. And it required four-wheel-drive to get to the property which we had but did not find out about until after we had booked. Only about 30 minutes from the Barboursville vineyard which is where we were going to visit so great location!
Great location! Quiet and serene. Loved the front porch. The house was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again.
We had a great time. Really secluded property and not too far from Shenandoah National Park.
The house was neat and tidy. It looked freshly painted. The kitchen was roomy and very easy to cook in plus enough space for family to gather. Mattress were comfortable. A nice mountain weekend.
Great property to relax. Beautiful scenery. Grilling on the deck was great. Very quiet. Would definitely go back
The cabin was secluded and we enjoyed our time there. We went to Shenandoah National Park 2 of the days we were there. the place was exactly as desribed in the listing and we would return.
