Stayed Jun 29, 2025Reserved thru VRBO. Received a several page agreement from Aunt Bugs Cabin Rental to complete before receiving instructions for check in. Then received a call that they wanted a selfie with your drivers licenses to confirm it is me checking in. Then a selfie with the credit card to verify the last four digits of the credit card information. We were traveling from the East and had to drive 25 minutes past the rental home to get the “check in” instructions and “sign the paper”. I told them we will be there late. The gave me a “code” for a lock box. When we arrived the lock box was unlocked. The “check in” instructions was on a paper that could have been easily emailed to us. So we drove 50 minutes round trip to “check in” because Aunt Bugs is located in Pigeon Forge and we were staying in Gatlinburg. The check in process and inconvenient of going to Aunt Bugs office is very inconvenient. We loved the house but would probably not stay again due the check in process, the selfie with drivers licenses, and selfie with credit card. They claimed selfies was due to fraud and they wanted to confirm. What about fraud with selfies with sensitive inform that they wanted us to text to them. Be aware of the additional agreement and check in process.
