Other things to note

This house and the hosts are true gems in the mountains. Read the listing closely, as it is accurate. Beautifully maintained home and property with scenic views across the small valley. The cabin is so nice, even an elk herd enjoyed overnights in the neighboring yard. On our final full day, there was an unavoidable maintenance issue. Even though the issue wasn't preventable, the owner and co-hosts bent over backward on a holiday weekend to provide solutions and ensure we still had a great time in the house. Nothing like firing up the woodstove in winter and enjoying games and laughter with the family. Just five minutes from the ski hill, and ten minutes from town, it's still nicely tucked away. If you're here on a holiday weekend, plan ahead on meals if you eat out, as there can be a 2+ hour wait at some restaurants, especially at dinner time. These hosts are a real treasure, and we thank them for sharing their special place with us. We absolutely cannot wait to return, summer or winter! Just don't tell anyone else... we don't want everyone to know! ;-)
The house and area were great. The view was excellent, and the area was quiet. Overall, the stay was wonderful, and I would stay again.
We stayed three nights at the tail end of a family road trip. It was ideal. The host was communicative and responsive. The cabin itself is wonderful and set beautifully. We had a great time.
We brought our family to this cabin and it was better than I expected. Great communication with the host/manager! I’d definitely come back again next year! Don’t forget your snow chains!
Peace Retreat was the perfect place! The rustic feel of a cabin, with the updated amenities provided a great experience and comfort. The property is gorgeous, and the location couldn't be better. Close to town, yet in the trees of the outdoors providing us with visits from wildlife that included a group of elk that regularly visited the grounds near the cabin! We have stayed in several cabins in the area over the years, but the Peace Retreat is undeniably at the top of the list and will be on our list to return in the near future! To add....this property is on the same road as a cabin my mother lived in before she passed, so making it much more special to me. This visit included my wife and boys along with my in-laws which came with us for the first time, so for us to be that close to a place my mother cherished, made this place even more incredible! It is absolutely a must stay!! And....we'll be back!!
Amazing
Great property, beautiful vista, super quiet area a few miles from town. Kitchen is very well equipped, dining table seats six. Keurig coffee pods and toiletries provided. Firewood available but for a fee. Furnace works well. One king bed downstairs, one king bedroom and two twins upstairs. Fold out single bed in office downstairs. Main floor is ceramic tile, upstairs mainly carpet. Plenty of closet and drawer space in each room. Space heaters and humidifiers were a bonus. Lots of patio seating on the north and south covered porches. We loved this place! Perfectly decorated for a mountain cabin. So quaint and welcoming. The ONLY complaint we had was the condition of all the mattresses. The upstairs king was so bad we couldn’t sleep that first night. We felt every spring and it was very hard. We moved to the twin room and those mattresses were sub par as well but we were able to get a few hours sleep. The pillows were really thin and flimsy. The host was really great and we were able to communicate well through the VRBO app. I told her we would love to come back if the bed situation is updated. Also be aware that guests are required to haul their trash to the dumpsters in Cloudcroft. Luckily the trash bags held up and didn’t leak as we had to put them in a rental car.
This was a beautiful property with a beautiful interior. Great furnishing with a personal touch. It is a perfect mountain retreat with lots of elk, horses, birds and coyotes to keep you entertained. A perfect place for a family weekend or a week long getaway summer or winter.
This was a perfect location to stay in while exploring the Cloudcroft and Sacramento Mountains. The wildlife thought so as well since they seemed to be just at home as we felt. The home is beautiful and you can sense the history of family, love, and fun times that makes this home special. Everything we needed was there, communication with the host was perfect and this home in combination with the location makes a perfect family vacation choice.
