We had a great stay at this cabin on Butternut Lake! It’s a perfect location on the lake, with a sturdy pier and beautiful views. Tons of windows to open and enjoy that lake breeze. We rented a boat locally, and were able to go out fishing every day. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need! The living area was comfortable, bedrooms were small but perfectly fine. The loft area was really fun for the kids! They loved having that space for themselves. The beds are a bit squeaky, but not uncomfortable. The bathroom is a fine size overall, but the shower is a little tight, and my elderly father had a difficult time using it. If you’ve ever stayed in a true lake cabin, you know how the bathrooms are. There was occasionally a septic smell whenever the toilet was flushed, but this seems pretty common for this type of building. The building is older, but has been completely remodeled! The back porch was wonderful, with a nice swinging couch for relaxing. We spent a lot of time out there just enjoying the view! The road is a bit harrowing the first time you drive down, as it looks like you are just driving straight down a grassy hill, but once you see where you are going, it gets better. There is extra parking at the top of the hill, but my dad couldn’t walk down there, so we had to drive down to the cabin itself. Overall, it was a lovely little cabin in a beautiful location, and we would definitely visit it again!

The unit was very nice, but I would have to say the dishes in the kitchen were dirty as we use the dishes we had to wash them prior to useThe kitchen I would say was equipped for people that like to cook, breakfast lunch and dinnerComing up to the North country for relaxation and a good night sleepThat did not happen. The bedrooms were small. The mattresses were not comfortable. The pillows were absolutely horrible. It would’ve been better to pitch a tent outside and sleep on the ground

The cabin was quaint and perfect for our family. The lake was perfect. We loved taking the pontoon out to the “sandbar” area and wooden floating dock on the National Park land. We would definitely recommend this property to everyone. The only negative was there were two squeaky beds that could be repaired.

Cabin was updated and well appointed with everything we needed - including A/C. Lake is awesome- clean and clear. Dock was large enough for pontoon and fishing boat in addition to our other toys (kayaks and paddle board). Wifi too! Only downside (which can be expected for rural cabins) was we could hear mice scratching in the wall all night of the center bedroom.. Even though I emailed and called the property manager, maintenance never came. After a couple days the mice moved to the air vent which was louder. We ended up opening the air vent around day 5 and found 4 mice- 3 recently dead. We opted to remove them ourselves to avoid the smell due to lack of response. .

We wanted to stay on Lake Butternut and were very happy to find availability with this newly remodeled cabin. The cabin is very cute. The kitchen was roomy enough for more than one person to prep food at the same time. It was clear that the owners gave a lot of thought to providing as much storage as possible in this tiny place. There were many shelves and bins in the living room area. The view of the lake was beautiful and so peaceful. The pier was very nice. The reason I only gave this property a 3 overall is because it was very expensive for what we got. We've stayed at many VRBOs and they are all luxurious and have all been less pricey than this place. Of course you are paying for the view and lake access, but for the price of $400+ per day we expected a very well stocked kitchen and comfortable mattresses. We knew the place was small before we booked it so no complaints there, but the full size mattresses in the bedrooms were thin and ours sagged in the middle. The pillows seemed to be plastic as they crinkled when touched. The bedrooms were too small to have dressers. There was a closet, thankfully, but there were very few hangers so we just lived out of our suitcases for the week. Some of the items not stocked in the kitchen were measuring spoons, wine glasses, decent plastic cups and a few other things that are escaping my memory right now but were expected. My husband and friends were happy that there was a Keurig machine with a nice variety of coffees. Since this is a newly opened VRBO we wondered if things would improve as the owners learned more about amenities that guests would like. We had 2 couples in this cabin but realized it would be better suited for a small family or just 1 couple. I feel bad that I'm not giving this a stellar review because we really enjoyed our stay but need to be honest in hopes that the owners can take this review to heart and make some improvements.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were furious that the entire vacation fell apart due to incompetence and misrepresentation from your company. For further information see correspondence via emails to Angela, Our family and friends agree your behavior was outrageous. We did not stay and went back home.

This place was overall very nice - new and clean. Renting a pontoon was key for exploring gorgeous Butternut Lake. No kayaks or other boats are included. We have rented many places in northern Wisconsin and never before had to bring toilet paper and all of our towels - we felt that for the price of this place (not cheap, especially after all the fees and all the taxes were added on!), some basic things like hand towels, kitchen towels, TP and real hand soap could have been included (no dishwasher, so kitchen towels were really needed!) Also, there was a very nice deck, but there was no table to eat outside. The only outdoor seating was a few stacking plastic chairs. As I said, overall it was a nice place, but we felt the price should have included some of the basics.
