We had an amazing time! Cabin was super cozy. Clean, quiet, and peaceful. Tom is a wonderful host! We loved talking to him and hearing his great stories. We will be back!!
It was just fantastic!! Tom was a awesome host. Cabins are far enough out where it's quiet but just a short drive to everything
The first impression was not so good. Once we turned into the area, my wife and I thought, What have we gotten ourselves into? The place looked like a junk yard. Inside the cabin was very different. It was everything it was advertised to be. It was small and cozy. I’m glad we had no kids with us. That would have been a tight fit, but for the two of us, fine. It was neat, clean, and comfortable. AC worked just fine. We did use the kitchen a little and was very glad for it. I was happy to find it had a full size coffee maker, not one of those 4 cup models and a full size refrigerator.
We really enjoyed our stay and in fact extended it by 1 day. The cabin was extremely relaxing and comfortable making our vacation complete.
We love going down to Shawnee National Forest, my husband and I and our dog went we found this amazingly affordable cabin, close to SIU, and the hiking spots. It was perfect, we even extended our stay I already recommended it to some of our friends, family, and coworkers
Had a great time. Loved the property. Owner Tom was quick to accommodate any of our needs.
Called an hour before arriving like requested and they still weren't prepared. When i showed up tom was upset i bought my own fire wood from the Walmart in town. Property was unkept and hideous(garbage and junk all around). The cabin is in desperate need of repairs. Had to clean PUBES OF THE TOILET so my girlfriend could use it. Not a friendly host. Not a good property. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
What an incredible cabin and property. The family and Tom are such kind and wonderful hosts. I feel like I just left family, sad to leave but glad to return again soon.
Very convenient and unique property! Tom, and his Little helper Anthony, great people!
For my birthday, my partner and I decided to book Tom's cozy cabin for a little stay-cation with our pup. It was beyond amazing and surpassed all expectations. Check-in was extremely easy and we walked in the cabin doors to the fire already set up and going for us, setting the tone for our very cozy stay! The cabin had everything you would need - DVD player with a decent selection, stereo, coffee maker, kitchen supplies, and plenty of towels! There's no wifi, which was appealing to us! It allowed us to catch up with one another, connect with nature, practice some painting, and read those books that have been collecting dust in our home for some time! I can't put into words how much we enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend Tom's cabin to friends/family and hope to return soon!
Third time renting a cabin from Tom and we had a fantastic stay. Owner was a hoot and easy to get ahold of, cabin/s were clean and cozy, close to state parks and other nice stops. We’ve been three times and will happily come back!
It was just what I needed. I appreciate the owners (Tom and Martha, a very nice couple indeed) allowing their space in the woods to be utilized. the cabin was warm. The fireplace was very nice. It area was quiet.
We love this place and would stay again. It was clean had everything we needed! Was rustic and private. Near Giant City Park, we loved hiking there and eating at the Giant City Lodge! I loved that my host was nearby and easy to get a hold of.
Our second time there, brought our dog both times, close to Town and the wine trail , hiking and water spots. Rented a boat at lake of Egypt time had a great time. Tom will help firewood or anything else you need. Thanks Tom, we'll be back
Unique cabin in the woods. Secluded but close to town. The host “Tom” was very accommodating.
The inside of the cabin was pretty neat. All wood flooring which was great for a pet friendly cabin. The outside was a little sketchy. A lot of junk laying around and decks/deck furniture was pretty dirty. Property owner was very pleasant to deal with.
Wanted a quite getaway and this met all expectations and more Would recommend to anyone wanting to getaway from the rat race
We stayed here for a few days while we were having some remodeling done. Tom was a gracious host and allowed our dogs to stay with us. The cabin was comfortable and stocked with everything we needed except food. Hot water was plentiful and the AC worked great. It is a rustic cabin setting so there were the normal mosquitoes and poison ivy issues outside but nothing we couldn’t handle. We would stay here again.
Had a wonderful time. It was very relaxing. Tom had great stories.
Everything went well enjoyed the cabin and the woods
This cabin was perfect to relax and unplug. Tom and Martha were great hosts. Interesting collection of art inside the cabin and out. We brought food and cooked in every day. Hiked some. Sat by the lake and watched the geese and meditated. Definitely will come back! Loved our week here! Thank you Tom and Martha :) Paulette
This is a cool little cabin with a retro 50s vibe! Mr. Tom was very accommodating and easiest check in ever!!! Close to town but secluded and private!!! Had a great stay!!! Will definitely return!!!
Thanks Tom and Martha
