So I booked this for our 11th anniversary we where so excited once we arrived it was dark and had no trouble finding the property with the given map and directions. Once inside we settled in and started exploring the cabin and my wife noticed some white material on the sofa, tables and rugs in the living room. I told her it was probably nothing maybe dust or something that fell from the ceiling fans when I turned them on. Later in the night we noticed a squeaking noise and a noise like something was falling from the ceiling. After hearing these noises my wife assumed we may have a bat high up in the ceiling and she confined herself in the bedroom with the door closed while I determined there was no bat but it was definitely in the ceiling looking closer at the debri we noticed earlier it was apparent it was feieces falling from the ceiling. Well that didn't go over with her at all what if I put my drink on the coffee table and something fell into it that's gross and a health risk. So I messaged the emergency number the next day they confirmed they had a squirrel issue last year and they would send someone out to clean the mess and lay traps. A few hours later housekeeping came and did clean the mess and lay down traps. I spoke with house keeper and she indicated to us they where just out at the property and noticed this problem they indicated squirrel is somehow in the ceiling and traps never caught anything last year so it was a repeated problem never addressed with an actual exterminator. We left the property after the housekeeper left and went to dinner to the Red Onion in Boone (recommended by the housekeeper). Upon return to the property the mess the housekeeper cleaned up was everywhere again feices everywhere. We made sure not to walk into the living room/dining room to avoid stepping and getting hit by the raining feices. You could actually hear the fecial matter hitting the ceiling fan and hitting the floor all night. Not what we expected as a memorable 11th anniversary and very disappointed since it seems like all of this could have been avoided if proper maintenance and upkeep was a priority rather than to allow guests to enter a unfit living area. I would say this if your looking to rent this cabin make sure the infestation problem has been properly addressed and cleaned throughly it may only be squirrel but your paying good money to rent this cabin. ?

My husband and I just returned home from an amazing weekend at this cabin. It was our five year anniversary and I wanted to surprise him with a much-needed getaway from our normal hectic life. When we arrived on the day of our check-in we were so excited to pull up to this cute little cabin and when I walked in the door it only was even better. Everything was so cute and perfect, we enjoyed the wood-burning fireplace both nights we were there and the hot tub as well. I wasn't sure if getting a place with a hot tub was really going to be worth it, if we would use it or not… But let me just tell you this was absolutely perfect. Set on the back deck of this cabin with wonderful privacy was a perfect hot tub to have some time to unwind. We visited a local zip line adventure just a few miles away and had an amazing time. We drove into Blowing Rock for dinner our first night and then again the following day and that was absolutely perfect. I love the fact that this cabin is located right in the middle of everything we wanted to do. Just minutes from Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Boone. I have already recommended this cabin to a friend and she is booking it for her and her husband for a weekend getaway as well. There's definitely a lot more room in this cabin then just for two people. We are actually looking into renting it again and bringing our parents and our children with us. There is plenty of room! You will not be disappointed if you are just looking for a quaint, clean and perfect getaway! And the bed was absolutely perfect. That is always a worry when you're going to stay somewhere else if you are going to be comfortable… We definitely were and we slept great!

Enjoyed the wildlife all around the property-squirrels, hummingbirds, turkeys and their young, deer from the beautiful porch.

The Jaybird Lodge was exactly as pictured - welcoming, cozy and well-appointed! We especially enjoyed the bird theme that ran throughout. The cabin was clean; the kitchen, well equipped; and hot tub delightful at the end of each day. The drive up the mountain to the cabin was absolutely beautiful. We would most certainly recommend the Jaybird Lodge to others.

This house was more than expected--clean, adorably decorated, and simply gorgeous! My two young children, my parents and I were comfortable! The porch was great for rocking--peaceful and serene. We are anxious to return--I'm interested in knowing how the roads would be in the winter--very steep and windy.

Great location - although you should be prepared for a lot of tight twists and turns but quiet/peaceful location! Neat, clean, adorably decorated. The cable is very basic, not many channels if you plan on staying in.

It's NOT located in Blowing Rock. It's in Banner Elk which is an easy 30 minute drive. They have basic cable which is basically nothing. The internet doesn't come on except for Friday-Monday. I didn't even know that was possible!!! I also didn't enjoy how you were supposed to put all your trash in your vehicle and go dispose of it way down the road. That should NOT be your guests responsibility. The cabin and hot tub itself were nice.

Great location and property (clean, neat, quaint) for my wife and I and our two kids (3 and 12). Nearby (walking distance) lakes for fishing, hot tub, and access to Boone, Linville, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. In Seven Devils...great community!
