Rangeley, Maine
Follow Chestnut Lane's winding dirt road to the second to last cabin on the left. Here you'll find the Dragonflies Den, haven of solitude nestled on the quiet shores of Quimby Pond. You can choose to park at the upper overflow lot, or down on the gravel driveway next to the rough sawn lumber shed and garage. You'll find a boat rack well stocked with canoes, kayaks, life jackets, swim floats and such. Open the front door to the cabin and you're greeted with a well-appointed kitchen. To your right is the laundry room. You can hang your outdoor gear in one of the two coat closets just inside the door. Down the hallway to your right are the four bedrooms, consisting of two queen bedrooms, one bedroom with two twin beds, and one bedroom with a twin bunk bed. Amongst these is the first full bath. Back down the hall and across from the kitchen you'll find the dining room, with a rustic picnic table next to a beautiful stone fireplace, both with a palatial view out a large window of placid Quimby Pond. Enjoy your meals as you watch ducks doing the same off the front lawn, while the loons glide across the surface of the water in the background. Through a small door you find the last of our rooms, the spacious Gathering Room. Here we have a couch, loveseat and oversized armchair, all power recline with a 50-inch TV, DVD player, and collection of DVDs. Prefer something a little more low-key There's also a varied selection of books, board games, or just warm your feet by the wood stove, enjoying the views out of the numerous windows. But what else is there to do Spring brings legendary fly fishing just out your front door. Summer fishing continues with the addition of swimming, hiking, biking, wildlife watching and motor sports. The town comes to life as well with a wide variety of delicious restaurants, theater, beaches and recreational activities. Autumn approaching Here the leaf peeping can’t be beat, and wildlife abounds as deer, bear, birds and such ready themselves for winter. As we move into the last season Rangely turns into a haven for snowmobilers. With original taxidermy and rustic art throughout this camp, along with the rare privacy of this property you’re assured a vacation you won’t soon forget.

Quiet and relaxing get away.
This is a fantastic rental. The space was large and clean and had everything we were looking for inside, including a very nice kitchen and common areas. There is a big picture window that looks right out onto the pond - which is actually quite large. There is a nice grassy area to sit outside in front of the pond. We enjoyed taking the canoes and kayaks out, and we enjoyed the fire pit. The location was a short drive to town and Rangeley lake. We would definitely come back.
Communication with Melanie was prompt and very accommodating, even new bedroom window coverings. Quiet, beautiful spot on the water. Clean, comfortable cabin. Impressive animal mounts, all from the owners. Would highly recommend it. Hope to return again sometime.
Our stay was pleasant for the most part, but a deep clean of the property would be recommended. Cobwebs adorn most of the place and there were dead bugs in one of the beds when we pulled the covers. We found a wet bathing suit top in the couch and the garbage was half full upon arrival. Check in/check out was easy and Melanie allowed for early check in and late check out. Communication with host was prompt and accommodating. The pond in front was lovely to canoe/kayak, however swimming is kind of yucky - very shallow and slimy with lots of pond vegetation. Location was central. Kitchen is well stocked.
Melanie is a treat! Best communication of all the Vrbo we’ve stayed at. Gave us a bunch of tips on places to go that suited our interests. Property as described… if only Melanie could control the weather (it rained all week) would recommend for individuals, families and couples. Thanks for sharing your home with us , Melanie! Quiet and beautiful spot. Very comfortable home. Taxidermy might be startling to some visitors.
We had a great time, enough space for relaxing with family and keeping up on laundry and cooking. I have to say it wasn’t swimming we hoped to have but it’s tough to compare to the area on student island that half of the week some of us were at. Kayaking was great, I now want a two person kayak! The kids loved catching the bull frog but the leach kinda freaked me out. They loved it though. We would of liked knowing the history of the the animals and bones there and if they had a story behind them. Maybe a journal of other people stay would of been nice to add too. Thank you for opening your home to us!
Melanie is great to work with. She was extremely quick to respond to questions. Excellent place to relax. Tons to do in the area.
Well stocked cabin and wonderful location pond side. Beds were all super comfy. So nice to borrow the kayaks and canoe. We really enjoyed our stay.
Great location! We enjoyed our time there.
We had an excellent weekend! The host was very responsive and super helpful! Not only did she provide a great cabin right on the water, but she provided helpful resources of points of interest that made our trip three times better than it would have been. The cabin was clean, had all we needed, and the location was perfect! The description is 100% accurate. The host was hospitable, didn’t mind answering my questions, and has the best personality ever! Loved, loved our stay!
