Peaceful Cabin with Boat Dock along the Black River

Great location and great size for what we needed. This was a last minute booking, we were supposed to go tent camping however, the weather was not going to cooperate. Appreciate all the cookware and spices that are available. In addition, it was nice not to have satellite TV, cable, or streaming available. This may not be a bonus for all, but it was for us. Great fire pit location, right by the river, very peaceful. Kayaks were also a nice touch. Not all was great though. There is a very strong musty smell, mainly in the bedrooms. Did not notice it in the living room, kitchen, or bathroom. Anything that was in the bedrooms had to be put in the wash as soon as we got home. (clothes that were not worn, duffel bags, sheets, etc.) as they picked up the musty smell. Also, the bathroom door will not latch, at least we could not get it too. Since we are on the topic of the bathroom, the only source of air when taking a shower, the window, would not stay up. Propped it open with a shampoo bottle. Lastly, as more of an FYI, the flies will overwhelm the 3-seasons room. Maybe they were getting in from the sliding glass door that would not close properly (big gap at the top). Advise bringing own fly swatter. It may not sound like it, but overall we did enjoy our stay. Just feel the value was not there.

This riverside cabin was perfect for what we needed - a spot near Cheboygan where we could work during the day and relax in the evenings. Wifi strong enough to support large Zoom meetings in kitchen, three-season porch and deck. Everything very clean and cute, and kitchen well-stocked! We loved the river and were particularly fond of the pretty early-morning mists that floated over it. Owners were kind and accommodating, with great communication. We would stay again when in the area.

We had no cell service on arrival and could not get on VRBO for the code or to make sure we were at the right place but the owner's wife was kind enough to come outside their home next door and help us out. Thank you for that! The cabin was clean and well-stocked. No insects anywhere! No AC but plenty of fans and windows for air flow. Slept comfortably. We caught lots of panfish, smallmouth bass, and rockbass from the dock. We even caught a turtle. Dont worry, he was fine! The kayaks were fun to use! Beautiful river. Most of the time we could see straight to the bottom. Lots of rocks but with water shoes, it was comfortable to walk and swim around in the river. Enjoyed sitting in the provided Adirondack chairs to read and watch the river. Lots of cute little squirrels and great bird watching! Neighbors were very quiet and owners respected our privacy. Our dog enjoyed squirrel watching and swimming. It rained one day off and on so we went downtown and shopped. Downtown Cheboygan is so cute! I do have a suggestion and that is to put blinds up on the windows in the kitchen and living room. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this cabin!

Fun time hanging

It was a beautiful location and pleasant for the most part. The bathroom has no exhaust fan and mold around the toilet, definitely an issue with my being pregnant. The listing stated WIFI which was important for us as our son was with babysitters who couldn't contact us at the cabin. Wasn't nearly clean enough for being charged a cleaning fee and having to sweep before we left.

What an amazing stay, this place is a little slice of heaven. Whether it's relaxing on the property around the fire, or out on the dock, you'll love this place. They have the house stocked with basically anything you could need and take very good care of it as well. Hope to come back!

Nice place to stay for a week while in town for a seminar. Shades in the bedroom would have been nice as the sheer curtains let in a lot of light. There is very low cell signal, so this should probably be noted in the description for those who may have emergency calls they have to be available for. Owners are very nice and respectful of privacy.

The house was very cute and quaint. It's on a really nice river. It brought back a lot of good childhood memories and was a very comfortable stay. Being a dog friendly place to stay was really nice and accommodating. Upgrades were nice and the place was very clean.

We came for a birthday weekend & ended with realizing we all needed a calm peaceful weekend. The house was perfect to relax & have fun on the kayaks. Enjoyed having coffee on the dock in the morning & end the day with a cocktail. This is truly a diamond. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!

Had a great stay. It was a nice base for our excursions to Mackinac Islabd and the UP. It was nice being able to catch fish right from the dock on the property.

Was very much looking forward to peace and quiet, like the listing boasted. There is a house being built 40 ft from the cabin. All we heard was air guns, hammers, and a construction crew cursing at one another from 8am to 5 pm daily.

We were surprised that we had to have our own towels/sheets ( finally found it last on the page) - wish it would have been at the top of the list as we were unprepared and had to borrow from family. Also, we had our elderly father with us and found the place not very user-friendly for him. One suggested would be a grab bar near the toilet.

Overall I'd say the description of the property was accurate. As far as it being clean, I would say that the outdoor space could have been swept and wiped down better. The chairs and table had to be wiped down to use them. (This could be due to rain and storms prior, but not sure) The inside was clean and neat. We did encounter someone else's sheets in the washer when I went to use it. I decided not to do wash. We loved the 3 season porch and sat out there in the mornings with coffee. Also a great space for our dog.

Canin is newly remodeled with easy access to river and black lake. aside from a bit of a cold rainy start we enjoyed the property and the surrounding area. property was clean and well maintained.
