Welcome to Bald Mountain Lodge!

Bald Mountain Lodge is a charming, three-level mountain lodge with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, nestled on a large, private, wooded property with picturesque mountain views in the Todd area, less than a mile from the New River, and only 10 miles from Boone. West Jefferson is less than 14 miles away. Hiking, cycling, fishing, kayaking, tubing, white water rafting, and more are conveniently nearby.

The main level of Bald Mtn Lodge features an open-concept great room, dining area, and kitchen with wood floors, vaulted, tongue-and-groove wood ceilings, and exposed beams. A huge wood-burning fireplace is centered within a stacked-stone wall, with an HD Smart TV atop the mantel. Comfy leather furniture, additional seating, and reclaimed-wood coffee and side tables complete the great room. A wall of glass windows and doors opens up unobstructed layered mountain views, including Bald Mountain and Elk Ridge. Comfortable dining for up to 10 guests at the banquet-style dining table with extension. Two more can sit at the adjacent kitchen island for a total of 12 seats. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and hickory cabinets. A half bath/powder room is central and convenient, and the open-air deck spans the length of the house, wrapping around the side, features outdoor seating, a stainless gas grill, and an outdoor picnic dining table, all of which look out at the picturesque mountain views.

Also on the main level is a generous King master suite with exposed beams and tongue-in-groove wood ceilings, glass doors leading out onto a side deck with Adirondack armchairs, a cozy sitting area with a comfy armchair and side table, an HD Smart TV, and a fantastic ensuite master bathroom with a large slate tile shower and a garden-style soaking tub.

The upper level features a quiet, cozy loft sitting area with twin leather armchairs and two more bedrooms, each with a queen bed and vaulted ceilings. One of the two upper bedrooms also has a twin trundle bed, and the other has an HD Smart TV. There is a central bathroom upstairs with a tub/shower combo.

The lower level boasts a huge den and game room with a wood-burning fireplace, an HD Smart TV with an Xbox One, a leather sofa that opens up to offer a Queen sleeper bed, an air hockey table, a shuffleboard table, and a dartboard. The lower level also has a large bedroom with a king bed and an HD Smart TV. Another full bathroom downstairs offers a tub/shower combo. There is a laundry room on the lower level with a washer and dryer, and a walk-out courtyard open to the view. There is a hot tub here as well.

The owners have generously stocked the lodge with kayaks and tubes for use on the nearby New River, less than 1 mile away, as well as two bicycles for guests to enjoy. Beside the lodge is a stone courtyard with a wood-burning fire pit. The level parking area can accommodate 3 to 4 cars. Central heat and air conditioning guarantee year-round comfort and climate control. High-speed fiber-optic internet, digital TV programming, an Xbox One, and Smart TVs with numerous options make this a fun-filled lodge with plenty of stimulating, entertaining activities on-site.

My group was in the area for a celebration of life for my late husband. We were gathering at Betsy’s Barn down the road, and this property was the perfect homebase for the weekend events. Plenty of space for us to enjoy each other’s company and have privacy. And those views….ahhhh! The property was easy to access and bot far from Boo e. I would come again when in the area.

Overall had another great visit to the Alma mater. We wish the lower level was given some cleaning and maintenance attention- unable to use the level due to the spiderwebs and noticeable lack of vacuuming for quite some time. Hot tub was not useable due to the lack of upkeeping. Wish the hosts took some time to check in with the dust and spiderwebs more often.

As the title indicates, this was truly a very tranquil home and location. Well appointed with everything you need! We loved everything about it! Will keep this place in mind for future visits to the Boone area!

Open floor plan offers room to spread out especially with extended family with young children. Fire pit was a big hit and privacy was an added bonus!

I was excited to be checking in for our 3 night stay and received a call/voicemail from the property mgmt company at 2:30 pm that housekeeping would not be ready for 4 pm check in. That was a bit disappointing, as I waited for a confirmation call that the property was ready at 5 pm that never came (I had to call and let them know at 5:20 that we were just going to go). The initial impression was that the house was beautiful and well-appointed, and the view did not disappoint. However, I did have to go through the entire home with cleaning wipes, Lysol spray (the carpet in the stairway to the basement had a bit of a smell) and a wet Swiffer to feel comfortable with my family walking around with socks or bare feet (I used six floor pads, and they were all dirty). The house definitely appeared clean to the naked eye, but could use a deep clean. There were no shortage of spiderwebs and dead bugs in the rafters, wall corners, and deck spaces. I was extremely disappointed when we found that the previous renters had left an overloaded dishwasher full of dishes that had not been run before they left, because housekeeping should have caught that, and we had to spend time reorganizing and washing someone else’s dishes. The shower in the downstairs bathroom did not function properly and the drains in the main and upstairs bathroom were extremely slow, (I put in a call about this and never received a response to my request for service). Besides all of this, the house had all that we needed for our stay, amazing views for watching the sun rise, and was conveniently located to shopping and restaurants in Boone. I would definitely recommend, but with the caveat that you should bring bug spray and be prepared to clean to enjoy all of the house.

We had a great time. The weather didn’t always cooperate, but we still had a blast with the air hockey and shuffleboard and darts. The kids even played Pitfall on the Atari like we did when we were kids. We were able to have s’mores outside at the fire pit and it was cold enough to build a fire indoors for a cozy night. Great house and view.
