Stayed May 28, 2025Simply the Best !! Roberta is a lovely and amazing host and her cabin is so wonderful - we had the best time here !! Clean and cozy with everything you need plus some sweet and thoughtful extras - muffins, orange juice, fruit, coffee & tea. Beautifully decorated with plenty of space - from the comfort of the bed, to the view from the porch, to the rustic fireplace - books, and games and information on local eats and everywhere to visit. Perfectly located AT the entrance to Custer State Park and central to everything. We drove 1275 miles to all points east, west, north and south and came back to this awesome home base every night during our week stay. Saw Custer State Park and all the scenic drives, Devil’s Tower, Mount Coolidge, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Spearfish Canyon, Sturgis, the Mammoth Site, Minute Man Missile Site, Deadwood, Wall Drug, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Crazy Horse, Stockade Lake, Sylvan Lake, deer, cattle, horses, pronghorns, mountain goat, elk, birds, prairie dogs and bison ( so many babies). Simply the Best !!

Stayed Aug 4, 2024Was a great location during a very busy time due to the bike rally. Felt safe and was easy to find and come and go. Plenty of space yet cozy. Beautiful quiet mornings and evenings. The one issue was it stated there was internet but it did not work, however probably just as well, kept me from doing too much work on vacation :)

Stayed May 17, 2024Roberta was a great hostess, who walked us through everything about the cabin, was available if we needed her, but left us alone. The cabin was spacious, decorated with unique antiques and replicas, had a great front porch with a view of Stockade Lake. The location was right at Custer State Park entrance and about five minutes from the town of Custer. Most other attractions were close by, so it was the perfect location for visiting Mount Rushmore, hiking, biking, kayaking, seeing lots of wildlife, visiting caves, and shopping. We had never been to the Black Hills and thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay!
