Moonlight Mountain Retreat Woodworker's Masterpiece with Spa and Game Room

Plenty of space both inside and outside! This was a great place for family to gather.

Communication was great. Place was beautiful. I would love to stay their again.

We had a lovely long weekend. Adrien was very attentive to our needs. He brought another BBQ and even found us 2 pool cue sticks.The windows could use some curtains to block the early morning sun.My adult children want to do this every year to celebrate my husbands birthday.It was a little difficult to find, the “ blue sign arrow” was placed at a odd angle so the turn was unclear.

Wonderful views, marvelous deck. Overall, beautiful cabin that slept our large party comfortably.

Moonlight retreat was beautiful! It was already decorated for Christmas with a tree and all! The layout is quirky, in a good way! So much woodwork, really felt like we were in a cabin! We were super close to town, but you wouldn’t know it. Lots of hikes within a few minutes. The deck was incredible, comfy, and the views were great! Hot tub was wonderful and stayed hot! It was so peaceful and relaxing all around.A couple things to note, no curtains on most windows, so it’s bright, but beautiful to wake up to Mountain Views. Cabin road was steep and windy so we were grateful there was no ice or snow, otherwise it could have been tricky getting to the cabin. Overall, we would definitely recommend this cabin! We loved our time here!

House was amazing everything went great! Clean well stocked house!

We had a large family with 5 children. Everyone had a place to sleep and plenty of area to play. We cooked almost all meals and the kitchen, breakfast nook, and large dining room table were great. The property was fun -- climbing, hiking opportunities everywhere! We set up a telescope on the deck for the moon at night and the acorn woodpeckers during the day. We would definitely come back! Negatives: We tried to contact the property owner 3 times with questions and only got a response once. Also, we ran out of toilet paper on day 2 because no extra was stocked. We were reassured that some would be delivered, it wasn't, and we had to go to the store and buy some.

Went here with my book club and it offered the nature and serenity we were looking for. Expect the property manager contacts to potentially take a few hours to answer questions on the weekend - but overall they offered a straightforward check in and check out process and I appreciated their binder in the living room as a reference for house rules!

Nice home loved the views. Would have liked shades in the bedrooms, the road into the property is not good.

It's a shame but this property is not well kept. I have been coming to Idlywild for many years staying in vacation homes. This is the first time I have stayed at a property that was unacceptable. Aside from little things I did not complain about, like the outside decks not being cleaned (covered with dust, pollen and no cushions put out), as well as cobwebs everywhere, window screens missing, no sliding door screen, meaning we could not open them because bugs, birds and critters can get in, along with little air ventilation because master fan was not working and it was hot - we were faced with mice in the house. Apparently this was not a new problem as we noticed later there were little traps of which one had a fresh dead mouse in it in the cushion closet. The mice we saw started late at night, running in the game room and middle dining room, one was in the closet climbing the walls. We noticed there is a gap between the garage carport wall and floor in the game room where they can come and go freely. The management company did find us a new place at 11:30 at night which was appreciated but they did not adjust the price as the other place was smaller and rented for much less per day. Needless to say, bad experience overall. Hopefully the problems at Moonlight have been addressed by now- ask before booking.

I hate to leave this review but I hope it will help other people when booking in Idyllwild. Due to windows and doors not sealing, we had an issue with mice starting the evening we checked in. New Spirit was very helpful by bringing traps to help take care of the problem. However, even with the additional traps, we continued to see mice throughout our stay. On the day before we checked out, there were baby mice in blanket used by our grandson. On top of the problem with mice, the house was extremely warm due to not being able to open all the windows. Most of the windows were missing screens so they could not be used without letting bugs getting in the house. We were not able to utilize the upstairs bedroom with single beds. It was too hot to sleep in that room. We were in communication with New Spirit Vacations throughout our stay. They were extremely helpful. The last night they moved us to a different house that was much nicer. I would not hesitate to rent one of their houses due to them making up for the issues during our stay. However, I would not stay in this house until they address the mice, screens, and a few other maintenance items.
