You get what you pay for and we are not upset at the condition of this rental. The owners have owned this cabin for a very long time as stated in their welcome letter. I highly recommend they do some simple renovations. Replace the carpet as they are old and nasty. Basically everything is aged to early 90’s. With that being said, it was clean and roomy for our family. The driveway is very steep and there is only parking for one vehicle.

The property and the management team were outstanding. What pleasant surprise to find a Pecan pie waiting for us on the counter. Perfect for a small party wanting the hillside overlook experience.

The king size bed was old, and the wife and I kept rolling toward the center of the bed. Both of oir backs were hurting every morning. During the rain storm there was an inch of water in the downstairs bathroom. It appeared to be seeling in through the walls. There was a storm water drain that dumps.out on the front concrete stairs. We had to wade through a river all the way down the stiars while packing the car. It was no longer raining at this time. It advertised wifi, nope!! Had to use the hotspot on my phone the entire time. The overhead lights in the cielong of the bedroom with the king sizwd bed didnt work. Only had the bedside table lamps workingz it was too dark. The managing agency, mountain laurel, was amazing. No complaints for them. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked woth everything needed to cook.

Pros: The Location is great, 10 min. to Gatlinburg and to the Great Smokey NP. Cons: This is an older house in need of renovation and a clean out. The entire building has a slight lean to it (lay a crayon or ball down on the porch and it will run off, every time). Over time, this also makes for uncomfortable sleeping. The driveway is extremely steep, would be very hard for sedans to climb especially if wet. This carpeted areas of this house had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. There were French fry bits on the floor in the master, Doritos crumbs and bag in the guest room, goldfish crackers and leaves, etc in the living room. The nominally nice view of the mountains has a bunch of power lines running right across it that were air-brushed down in the listing photos. That was extra disappointing. The stair access to the bedrooms (below) is right between the kitchen and the front door. It's truly bizarre design, ugly and inconvenient. The stairs open to a non-enclosed washing machine area (good luck doing laundry and sleeping at the same time). Also, there are no fans in either bedroom (though there are in the kitchen) so keep in mind for warmer months. All of these deficiencies would have been easier to stomach, maybe even kinda funny, if we weren't still paying premium rates for a 2-bedroom. This listing should be half that. Really disappointing experience.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We first stayed here in 2000 after my Dad passed away. The place was beautiful with nice accommodations. 22 years later the place smelled musty, the ac didn't cool the upstairs, the hot tub didn't work. I swept quite a few bugs up while there along with hand smears which we on the bathroom mirror. We appreciate all the help from the rental office but we will not be renting there again.

Rating Details: The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The pictures of the house are outdated. You cannot see a view due to overgrown trees. It is not noted that bedrooms are downstairs. It is not noted that the house is on a very steep incline with a driveway that is hard to get up and lots of stairs. The house has a very musty smell to it. It is fairly close to town and we did see a bear but it is overpriced for rentals that are better kept.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great vacation! Our cabin was very comfortable and homey. We had a beautiful view. Road to the cabin is steep and windey, but it is well worth it. We had some issues with the hot tub but it's repair required draining and curing so we just dealt with it for our stay. Overall, we loved our experience in the mountains!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The driveway is a little steep and so are the outside stairs, but the chalet was clean and we had a nice stay.

The only good thing about this property was the view. Otherwise the chalet is old and dirty, visible cobwebs, peeling wallpaper, stained furniture, musty smell, steep scary driveway, jacuzzi was either too hot 108 degrees or making noises keeping us up all night. The worst part of this experience however was the way the staff treated me at the office. When I went in the ask if there was anywhere else I could park I was basically told that my only option was that I could “leave and get my money back”. This person decided not to be helpful. Almost every person In the guest book on the coffee table commented on the scary steep driveway. I was told by staff that the main website said low vehicles may scrape which is not the same in my opinion and I asked that they inform the VRBO listing to outline this very important detail. I absolutely do not recommend this property.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked this cabin as a family with 2 young kids (4y and 13m). Getting to the cabin was tough- almost could not get up the driveway the first night as it was rainy. Thankfully the next 2 days were dry, so it was somewhat easier. The cabin is in a good location as far as easy to get to Gatlinburg attractions. There is some mountain view from the top balcony, but it was mostly obscured by trees. The interior appears to have largely not been touched since the 80's- in definite need of updates. The most notable need of update is the carpet, which is so worn that we stepped on carpet tacks on transition areas. There is also a musty smell to the cabin which was semi-unpleasant. Despite this, the interior surfaces were well cleaned and all the appliances worked well. WE didn't test out the hot tub. Expect to see bears!
