Orndorff Cabin | 2BR, 1BA, Fireplace, 1800's Cabin

We didn’t stay in Orndorffs Cabin. Our venue was changed twice due to repair issues and a gas odor. We stayed at the Farmhouse at Fernstone. It was a nice home but had a few issues. Carpeting in the first floor bedroom is way past needing to be replaced. Curtain in the main bath would be appreciated. Had to check electric panel because hot water heater didn’t seem to be heating. Electric panel is dangerous and would not pass code, fire hazard. It has the potential to be a really great place.

We new the cabin was rustic and could tell by the photos the 80s style furniture was there. What we did not expect was the amount of dead bugs littering the window sills, kitchen sink and bathroom floor. Nor did we expect to see the mold in the shower stall or the live yellow jackets that were flying around. The kitchen table and one of the window sills had bird droppings on them.

We booked this house for our 20th wedding anniversary in hopes of a relaxing weekend together. The log cabin is beautiful. The beds are definitely not queen sized and are old, lumpy, and springy. One bed smelled as if someone dumped a bottle of perfume on it. And in that same bedroom was the smell of a dead animal. There was an animal(s) living in the upstairs that ran around all morning. It was hard to properly seal the shower so that water did not leak out. And, the floodlight from the adjacent house was turned on all night. This place has so much potential, but totally failed to deliver. We were disappointed that it wasn’t worth two terrible nights sleep to stay the entire weekend.

Stayed only one night for a quick getaway but will definitely be coming back with my flyrod.

We originally booked the Orndorff cabin and it was absolutely adorable! However, a couple nights into our stay, a bat found its way inside and woke us up in the middle of the night. Bats are lovely little animals and they’re important for the environment….but I didn’t really want to share a living space with one. I called the rental agency first thing the next morning and they had me packed up and moved to another property within the hour. The other property was way bigger and cost more than our original rental but they didn’t charge us extra or make us move back and forth once the bat was removed from the first place. Other than our bat friend, both properties were very clean and well maintained. Next time I visit the area I will absolutely book through OVR again.

If you’re into rustic this is perfect. We loved it! A little drafty and limited privacy in the upstairs bedrooms as the walls do not go up to the ceiling. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Very large living room area. Perfect location for visiting the state park. We had trouble with the check in because the code was sent ONCE and as we were traveling I did not print it. We arrived there 7 pm and I could not for the life of me find the email. The property manager is not available after business hours. I remembered the numbers, but not the right order. My husband tried different number orders and we finally got in. The VRBO site was no help with this.

The cabin was great but the pics are very deceiving. It looks like the cabin in secluded but there are 3 more cabins behind it and 20 feet off a busy road!!

Amazing property. Crazy… My family owned a cabin in Tahoe growing up. We had the same couches. Great owner. First and last time with VRBO because of the fees. Doubled the price of the stay and makes it almost not worth it.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great cabin, clean & feels authentic! Only one minor issue - there was a bat in the house, keep the windows & doors closed! Also, for those with dogs, the house is right on a main road.
